Adrien had just arrived to give his statement from the night of the LaFayette Ball. He had to use crutches due to his injury. A clean break, luckily in his ankle and not his knee or thigh. That would have ruined his career for good. Besides, his father had the best healers money could buy. Adrien would be back to normal in a few weeks. His father had been furious. One with the LaFayette family for not having heightened security and inviting the 'lower class rebels' to the event and with the police for letting Thrax get away. Personally, Adrien was thankful for a break from his modeling career, even if it was an actual break that caused the pause.
The model was guided to a seat by the secretary who he believed was a big fan of his and took a picture when she thought he wasn't looking. Needless, he just needed to sit for a minute, catch his breath once more and wait for his driver - Gorilla - to come get him after he was done giving his statement. He checked his phone. It seems he was going to have some time before that happened. His driver did have an errand to run for his father. Adrien sighed. There were so many people that were impacted by the aftermath of the Ball. Maybe he should set up a trust for everyone who needed help after the ball. Quite a few people were hurt and some of them simply wouldn't be able to handle the bills of seeing a doctor or a healer.

"Adrien Agreste?"
The tall and slender form of Pitch stepped forward towards the young man with the crutches and looked at him expectantly. He was the next in a long line of witnesses that the demon and the rest of the BPD had been interviewing since the attack of Thrax at the LaFayette Mansion. The station had been bursting with witnesses for hours now and it looked like it would continue for the remainder of the day before they finally finished with all of them.
"Follow me and we can get started."
Pitch didn't pause and wait on the young man but was already moving towards the doorway that led into his office quarters. The young man might be hurt but it was clear enough he could move around just fine. And really, he just wanted to finish with all the interviews and get to the actual investigation.
Pitch hadn't told anyone but he was secretly furious with the way Thrax had managed to escape. After all, he had used a technique of his that had always ensnared and entrapped his intended targets in the past only for the crimson demon to escape with ease. It had made his efforts seem pointless and he was determined to intercept this demon. Also, there were things he wanted to know.....
"In here, please."
Pitch turned and opened the door to his office, waiting for Adrien to step inside so they could get started.

"Yes," Adrien confirmed.
Adrien quickly got to his feet, lacking his usual grace and finesse he normally had but he managed to hobble behind the busy officer. He wasn't about to let the crutches get in his way. And luckily the other officers passing around them stepped out of his way or at least moved a chair out of his way as he followed the officer. He stepped inside the man's office and waited. The officer was a demon, which came as a bit of a surprise but not entirely shocking to the system. Who better to catch demons than demons themeselves?
"I've never given a statement before. So just tell me what you need to know," Adrien said.
If anything he knew could help catch the guy, it would help Adrien sleep a little better. It left him infuriated that he couldn't go out as Chat Noir - do his own searching. He knew the man had been a demon. That much had been obvious by the sheer power he had. Adrien had never had a run in with the law. Never even spoken to a police officer unless it was wishing that they 'have a good day' or perhaps a polite nod when he saw them on the street. Chat was different but Adrien wasn't his alter ego. Not right now anyways.

"Take a seat first."
Pitch nodded towards the simple chair set in front of his desk before taking a seat himself and bringing up a new witness document on his computer. The office they were in didn't have much in the way of personal decorations and seemed almost sterile when compared to the other offices at the BPD.
Other then the desk and two chairs, all that occupied the space were some filing cabinets and a single bookshelf packed with criminology texts. The windows were covered by thick curtains of black that let in very little light and the only unique objects within the space were an unusual clock modeled after a raven and a single rubber ducky.
The duck was from Anna and every office in the BPD had at least one from the eccentric medical examiner. And no matter how many times he tried to put the duck away, it always ended up back on his desk in the same place. He'd long since given up trying to get rid of it.
"State your name, age, address and group classification."
Pitch sat in his chair and looked across his desk at Adrien with his unsettling eyes, waiting. Almost all the previous witnesses before him had been somewhat uncomfortable in Pitch's presence and halting in giving their accounts. He waited in silence, wondering if this witness would be like most of the others.

Adrien nodded. He sat down in the chair, placing his crutches next to him. He wasn't going to say it exactly, but it was a relief to sit down. His leg still hurt a little. He smiled a little over the duck on the man's desk. It was actually kind of funny to see the demon officer with a cute and innocent little toy on his desk. Adrien would have liked to hear the story behind it.
"I'm Adrien Agreste, 23 and I'm a gifted human." he said. "And your name officer?"
The demon seemed to be glaring him down. Adrien had dealt with plenty of dark looks in his career. But this was a police officer. Granted one who didn't even know his alter ego existed. He was also here to talk about the demon who attacked at the party. The sooner they got that man arrested, the better. Especially since he hurt people.

Pitch typed in the information the young man offered without much interest. However, he paused when Adrien asked what his name was. Most people were too intimidated by even regular cops to ask for their names let alone a demon detective. Clearly the young man wasn't the kind to be made anxious or uncomfortable easily.
"Detective Pitch Black."
He spoke softly and yet the sound seemed to be all that existed in the office at that moment.
"You attended the Masquerade Ball at the Lafayette Mansion on the date of August 25th, correct?"
Pitch's tone was still smooth and neutral but his attention was focused more on Adrien now then it had been for any of the previous witnesses he had interviewed. All of the people before had, to some degree, tasted of fear to the demon. It was fear of what had happened, fear of what they had seen, fear of pain, even fear of Pitch himself.
However, there was no fear in Adrien.

"Yeah," he said, somewhat defeated. "I was."
He wasn't exactly a lot of help when he was there. Weiss had gotten hurt and she had pushed him out of the way. He got hurt. He wasn't so much afraid of the demon as he was angry. It was one thing to threaten his personal safety but when it came to his friends... That was another thing. If only he were actually in any shape to go out, he would have already led the cops straight to the guy.
Adrien had been frustrated by his injury, his helplessness with the situation, and that some stranger risked his life to protect him - the giant. It left a bitter taste in his mouth. He had tried not to be helpless or unable to do things for himself after he realized just how nice he had life. He had things so easy that he felt the burden was disproportionate.

Pitch could feel the frustration and bitterness coming off of Adrien, but there was still none of the fear that had plagued the other witnesses. That itself told him something of Adrien's character. After all, he had been harmed in the attack and had been present for the entire incident because of it whereas the rest of his witnesses had fled long before Thrax had attacked.
"What did you see and hear at the scene?"
He left the question wide open and merely waited. Adrien might be a more useful witness to the BPD simply because he had been present for the whole attack and also because he seemed to be possessed of a levelheadedness that few of the other people had.

Adrien's hands tightly clenched around the arm rests on the chair. He took a deep breath to calm himself. Anger boiled under his skin. His father had been furious that Adrien had been hurt. Adrien was furious because others got hurt. It was hard for anyone to see how the two could be related when they had two different moral alignments. However, Adrien took after his late mother that way.
"I was with Weiss Lafayette and her friend Anna Castille. Weiss and I just stepped onto the dance floor when we heard a rumbling upstairs." Adrien recounted. "She... noticed there was trouble first. She pushed me out of the way when the ceiling gave. A beam or something pinned down my leg."
That feeling of helplessness ate at him. He felt completely useless as everyone fought back. Even Weiss seemed to have shaken this one off without any problems. Adrien was having a hard time. Weiss being choked... The cops fighting back. People running and screaming. It was enough to give him nightmares for a good while.
"One of the other guests pulled me out of the way when that demon attacked Weiss. She... She scolded him for ruining her party." he snorted since it was just so much like her to do that.

Pitch didn't nod his head or offer words of comfort and encouragement. He wasn't the type for that sort of thing and never would be. Instead, he merely listened and took down notes as Adrien spoke, giving his own account of what had happened at the party.
"Can you describe the assailant?"
This was just standard procedure. Every detective and cop present had seen the demon for themselves but they had to have a physical description from each witness nonetheless.
"Also, what is your relationship to Weiss Lafayette and Anna Castille. And do you know the name of the guest who aided you?"

"The guy was tall. Maybe 6' 1" or 2" and he wore a black coat. He had this massive claw. He threatened Weiss." Adrien muttered. "And his eyes were yellow... He was Other but I'm not sure what."
Adrien honestly hadn't gotten a good look. He had been far more concerned with Weiss and then after he was freed, his bum leg took a bit of priority since it ached like the devil. Then after that the giant was shielding him from further attack and injury, despite Adrien being quite stupid at the time, thinking he could run off and play hero with a busted leg. He wouldn't even have gotten free without help.
"My father and Weiss' father are business partners. I met Miss Castille that night." Adrien listed. "And... I think someone said his name was Ralph? I don't know. I was whisked out of there pretty quickly after the guy got away."

Pitch looked up from his screen as Adrien described Thrax but stated that he didn't know what kind of Other he was.
"The assailant was a Demon."
His tone only held the slightest note of how something like this should be obvious, his own yellow eyes staring across the desk at the young man. Demons could be hard to classify because they came in a variety of shapes, sizes, and descriptions. However, all demons had one thing in common and that was their yellow eyes.
He continued to write down notes as Adrien spoke, filling in the questionnaire as he had already repeatedly done. However, at the name 'Ralph' he paused before putting down the information in a separate column.
"Had you ever seen the assailant before the attack?"

"I didn't get a good look," Adrien said.
Adrien hadn't had a lot of exposure to demons. Sure they were in the modeling industry. Why wouldn't they be? It was full of stuff that demons loved. His father made sure he never had direct contact with the demons. Mostly because his father feared that they would corrupt the young man. His father hated Others without even realizing that his wife and son had both been gifted others. His father wasn't exactly around a lot when Adrien was growing up. He knew better than to show his father he was a gifted human now. He would be out on the streets faster than Chat Noir could break into a vault.
"No. I've never seen him before. But he knew one of the girls by name. I think her name was Adeline?" he said.

"Yes. I would suggest that you refrain from speaking to anyone about this young woman. For the safety of her and everyone else."
Pitch was well aware that many of the guests had seen Adeline when she lost control of her powers and, while they didn't know her name, could stir up even more trouble for the young witch then there already was.
"Did you see anyone else that looked suspicious at the ball?"
It was barely perceptible, but the demon's tone had grown firmer. This question was a serious one that he himself was taking a vested interest in. Someone had helped Thrax escape. Pitch knew this like his knew his own shadows because he had marked the other demon's powers when he had created the shadow shroud. The room had been completely sealed and Thrax shouldn't have been able to escape, but someone had opened a Portal for him.
And Pitch was going to find out who it was.

"Uh, yeah, I can do that," Adrien said.
His mind jumped to witness protection. The police had to keep her safe, out of public eye and protected from the guy at the ball. The demon had been after her, ready to hurt her and go through anyone who got in his way or at least until he was in public eye and outmatched. What if no one had intervened? Adrien shuddered to think of what he would have done to her.
"There's this guy. His name is Mozenrath." Adrien said. "I suppose you could say we run in the same social circle. He was kissing up to Weiss' parents and I could tell it bothered her so that's why I took her to the dance floor. So I could distract her. I doubt he had anything to do with it but he's shifty. I didn't see him after the... incident."
