Sometimes getting out of the police station was a great way to get some ideas about clues. At least, that's what Sunshine had always told Shadow to do. She was on her way to meet the red and black cop, who was at their usual table near a window framed by weathered, yellow drapes looking out at the traffic on Pascal Street, the street where Nevermore was located, highlighted by the steel black ravens on the old fashioned gas lamps outside. A waitress delivered Shadows usual - black coffee - before walking off to deliver other orders. He sighed, poring over the newspaper as he read story after story. There weren't any leads connected to the Fire and Ice case, as he and Sunshine called their assignment, but there were interesting tales of events going on.

When Namine wasn't on call, the shy blond would frequent the bakery. She would get herself a small treat, something sweet, before setting off to the park to draw in her free time. This routine was no different. She had no call from the BPD, requesting her assistance on any cases, so she had the day off. The bell of the shop chimed as she stepped inside and walked up to the glass case to see what wonderful pastries the bakery had on display this morning. Each day was always something different so it was always nice to see what was in stock.

Tiana had been busy in the kitchen trying to make some sweets for the customers and other things. She had a lot of work to place in during the day. It wasn't that easy. Yet she enjoyed it. It was like heaven to her. Just cooking all the wonderful recipes. It was just wonderful to her. She was grateful to have the job. She continued to cook. She brought out a new plate of delicious looking cookies, pastries, and muffins. She started to place them into the see through container.

Jim and Dimitri pulled up to the bakery. Once the car was parked the two brothers walked in. Dimitri gave a flirtatious wink to a waitress before sitting down across from Jim. Even though they hadn't been put on a case the two brothers were always on the lookout for anything that didn't belong.

So far, nothing that could help the murder case had come up. But only one thing caught Shadow's eyes, and that was the name of a club where the burned girl, Ashlynn, used to work. Grabbing a pen, he circled the bolded name, the Lucky Penny. He went to take a sip, only to find his mug completely empty. A pretty black waitress was making rounds. 'Excuse me," he called politely, "can I get refill?"
Luck must have been on his side because in the table caddycorner to his usual spot came the Colt Brothers. Good, he needed people in his unit to talk to until Sunshine came in. He gave them a subtle nod and wave, going back to analyze the articles for more clues.

Namine's eyes lit up when she saw the newest pastries brought out. Already her mouth started to water, thinking of how warm and fresh they probably were. Maybe she had time for more than one after all. It was her day off. She had no other plans. "G-Good morning." Namine managed to squeak out to the woman behind the counter.

Jack hummed quietly to himself as he scrubbed down a recently vacated table. It help keep him from being too terribly bored as he did his job. In the corner of his eye he kept his darling three year old in sight. She sat at a small table meant for two near the back, coloring away on paper and munching on the snacks he packed for her. Beneath the table was her diaper bag that Jack also tried to keep in sight at all times.
He was lucky the bakery let him bring Sophie in, unlike one of his other jobs. Or well, just other job. Since he lost his third one. Too many sick days he took when she had been unwell and he unable to get her a siter. She was fine now, but income was going to be right this month.
As soon as he finished the table, he moved into the next, collecting dishes and placing them in the bin he was carring. His face drifted away from Sophie, and that was when the little blonde girl looked up and noticed the being that day in the booth not far from her. Bright green eyes widened and a large squeal left her mouth.
"Puppy!" And off she went, jumping out of her seat and towards the black and white with some red furry being.
Jack, hearing her cry, turned and saw her run towards a customer he had seen a couple of times before. "Shit!" he cursed, leaving the table and running after her. He barely managed to grab her before she jumped into the Other's booth, hands moving to get a better hold of the wiggly toddler. "Sweetie, no. You're not supposed to bother the customets, remember?" he said as gently as he could as she squirmed harder.
"Daddy! Puppy!" Jack's face turned scarlet at hearing just what his child mistook the other for, and quickly scooped her up into his arms.
"Uh no, no sweetie. Not a puppy." Looking nervously at the customer, he ignored Sophie's insistence of him being a dog and gave an apologetic smile. "I'm so sorry sir. She thinks anything with fur is a dog right now. I promise she won't bother you again." He so couldn't afford a complaint right now.

The sweet girl refilled his coffee, and Shadow answered his thanks along with a slow nod. He went back to studying the paper. That club needed to have some kind of advertizing. If not a snippet, at least a phone number. But then again, after a murder...
Chubby hands cut off Shadow's train of thought. Crawling over to his booth was a little girl with big green eyes. But before she could upset his coffee, a white haired busboy stepped in, scolding the girl and apologizing. Shadow shrugged in response, grateful his lead didn't get stained. "Compared to what others have called me, Puppy is a compliment,"

Jack nearly gave a sigh of relief, grateful that the anthropomorphic customer wasn't offended by his daughter's words and actions. God knew the late teen had his fair share of hard to deal with customers who would get uppity just for using the 'wrong' greeting let alone with being called a dog by a toddler. Adjusting his grip on the little girl, who was still attempting to escape, Jack gave another apologetic smile. "Alright then sir. I'll make sure she won't bother you again." Upon hearing that promise, Sophie turned her head up towards her daddy and gave a pout.
"Oh no you don't young lady." he said, shaking his head as he began to step away from the customer's booth. "You know you're supposed to stay in your chair while Daddy's working. If you can't behave, then Daddy isn't allowed to bring you, remember?" he told her, adjusting his hold again as he made his way to her table. And Daddy can't afford the Sitter during these shifts. he added in his mind, mentally sighing at the thought of just how tight things were going to be until he could find a job to replace the one he lost.
"Hhmmph!" the little girl huffed, grabbing a fistful of her hair and putting it in her mouth. Wincing at the sight, and recalling reading about the bad things that could come from that, Jack quickly made her take it out and sat her back down. When it looked like she was about to take off again, he sighed and scooped her up.
"How about we play Koala?" he asked, smiling in relief when she cheered excitedly and eagerly allowed him to help swing her over to his back where she clung on tight. It was a bit uncomfortable, and he had to remind her not to choke him, but once he was sure she was secure he went back to the table he was busting and resumed cleaning it, keeping an eye out for any other tables that need clearing or for any accidental spills.

Shadow shook his head at the young boy scolding the little girl. The sentiment was touching, especially given to how he handled her itch to get up and run around. The game of 'Koala' sealed the deal, and quickly shook his quilled head quicker. Focus, Shadow, he thought, You have to get this information. Sunshine's on her way and you can peg down whatever is...
"Shadowshadowshadowshadowshadow!" Timing was everything. Sunshine came barreling into the bakery, waving around the case file like it was the newest bestseller at a bookstore. Her outburst had caused several customers to look up, including the redheaded waiter with an olive green newsboy who stared at her quizzically. Typical of Thomas to judge her enthusiasm for finding a missing clue in a case. She rocked on her heels, giving a little girlish wave to all the people staring at her before slipping into the booth Shadow was in. Some called it luck that she found him, but Sunshine called it knowing her partner.

Tiana looked at the blonde girl in front of the case. She gave a smile and answered the girl in a nice clear voice. "Good morning." she said. "How can I help you today?" she asked looking at the blonde haired girl. She was so happy to see some customers in Sunshine's family's shop that she was so pleased to work in.

"Oh, um, the special of the day? I-If that's okay." Namine said meekly. She offered the woman a tentative smile. Places like this were always a bit loud and it would be a wonder if the hostess was able to hear such a soft request. However, the artist always had a hard time in social settings, particularly where she had to put herself out there.
The cafe was about as social as she got. It was a small family owned business where Namine didn't feel as pressured. The smile that was being shot in her direction, put her a little more at ease.

((Mind if I join the party?))
As Sonic was doing his exercise as a break, he did feel thirsty and just remembered that there was a cafe right near the area. He hoped that the breakfast special was going to be there, which was Jalepeno bagels, which was his personal favorite. As soon as he arrived at the area, he did see a cop there including other citizens of the area, and luckily there was no crime happening at the moment. So, he figured that a break from fighting against criminals is nice. So, after finding a seat, he waves to the rest of the people and takes out a newspaper to read from and he did read that there was there was something happening but, he needed something to fill his stomach for energy before going to the area of the crime scene. He just sat down and waited for the owner to take his order in a very patient matter. "Hey, is there any Jalepeno bagels or something spicy?" He thought, as he was looking through the menu. Luckily, it was a small bakery, but, he hoped that there was going to be something spicy, if not coffee would do, and he would be satisfied with that.

It was a relief being able to smoothly get back to work once Sophie latched onto his back, enjoying playing Koala. It was perhaps the greatest thing he ever thought of, once she learned about the furry little marsupials form Australia. Right up there with peanut butter and jelly waffles. Keeping his chin tucked down to help avoid getting choked, he went about collecting dishes into the bin. When the table he was cleaning was cleared, he began to wipe it down with a bottle of cleaner and a towel.
Sophie giggled happily all the while, doing her best to hold on tight as her Daddy moved around and bent over the table. Occasionally she looked around the bakery, grinning widely as she saw how tall she was when on her Daddy's back and smiling at anyone who looked her way. Now and again, Jack would adjust her on him to help ensure she didn't loose her grip and fall while turning his head back to give her a funny face. She laughed loudly every time he did.
Once the table was clean, he grabbed the bin and began to head towards the kitchens, stopping short as he heard the familiar call of Sunshine, who was occasionally a baker and sort of his boss, when she was actually working at the bakery and not out being a cop. He stood still as the energetic blonde ran through the building, securing his chanced of not being run into in her rush to get to apparently the customer whom Sophie still believed to be a dog of some kind. Once he was sure he was in the clear, he returned to his path towards the kitchen to dispose of the dishes.
Once that was done, he returned to the front, changing up his little game with Sophie alone the way."Upsie daisy." he said, unlatching her koala hold and placing her up on his shoulders instead. She squealed in delight, getting even taller now that she was on his shoulders. But soon enough she became distracted as the bell chimed and a new customer came in. One that looked similar to the one she saw before, but blue.
"Puppy!" she yelled, her voice as excited as before. Jack winced as he held on tight to his little girl's hands to make sure she didn't try to jump off his shoulders.
"No Sophie, he's not a puppy." he told her, trying to keep the sigh out of his voice.

Shadow shook his head, the very "shadow" (babumbish) of a smile appearing on his face. Sunshine knew how to make an entrance at times. Plus, she was still starting out when it came to her cop skills, so perhaps combining her two worlds was a bit much. As she settled it, he took another sip of his coffee, asking, "So, what'd our rubber duck collector have to say?"
"You were right about the wards," Sunshine answered, sliding the pictures towards him. "They were designed to go off, but only when activated by water at a specific time. Multiple people went in. But look here," she flipped two shots that were taken from the security cameras. An individual wearing a navy blue jumpsuit was caught multiple times. One would argue that a janitor going in and out was typical. However, the jumpsuited figure was shown several times making glances towards the sauna and shower stall where Ashlynn and Krystal were killed. She slammed a hand on one photo as Shadow leafed through them, his red eyes locked onto every frame. "Then look at these two," Like a flipbook, she made the pictures go back and forth, simulating a movement of the janitor snapping his fingers, and the wards going bright.
Shadow slid the pictures back, his twitching cheek turning more into a satisified smirk. It was the closest he really did get to smiling. "We can talk to Namine about sketchin..."
The happy cry of "PUPPY" disrupted the investigation. Both the black hedgehog and blonde girl looked back. The cute little girl who was with the janitor was now attacking someone else. This individual was a similar creature to Shadow, with differences. One, he was blue. Two, the spikes were not as prominently sharp. Three, the eyes were rounded and not set into a quasi-glower. "Um, Shadow..." Sunshine asked the question on probably most people's minds, "do you have a brother or cousin that never came up in conversation?"
Shadow slumped back in his chair, sighing, "...Sunshine, you of all people should know that I have no memory of my past, so probably not. It's not like I think every blonde in this city is you."
