Ralph stood silent and at the ready, his arms up with fists clenched. However, he waited for Yang to make the first move and she didn't disappoint. Soon enough, she had launched into an attack that focused mostly on punches aimed at Shadow. However, when he came up closer the young woman kicked out with her leg. He easily blocked the move before watching and waiting for an opening.
His brown eyes darted about as he analyzed Yang's movements, making mental notes about her style and how her break from fighting had effected her strength and abilities. She still seemed in amazing shape given how long it had been since the loss of her arm, but he could tell there were a few points that they might want to work on.
When Yang pressed her advantage on Shadow and sent him flying backwards, the homunculus rolling into a ball to absorb the impact, he suddenly darted forward and dealt a kick to Yang's ankle just when she was unbalanced. However, he was careful to rein in his full strength and focus on using her own unbalanced stance against her.

Shadow was sent flying backwards a little more than Yang had anticipated, and she winced. She hadn't meant to do that. She had to remind herself that was training her, not fighting for her life or trying to win a match in the ring. Still, she couldn't help but feel her adrenaline egging her on, pushing her to come out on top. Yang had had a competitive streak back in the day, and she loved to win, and it wasn't just because of the cash she earned. She liked the cheers she had gotten when she would win, how other fighters would look at her and know she was someone to be reckoned with. She couldn't fight for the same reasons now, not here, and not as an officer. She couldn't win fights for herself anymore. She had to win them to keep other people, and her fellow officers, safe. While her attention was focused on Shadow, Ralph aimed for her ankle. She was knocked off balance, and she landed on her back. However, her fire power instincts kicked in. In any other fight, if she was on the ground defenseless, she would let out a blast of fire before her opponent could attack while she was down. She did just that, flames bursting from her hands. It took her a second to remember that she wasn't going to use fire here, and she reigned them in quickly. "Agh, sorry, sorry!" she said as she got to her feet.

Lesson number two was coming back into play, which was what happened in a big gang fight. Unlike the fighting rings, there were no rules to get a red flag down. Ralph had done just that as Shadow somersaulted forward. The dirt began kicking up dust from the speedy charge forward. The days of getting extra money in the fighting rings was coming back. It had been one of the few places where he was respected and not laughed at or hated because of who he was. He and Yang had never fought in a match before and so this was kind of his way of having that given to him. Hde was about to strike when all of the sudden, a wall of yellow fire starting bursting up.
Well, at least the fire came out later than usual. Shadow had a similar issue with his chaos. He would not even think of tapping into it when a red blast would come out. He had expected the blaze to get closer, but then it just...stopped. He backflipped out of his tight ball, breathing as the hot cinders died in the air.
"Instincts, especially when you've got powers, are tricky," he explained, walking to join Yang and Ralph as she got up. "But you did the right thing in pulling them back."
