Jenna walked around the place she now called home. She hadn't really expected anyone to show her hospitality, let alone offer their home to her. It was nice, strange but a good kind of strange. As she walked down through the hall she listened for her roommate's heartbeat to locate her. Once she got close she called out "Elsa?"

Elsa had been in the library reading. There were times when work just had to be put on hold. She was turning the page, engrossed in the encounter of scientist and creation. The creature was spilling his woes, when Jenna's call came out. Elsa cleared her throat, marking her place. "Door's open, Jenna. Come in!"

Jenna padded into the room where Elsa had called from. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything." She said knowing how sometimes Elsa got when she was in the middle of something important and was bothered. She sat close to Elsa curling her tail around her paws.

Elsa laughed warmly. A book wasn't like a television show where you had to pause and rewind to catch up on all that was missed. No, a book could be marked with a simple little piece of paper or a strip of leather or anything of the like. "No, you weren't interrupting anything. If there's ice on the door, you would ahev known," she was half joking, but ice was the equivalent of a do not disturb sign.

Jenna nodded and chuckled at the memory of when she had been shocked at being greeted by ice the one time she had disturbed Elsa. Jenna had been able to dodge the ice but the message had been clear, ice on anything closed meant keep out. "How exactly did you know that I wasn't like other hearthounds?" She was also curious how Elsa knew what she was, others thought she was just a talking dog, the way she liked it.

Elsa set the book on the table. No point in getting back to reading any time soon. Jenna was here, and her attention needed to be on her hearthound friend. She wasn't supposed to talk about old cases because of confientiality issues, but the question was forcing her to dive into her cases defending the BPD. One cop, Pongo, had been a hearthound as well, but had resigned to care for his mate."Because there was an officer you reminded me of. He was a hearthound, too, and didn't display any of the..." she thought about her next words carefully, "...regular attitudes. The only time he did was when someone he didn't trust was nearby"

Jenna didn't miss the fact that Elsa was trying to be polite with her wording. "Don't worry about hurting my feelings with the truth about my kind." She said with a smile. "I know better than anyone what they're like." When Elsa said the name Pongo she blinked in surprise. "Pongo went on to be an officer? Father said he was ripped to pieces when he approached the city." The tone in her voice was a little hurt at the fact that her father would lie to her, even though that wasn't entirely news to her.

"It's just a habit, Jenna," Ela reassured Jenna. Being a lawyer meant that there was so much discipline and wording of certain parties that had to be placed in. She couldn't use the insulting terms people were throwing at Others, it would only arouse the anger that was simmering in Bellerouge. Jenna sounded surprised by Pongo becoming a member of the force. "There are technically other ways to get torn up that don't include a hearthound assault," Elsa pointed out. "And yes, Pongo signed up. He was a reliable tracker and an even more persistent fighter."

"True. But he made it sound like the humans did it as soon as he appeared." Jenna said remembering the meeting that her father had held warning the entire pack about the dangers of leaving the territory. Looking back now, Jenna realized that he had just wanted more control over the pack. Control by fear. "So....what happened to him?" She asked even though she had a pretty good idea about what happened.

"There was a gang war," Elsa looked outside, watching the wind wave a magnolia branch around, scattering its white petals everywhere. "Other gangs are the most difficult to handle. Pongo had gone with the platoon...he was struck by a were," her eyes watered. "Nobody wanted to do the mercy shooting..." Her voice caught. Pongo had been accepted into the police, only to have his life paid for it.

"I see." Jenna said. While it didn't surprise her that much that no one wanted to show mercy to a hearthound, it still hurt. Especially when said hound had been accepted by humanity.

Elsa raised a hand, then paused. Jenna wasn't a dog who was to be petted like an animal. Remembering that peeve, she brought her hand back down, sufficing with brushing the midnight colored velvet in the chair she was sitting in. It was difficult to talk about something light after mentioned the death of a good friend. "So..while I''m studying case files, what have you been doing?"

On instinct Jenna's hackles raised slightly when it looked like Elsa was about to pet her. They lowered as her roommates hand did. "Mainly exploring and gathering information that might be needed by BPD." She said. "I've also been on the lookout for other hearthounds in case they pose a threat to my life here." As she said that her voice remained netural. She wouldn't attack others of her kind unless she had no other choice.

"I'm happy to know you're doing your job," Elsa smiled. Not a lot of Others were given any sense of respect. It was illegal to commit a hate crimes towards the police, and the included to Others Unit. There was a line of confidence with her line of work. If she asked Jenna was information, it would violating the note of confidence. "Have you met anyone on the squad?"

"I've met the Colt brothers." Jenna said. "But they don't know that I'm a hearthound." She continued. "I'm not sure how the two sons of the famous John Colt would react to hearing that a hearthound was in town. Luckily for me, I don't look like most of my kind. Also that not much is known about them."
