Pitch sensed the fear emanating from Esme and let his gaze once more return to her, reading her worries and understanding her fear that she might lose control of her fire and harm someone while also losing her job. However, her request to train her in manipulating her fire caused him to raise an eyebrow at the young woman.
"There is quite a difference between controlling the shadows and manipulating fire, Detective Esme. I do not think you would find the help you seek from someone such as myself, either."
Pitch wasn't a friendly person and mostly kept to himself, so the idea of attempting to train someone in controlling and elemental force wasn't pleasant to the demon.

"Well I don't see anyone else around her spontaneously able to self combust... As far as everyone else you seem to be the only with powers at least similar to mine... a little less volatile probably but.." she says sighing shaking her head. "Forget it I appreciate you understanding though... just not used to the idea even if its been a decade."she says looking still a bit annoyed though mostly at herself then anything else.

While Pitch still wasn't exactly happy towards the idea of training Esme, he had to admit that the young woman had made a valid point. Even within the Others Unit, there were no other individuals outside of Esme and himself who possessed the ability to directly manipulate and control an element. Sunshine had her ability with her hair but it wasn't comparable to fire control or shadow manipulation.
With this thought in mind, Pitch let out a slow sigh before once again addressing his coworker.
"I did not say that I wouldn't help you, Detective Esme. I only spoke of the potential shortcomings of the idea you proposed."

"And when they come up we will make note of the issues and find a way to solve them in a manner without something exploding." she says with a soft smile at the man. "But I know this will be a difficult road considering the big differences... but I hope for at least some better control...I am not expecting perfection but at least enough to where I don't catch fire if something is mildly upsetting."

"If someone believes they have reached true perfection, then they stop striving to improve upon themselves. It is far better to always work to improve oneself then to become so conceited to claim perfection."
Pitch gently held his chin as he looked at Esme, his expression contemplative as he debated on the pros and cons of training the young woman. Still, it seemed as though it would be far better to give her at least some training, even if only a small portion of it stuck with her fire gifts.
"Very well, I will train you. However, it will have to wait as of now until we have apprehended the La Llorona killer. Despite being an undercover detective, the BPD as sanctioned a aid on the side with this case until further notice. Once this case if completed, I will send you a time and place in which to train."
