It was wicked early in the morning when Pearl arrived at work, still yawning she made her way to the forensics wing and was heading down to the morgue. She had been asked to look over the La Llorona file, a rather disturbing case to be sure. Pearl looked over the photos of the crime scene and the list of items that had been found at the scene. Another yawn came out a as she walked down the hall, she hoped Anna was there. She trusted Anna, though their work ethic was a bit different, Anna had proven to be a hard worker and Pearl respected the girl's intellect. If there was anyone who could help Pearl figure out what they were dealing with, it would be her.

Anna was there.
In fact, she hadn't even left the BPD the previous evening but spent the night sleeping in a small pull-out bed she kept in the medical examination section. Some people might have thought the idea of sleeping in an area where bodies were examined was beyond creepy, but it didn't bother Anna in the slightest. Of course, the BPD frowned on her treating the labs like a second home, so she only slept in her workplace when a really difficult case had been presented. And the La Llorona case was definitely a dousy of a case!
She had woken up a short time ago and was in the process of brushing her teeth and looking over the medical reports for the fifteenth time when she heard the door open and looked up to see Pearl walking in.
"PEARL!"
Anna called out cheerfully to her "coworker in crime" as she liked to call Pearl. Somehow she managed to keep the froth in her mouth from spilling out while still calling out clearly. Toothbrush still jammed in the side of her mouth, Anna pushed up from the table she had been leaning on and gave Pearl a quick hug before dashing over to the sink and rinsing out her mouth.
"Wow, I'm super surprised to see you in this early at the BPD! Usually my morning routine is finished before you even walk through the doors."
She gave a quick gargle before finally spitting out the liquid and turning the sink off.

Anna's habits no longer really bothered Pearl, most of the time they were the result of wanting to work hard...though the tooth paste froth that hanged on her lips was a bit much and it caused her to recoil a bit when Anna hugged her. But Pearl really couldn't ask for a better partner.
Pearl smiled, "Seems you've been having trouble with a case too. Let me guess, the La Llorona?" She made her way over to one of the tables and placed the case files down, "I came in early, because I was hoping we could go over it together. Maybe find some new leads in the case."

"How'd you guess?"
Anna put her toothbrush in the drawer where she kept her 'overnight goodies' and turned to face Pearl, the smile on her face turning into one of mild frustration.
"I've looked over the autopsy reports two hundred and forty-three times and STILL haven't been able to find a single ding dang thing that might shed some new light on the cases. Heard you were having the same problem only from the forensic analysis end."
She hooked a chair with her foot and brought it around to where Pearl was standing next to yet another table, this one thankfully not used to support dead remains.
"But we're both incredibly stubborn, so why not? The two hundred and forty-fourth try might just be the trick, who knows? I've got my file right here so why don't you lay out yours and we'll take a gander."
With that said, Anna plopped the autopsy files of the La Llorona victims down on the table and started to flick them open at random.
