"Yeah. We didn't really get along at first but after working together on a few cases, it was clear there was a lot more alike between us than we'd previously thought. The ball just kept rolling from there and has seen our friendship through some tough times. Honestly, when I left the BPD I wasn't certain if Shadow and I would really see much of each other anymore or even want to. One of the few times I was glad I was wrong."
Ralph's somewhat sour expression changed to one of fond memories as he spoke, recalling the time only a few years back when he and Shadow had worked together and bonded in a way that still found them together even after his break-away from the police department. And while his views of the organization Shadow worked for were far from rosy, nothing had changed his feelings towards his friend.

Sunshine chuckled. Stoic Shadow next to the hotheaded Giant, the image just wouldn't leave her head. He wasn't Shadiw's partner, but the closeness was obviously better than Shadow's old partner Rouge, according to Shadow, had told her about. The smile widened to know they were friends. It wasn't easy for Shadow to openly trust anyone - heck, he didn't trust her when they first met - but at least he softened to her. Who knew how long it took for the giant and the Other to become friends? Longer than it did for her.
"At least you don't let your pride get stung easily.," she rocked on the balls on her heels.

"Nope. Shadow's personal brand of sin is pride while mine tends towards wrath."
He had meant to say it as more of a joke but he realized that his words probably held more truth than he really wanted to admit. His quick temper and hot-blooded nature had gotten him into quite a few sticky situations even before he worked at the BPD and he knew he could probably use a healthy dose of patience in his personality. However, he also knew his anger was one of the reasons his drive to solve crimes and see criminals put away was so strong. That rage could be channeled into a huge amount of energy that had pushed him through some of the toughest cases of his career.
"So how do you like working with the original sourpuss?"

Sunshine stopped rocking. Ralph was mainly making fun of himself when it came to the whole wrath thing. If he ever got angry, she would not want to be in the same room as him. Was his rage the reason he left? It'd make sense. But she didn't want to rub salt onto old wounds. Especially givent hat she and the 'original sourpuss' put their determination into solving a case similarly.
"...He's...good at making sure I come out okay," she answered. "When I started out, I was so nervous. But he showed me the ropes and was super nice about it. I...bring out the best in him, I guess?" She grinned nervously.

Ralph nodded his head sagely as if he perfectly understood what Sunshine was saying even if she wasn't really saying all that much. It probably came from all those years he himself had worked with Shadow. The guy was far too dark and brooding for his own good and, while there was most likely a difficult reason for it, it didn't mean that he should spend his whole life feeling that way. There was too much to live for. And if Sunshine was the one person to get him out of his moods then the Giant was glad the two of them had ended up working together.
"Sounds like you two must make a pretty formidable team. And I'm glad to hear that Shadow finally partnered up with someone who can insert some positivity into his personality."

"I don't know. I could picture you two being a...kind of, sort of, cool partnership," Sunshine made a so-so motion with her hand. She totally pictured Shadow using his chaos in a fight while Ralph used his brute strength. Speed and power coming together to be an ultimate superforce. Her freckled cheeks flared at the positivity remark. "ell, the Seddon family is known for being sunny. Ironic that our bakery is all centered around ravens and death and whatnot. There are times where I feel we're the love-children of the Brady Bunch and the Addams Family."

Ralph couldn't help but give a hearty laugh at Sunshine's description of her family. He had gone into the Nevermore a few times to get the occasional coffee and baked good and the atmosphere of the place really was like an Edgar Allen Poe story only much happier.
"At least you know your family covers a lot of ground."
However, at his last words Ralph couldn't help but let out a loud yawn. As pleasant as it was to have run into Sunshine and be given the chance to learn about their connection through Shadow, he was still exhausted from his all-night lookout and knew he was reaching the point where he might simply collapse.
"Look, I'm really sorry to have to cut this short but if I don't get back to my place to crash for a bit, I might end up sleeping on the curb or something. But hey, if you aren't too sick of talking to this Giant yet I could drop in sometime at the Nevermore."
He left that part of the conversation politely open to Sunshine. If she wanted to continue this conversation, great, and if she didn't it was no skin off of his nose.

Ralph was awfully blunt about having to go. But then again, the yawn that escaped his throat was probably a big hint that he needed to go lie down. He was right. If a Giant curled up on the park bench, it'd be money out of her his hard-earned bank account. Sunshine smiled, glad to know he wasn't tired of talking to her. It seemed a lot of people just wanted to hang out with her all the sudden. "Yeah, that sounds good. You get a well-earned power nap back at your place," she crossed her arms with a cheeky smile. "Otherwise, I may do what I do to Shadow when he refuses to nap, and well..." she chuckled, realizing that maybe her mini cast iron that she carried for self defense wouldn't be the best. She had only used it on Shadow once to get him to take a nap one day, "I doubt it'd work on you. But anyways, best not be keeping you from a cozy bed."

Ralph gave another small chuckle before throwing his hands up in mock surrender.
"Hey, that's one offer I think I'll pass on but thanks all the same. Hope to see you around the old café sometime."
With that said, he offered a little salute that was politely joking to Sunshine before once again heading down the sidewalk towards his apartment and a much needed nap.

Sunshine let a mischievous laugh. Ralph could play along with her, which was good. She waved after him, going to pick up the toppled art supplies to get back to work. Shadow, it seemed, had very good taste in friends ((End thread))
