"Is that so?"
Suddenly, Manolo's anger turned from burning hot to cold, his expression changing into one that almost looked like contempt. People continued to pass around them as if nothing were happening and to the masses nothing was. However, between the three of them everything else seemed to have fallen away for the moment being.
"Tell that to the man who is embezzling from his workplace, the wife who his cheating behind her husband's back, the teenager who got a gang together and attacked a homeless person. They all heard my song and paid in too small a way for the crimes they hold close to their hearts. And those aren't even the worst."
Now the contempt in his face was clear as he looked at this foolish, interfering woman. She might think she was protecting people from a thief but she knew nothing about any of them while his song had told him what he needed to know.

"Your little spell can't tell you that and manipulate them at the same time!" Jane argued. "Magic is not all seeing or omnipotent."
Unless this guy was literally stalking this marks of his and sitting here. Still, this was the same person who thought that he was doing the right thing by stealing from people who were already corrupt. Two wrongs don't make a right. This did make a certain amount of sense in her own life. It was like her picking a fight with every cop she ran into, which oddly made her feel guilty. But pushing that thought aside, Jane heaved a sigh. Arguing with this guy was like boxing against the wind. He refused to see reason and in his mind, no matter what she said, she would always lose.
"You know what... I don't have to deal with this." she muttered.

"Whatever. I'm out of here."
If this young woman and strange man had hoped to chastise him into changing his ways, they were sorely mistaken. Manolo only felt the anger and loathing he had carried in his heart since Maria had been murdered in cold blood by an officer. She spoke of his magic as if she even knew what he was, scolded him like he was some wayward child that had been caught stealing cookies from a jar, had dared to speak of justice and what was right when she had no idea just how corrupt the very city which surrounded them was.
He had let his anger get the better of him when he should have just walked away. After all, what did the opinion of this one outspoken woman mean to him? Nothing. She might speak of justice and the law but the only justice in this world was the kind you took yourself, the only laws that mattered were those that caught up with you.
With this in mind and with a stiff shrug of his shoulders, the young guitarist turned on his heels and headed down the busy walkway before disappearing into the crowds. He'd earned the money he wanted for that day and besides, there were better pickings to be found in Bellerouge.

Jane sneered at the man's retreating figure. She spared a glance to the interloper and ignored him too, walking back the way she came. Or rather marching. She was steaming mad. Worst of all this made her want to go hunting again. Only, there weren't enough hours left in daylight for her to do so. She would probably just show a movie in class tomorrow to keep her from accidentally taking this frustration out on the kids. They were sweet and didn't deserve that. With the promise of her sweet students in mind, she headed home, already running through a video that she could show them that would tie into the lesson plan.
