"My last partner." she said softly. "He just... left. Here one day, gone the next."
Neither had his family. His other friends hadn't said anything either. People didn't just vanish into thin air. That's not how it worked. One day she went to bed, her boyfriend and partner next to her, and the next, he was gone, as if he had never even existed in the first place. All she had left were his things that were left in the apartment. It's what crushed her so much. She had no answers. No nothing.

"That's...something we have in common."
Saying it out loud was like cutting off his foot; a foot that he never could amputate due to being created from almost every heavy metal excluding iron. He was only confident talking about his amend is with only a select few. The only civilian he trusted and told was Yang.
"If Sunshine didn't tell you, I'll save her trouble. I...I can't remember anything about my past. I have no clues at all. Even with Maria..I don't know anything except I cared about her and she died, that's it."

"Maybe... You should talk to Namine," Aqua said.
She now felt absolutely horrendous. She was betraying the little blonde's trust like this since Aqua was one of the few on the force who knew Namine was gifted. The small girl usually used her powers to get the drawings right of the criminals who hurt people. Occasionally, she made them forget after big court cases, saying it was easier for them to forget than it was to live with the memories. She healed the hurt. But that was only if she had the absolute consent of the person who had been victimized. She said it would have been easier for her if she were able to forget. But she never said what she wanted to forget.
"She has powers related to memories."

"I'll keep that in mind."
Someone with power over memories...the idea was tempting. The only reason Shadow didn't fully commit was because he had mixed feelings towards getting the truth of his past revealed. Beyond the frustration, he was scared; he just didn't like admitting it out loud. Maybe it could lead to answers on his connections to Maria, to that eye...to why Pitch was involved
Shadow...come to the cemetery. Answers await you.
The deep throated voice was one he didn't know. But there was something in him forcing him to comply. He couldn't explain. As Shadow stepped forward, a sensation like a headache stopped him, physically forcing him to turn around.
"I'm sorry, I have to go," he told Aqua. "I...I'll see you at work tomorrow."
His jets shot him down the side of Riverfront, through the familiar street signs and traffic lights, all of it blurring as he sped, having no choice but to obey the voice who beckoned him

"Shadow, where are you going?" she called.
It was too late. She could never hope to keep up with someone his speed. She was left alone on the street corner, slightly worried. She bit her lip. Under normal circumstances she would have kept her mouth shut, but now, she felt she had to find Sunshine and tell her how squirrelly her partner had been acting. She hurried through the dark streets, hoping to find Nevermore still open by the time she got there.

"I'm sorry, Aqua!" Shadow repeated. He couldn't stop, even by trying to coast to a brake. Every time he did, the pulsing pain in his head began, like he was being punsihed just for stopping for thirty seconds. He had to find the source of this person. All he hoped was that it wasn't Thrax. ((end thread))
