Jane seemed very ecstatic when Yang offered to take her backstage and meet Omar. Yang was just happy she could make her day. It looked like this girl really wanted to see him face-to-face. Then again, most fangirls were like that. "I'm always up for getting a bite to eat," she replied. "This city has some pretty hip cafes and restaurants. Don't worry, I won't make you treat me to those snobby five-star ones." She doubted she would ever be let into a place like that anyway. Her wardrobe tended to have outfits that were more functional than fashionable. Not to mention, her hygiene could get a little questionable at times.

If tonight went as well as Jane hoped, she would be more than happy to buy Yang any dinner she wanted, even if it was a five star restaurant. If it went well, then Jane would buy Yang a thousand dinners because she honestly didn't know what an introduction to the band meant to her. Besides, Jane was kind of using her in a way to reach her own ends, despite the younger girl offering.
"I think we can sneak you in." she said with a smile. "Besides, there's always a doggie bag if you don't want to eat at the restaurant. They can't exactly say no to cash."

Yang had to smile at that idea. Eating at a fancy place did sound kind of cool, even if it was full of snotty rich people. "If we do it, I'll have to find some kind of dress or something," she replied. "I don't have anything like that." Maybe Sunshine or Namine had something she could borrow, although she did wonder if she would be able to fit in anything they had. Men, and a few women, had remarked before at how "busty" she looked. Depending on who said it, Yang usually replied to the remark with a smile or a knuckle sandwich.

"I might have something that would fit you," Jane said.
Jane had gone to a few five star restaurants. She was never impressed. Portions were hit or miss. But prices were astronomical regardless of what you got. So she always went with a bang, ordered the biggest steak she could, ordered all the sides, she could regret the prices later but the tastes were never disappointing. Though, if she really tried, she could probably make the same thing at home, if she had quality ingredients.

"Thanks," Yang said with a smile. It wasn't every day she met somebody so generous. It looked she and Jane were going to become fast friends. "So, how'd you find out about the Bilge Rats anyway?" she asked curiously. "Did you find them online or what?" She knew Omar had some kind of webpage up for his bad, but Yang was never sure how good it was. People were always a little fickle about putting anything remotely supernatural up on the Internet, and anybody could tell that Omar didn't look exactly human.

"Yeah, I found them online. Love their music!" Jane said.
It was the music that tipped her off. She found that first. Then she found the videos of the band performing, blurry pictures, the band website. It was all enough to make her head spin. She quite literally dropped everything, moved schools, sold her old flat and moved back to the city her foster parents never let her look back upon.
"So how'd you meet the band?"

"I saw them performing at a bar a while back," Yang replied. "I chatted with Omar a bit, we grabbed a bite to eat after that, and we've been friends ever since. We have a lot in common." Both Omar and Yang could be headstrong when they wanted to, but they also liked to help kids.

Omar.
Jane's heart nearly stopped in her chest, her step faltered but she quickly caught up with Yang before the blonde noticed, or rather commented. How many Omars could this city have? It wasn't a very common name. It wasn't like Jane. There were millions of Janes. The pictures, the name, the band, it was all so familiar. The woman kept smiling despite how petrified she suddenly felt. Like her confidence was a fire and a wet blanket had just been thrown over it. Would he even remember her? It had been ten whole years! He never found her or had never seemingly come looking for her. What if he didn't want to see her? How was she supposed to prove she was the Jane he knew? She was already regretting coming out. She had no plan for this!
Judging by the blonde's story, he had moved on, found himself someone else to look after and tried to forget about what happened to her, her mother and her brother. He had Yang now. Not that the blonde would let anyone take care of her, but if they were close... Knowing her dad like she used to, he would try to help Yang with whatever she did if he was fond of her.
"Sounds like you're pretty close with him," Jane said. "I'm a little jealous."

Yang was oblivious to Jane's panicked thoughts and merely gave a shrug at her comment. "Eh, it's not like we're 'together' together," she said, making air quotes with her fingers. "Don't worry, you can fangirl all you like once you meet him." She gave a grin, misinterpreting Jane's worries.

Now that would be horrifying if they were 'together' together. Jane would need to talk to someone about that if her dad moved past her mother and started seeing a girl younger than Jane herself. But Yang didn't know that. And she wasn't sure if she could tell her. What if Yang freaked out? What if Yang refused to help? Or laughed at her?
"Guess we'll have to see when we get to the bar, right?" she said. "What if he doesn't want to see me?"

Yang thought for a moment. She couldn't think of a reason why Omar wouldn't want to meet Jane. Surely a rock star would always be up to meet a fan, right? And Jane wanted to meet him so badly. "Guess I"ll just force him," she said with a laugh. "Don't worry, I can't think of a reason why he wouldn't want to meet you. I guess you could always buy him a drink or something. Free stuff always wins people over." She glanced at Jane before asking "How old are you?" Jane looked around her age, but looks could be deceiving. But if she was under 21, buying Omar a drink was out of the picture. Maybe she could just get some fries or something. Free food was just as good a motivator as free drinks.

"Nineteen." Jane replied.
Nineteen and immortal. Soon she'd probably stop aging like her dad did. Forever young they said. She could think of plenty of reasons why Omar wouldn't want to see her. But she also had to know this for herself or beat herself up over it for another couple hundred years. There was only so long she could avoid finding out the truth, but how to get Omar alone? Yang would probably want to stick around and marvel over the 'groupie' and the singer she had gotten together. She cast Yang a bright smile.
"Yeah, you're probably right!" she said. "I'm just overthinking things! We haven't even gotten there yet!"

"Oh. Well, ixnay on the drink thing then," Yang replied. "Free food works just as well. For me, at least." Jane seemed to cheer up a little bit at Yang's words, which made her happy. "We should reach it soon," she replied. "it's just a couple of more blocks."
((How did you want this thread to continue? Do you want to branch it off into a separate thread at the bar? And did you and Toby want Yang present for Jane and Omar's reunion?))

Jane offered Yang a smile to hide her nervousness. Perhaps she would come clean later. She hated leading Yang along like this but who would believer her? The lead singer of the Bilge Rats, yeah right. She was his long lost daughter? Sounded even more far-fetched.
"We get there quick enough and I'll pay for dinner tonight too!" Jane laughed.

Yang smiled. "Thanks for that," she said. She ran a hand through her hair as she and Jane walked a few more blocks up the road. Within a few minutes, the Bourbon Graisse came into view. "There she is," Yang said with a grin. "Come on. Let's go." She hurried over, pulling Jane along with her.
