“Is everyone ready?” Pitch spoke through his earpiece to the various BPD Others Officers that currently surrounded the perimeter of what appeared to be an abandoned sugar factory and warehouse. The Terror Demon was his usual cool and collected self in appearance as he stood concealed and ready at the southeast corner of the warehouse. However, his tone held the slightest note of anticipation as his yellow eyes took in the derelict façade of the building.
At long last, the BPD had finally managed to trace the drug ring codenamed ‘Gray Dawn’ to this warehouse. It had taken months of work, a large ring of underground tips, and even more resources to finally reach this point. Sunshine and Shadow’s evidence find had managed to lead them to this location along with connecting it to the new drug hitting the streets and Pitch’s and Esme’s own work had linked this largely unknown drug ring to the three cartel murder sprees from two months ago along with several other recent homicides. With the new Louisiana drug laws fully in effect and the addition of several homicides, the BPD had been given the go ahead by the Commissioner to finally apprehend ‘Gray Dawn.’ They had arrived at the factory over an hour ago and begun the necessary preparations for storming the factory and arresting anyone present.
The Others Unit had been given priority on this assignment simply to avoid as much bloodshed as possible. It was clear from the homicides and mass gang killings that Grey Dawn was extremely dangerous, wouldn’t go down without a fight and would try to take as many officers with them as possible. Not only that, but they were clever enough to avoid being discovered for this long. Even now, it was still unclear to the BPD what drug Grey Dawn was pushing and what it even did to its users. Therefore, the Others Unit had taken the leading role. With their combined abilities, gifts and powers, it was hoped that they would be able to end the fighting before too much blood was spilt. Now, the time had come to begin their operation and put an end to Grey Dawn. “Repeat, is everyone ready to begin?”

The red sky seemed all the more ominous in the dark, overlooking warehouse. In the dark, the river looked almost black. Gray Dawn had been working under the BPD's noses all this time, in a warehouse that showed no signs. The only subtle clue was a small graffiti gray sun on one side of the warehouse.
"We've been ready since we found the Sapien," Shadow responded, keeping his voice low. There was an edge of annoyance. The Comissioner had been holding on following the lead for some time.
Sunshine was crouched by her partner. Rather than her usual pink and lilac attire, she had gone with a dark purple that helped her blend in the night a little more. She was focused on watching the doors and windows in case some members of Gray Dawn were trying to give them the slip. She may have looked content but deep down, she was nervous. It was her first silent takedown. Shadow had gotten her ready, but could she pull it off?

"In position." Aqua confirmed. "Ready on your signal."
She took a deep breath. From where she was positioned she couldn't see the others but she had a clear view on her entrance. As the 'eye in the sky' type, she had to be up above the others, ready to swoop in if things got hairy. She knew they would. With things like this, they always went south. All the careful planning in the world couldn't change that one of those suspects was going to do something desperate to either kill cops or escape them.
She had her gun ready, with her flashlight fixed to the top of it, just in case. She always did like to be prepared for the worst. With drugs involved, things were likely to get a bit uncomfortable for everyone involved. Another deep breath left her lips. It will be quick, she told herself. They would get the job done. She always felt a little anxious over big cases like this. Mostly because there were so many elements outside of her control.

"Ready." Jim and Dimitri both said. The brothers had their guns ready like always. They also had their other weapons in case it was needed. Ever since the disaster at the Lafayette mansion they decided it would be best if they kept their other weapons on them instead of in the trunk of Dimitri's car.

"Then begin Operation Grey Dawn."
Pitch spoke once more into the earpiece as each of his fellow Others detectives verified that they were ready. He turned his gaze once more to the factory. Nothing had moved during their prep time and they had kept their arrival concealed, hidden behind the other dilapidated structures that crowded around the sugar factory. All in all, it appeared that the element of surprise was theirs and, if they played this right, the BPD would be able to catch the drug dealers off guard before they could mount a proper defense.
Still, something about the situation didn't sit quite right with the demon. However, no matter how hard he tried to decipher this feeling, he couldn't. Now, the time had come to act before they lost their advantage.
With the order given, Pitch allowed himself to be swallowed up by the shadow of a nearby building. In the next moment, he stepped forward out of the darkened space inside the factory, his arms holding a long and pure black bow and arrow at the ready as he listened and watched, waiting for his fellow detectives to enter the building at the various points they had been positioned. They were to sweep the entire building, subduing and arresting anyone they found.
However, at the moment the whole factory was perfectly silent. Old equipment, conveyor belts and empty crates lay strewn across the floor, many broken and all dark with age. The floor was covered in dirt and all the windows were coated with filth that filtered in little to no light while around the inner walls ran two levels of walkways, cobwebs clinging to their metal surface. The faint smell of sugar was still present, but mixed with it was the scent of dust, rusting metal and something else....
Pitch took this all in, waiting on the Other detectives to enter the space. After the allotted time, the demon slowly and quietly moved forward, stepping along the winding corridors that had been formed by the debris left at the factory's closing.
"Officer Pitch in first position."
The words were less then a whisper as Pitch continued to move forward. His eyes quickly darted around the room, but it appeared as quiet and empty as before. His sense of something being out of place only increased.

"Operation Gray Dawn initated."
With those words, Shadow gripped Sunshine's hand. In order to not lose her when he teleported, they had to maintain touching. It was something they had learned the hard way back in Thorn Manor. lHe glanced towards the wall, thinking about what could be behind there. What was it that a sugar factory was meant to be a hiding spot? Were they smuggling Sapien into candy? Who knew.
In a flash of blue light, Shadow and Sunshine were gone, the balcony where they hid empty.
Inside the factory, the blue flash opened before disappating. Shadow felt for his pistol and grabbed it. Pointing it low, he checkedt eh surroundings. The glistening not unlike obsidian gave away that Pitch was already looking around. Sunshine clicked her own pistol out, tiptoeing on the catwalk she and Shadow had ended up on in their entrance. She gripped her hair with one hand. It would be risky to use her magic just for light, as it would drain her if they ever needed a healer if they got assaulted.
The catwalk wrung swung as they crossed over to the next platform. They had gotten onto one of the two walkways, studying the layout. Vats were showing signs of caked sugar in its hayday. When that hayday was had been anyone's guess. A cobweb brushed against Sunshine's hand, and she had to bite her lip to prevent her self from crying out. Pitch announced he was up and ready, and she responded first.
"Officer Seddon in second position."
"Officer Griffiths in second position," Shadow echoed.

"In third position," Aqua said, following suit.
Slipping in through the skylight hadn't been hard. There was a window where the glass had been busted out. Getting her wings through had been a little tricky, especially since the opening was an iron wrung window. The entire factory felt boiling hot to her. Iron was everywhere. One touch and she would get a burn like no other. All the more reason to stay airborne. She flitted between the rafters. Not good. Not good at all. She would have to be extremely careful.
She cast a wary look around, checking to make sure the coast was clear. Something was wrong. It was quiet, too quiet. She didn't hear anyone. Not even the people supposed to be moving the shipment of Sapien. Her pointed ears twitched slightly as she strained for any noise, anything at all, even a mouse. With the factory as dark as it was, she was having a hard time seeing anything. If she used her flashlight she would give herself away.
"Guys?" she questioned, wondering if they noticed it too.

"In fourth and so is Jim." Dimitri said. The brothers had entered through a window. Their backs were to each other and they moved as one being. Each covering the other. Both brothers scanned the room with their eyes and saw nothing. No bugs or rodents. Nothing.
"Jim?" Dimitri whispered to his brother. "This feel off to you?"
"Yeah it's way to quiet." Jim said reaching for a knife laced with holy water that was hanging from his belt. He saw Dimitri reach for one on his own belt.

Pitch listened in as each officer moved into position and it was clear from their own comments that they too felt something wasn’t right. Even if they hadn’t expected a police raid, drug rings always had guards posted around the perimeter to protect the operation. And where was the equipment used to produce the drugs, the prepared and stored product ready for shipment, the alarm to warn them that their base had been infiltrated? There wasn’t even any sound to break the silence other than the scurrying of rodents. All this passed silently through the demon officer’s head as he began to slowly work his way forward along the floor of the factory and towards the section where it merged with the warehouse, his bow and arrow at the ready. He was just moving stealthily around a large stack of crates when his golden eyes suddenly spotted a flicker of movement several yards from his position. It was a dark shape that immediately disappeared behind a blind turn created by abandoned equipment. In the silence, he could hear the gentle sound of soft footsteps fleeing towards the warehouse. Immediately, Pitch spoke into his earpiece as he cautiously moved forward, following the trail of the figure but at a distance. “Officer Black in pursuit of figure spotted in the western corner of the factory and heading south towards the warehouse.” Perhaps this was one of the guards fleeing back towards the base of operation. Perhaps the drug ring had been located within the warehouse section this entire time, hence the silence of the factory. All of those were strong possibilities, but still…..

The silence of the old warehouse just made the place creepier. Shadow and Sunshine tested the doors they each faced. One was locked or jammed, as was the second one. But the third one opened. Uncharacteristicly, it opened with no squeak or creak not any other nose. Both cops looked at one another
The room contained an elaborate sketch of the city drawn in chalk. Several locations were circled. A route was dashed along the edges.
"Um...Shad?" Sunshine was staring at her big discovery.
She had found the remains of a large Sapien box. The wood was still splintered from the bail holes. But sprayed on in cheap paint was the saying;
OTHERS ARE GOING BACK TO HELL
Beneath it were photographs. All of them are before and after shots. A couple showed healthy Others, the second showed them looking...more colored, but almost dead in the eyes.
And then Pitch called a pursuit. Shadow activated his comm and answered, "Detectivd Griffiths heading to the warehouse. Sunshine's keeping some evidence secure.
His vision became almost tunnel like as he dashed out if the room. The jets in his boots were becoming white noise. His sparks would be the only light, and it would last temporarily. He opened a door, curbing a right side in case this fugitive had backup. He paused just around the corner, his pistol ready.
Footfalls occurred as the runner approached. Shadow braced himself as the runner came ten feet. Five feet...
Three feet away, and Shadow lunged, knocking the runner to the ground, holding his pistol up.

Aqua held her breath when Pitch said he was chasing someone. From her vantage point, she couldn't see the ground well enough, not when there were rows and rows of machinery she couldn't get near and shelves that used to hold stock. She flit about, trying to find where exactly this 'shady' figure was running. She only managed to catch sight of the man when Shadow burst in, absolutely ruining the whole 'element of surprise'. She made a face but hovered overhead.
-----
Chat landed on the rooftop of the building across the street. Thanks to the crime blotter he heard about this one in time. But for now, he was going to wait outside of the building and watch. It was pretty much the entire force that was going into this one, which Chat thought was a horrible idea. Surely this operation could have been settled with fewer officers, right? The thief shook his head. It wasn't like the police would listen to him, even if he was better at sneaking into places than they were. He would let them do their sting operation.
However, if things got messy, he would have to intervene. He owed two of the officers after all. He really hated owing people anything, especially cops, even if it was Sunshine and Shadow. The duo may have disliked what he did but they were honest about it at least. His claws clicked over the tile of the roof he tapped them along. For now, he just had to wait and watch, even if he wasn't really the patient type.

When they heard that Pitch was in pursuit of someone, and that Sunshine had evidence, the brothers exchanged a look. Should they stay together or split up to help either Pitch or Sunshine? Each brother had different conflicts running through their minds. Dimitri wanted to protect his younger brother like he always had, but he also knew that Jim was old enough to take care of himself. Jim wanted to help his friends, but he also wanted to be near his brother if things went south.

"Dimitri, Jim. Stay back to protect our rear."
Pitch addressed the Colt brothers through his earpiece as he continued to pursue the unknown figure along the dank floor of the factory. Shadow and Aqua soon joined in with the pursuit and the demon had only just turned a corner, stepping into the warehouse section of the building, when he saw Shadow knock the suspect to the ground and keep them pinned under his pistol.
Pitch relaxed the hold on his bow but didn't release it as he stepped forward next to his fellow detective to see the suspect. It was a young woman, probably no older than 18 or so with lank brown hair tied back in a loose ponytail, tattered jeans and an overly large hoodie. She looked up at the two of them with grey eyes that seemed huge with fear and she was panting like she had just run a marathon. The right side of her face was caked with what looked like barely drying blood and her hands were in rough shape, almost as if she had been in a fight recently.
However, as her gaze took them in, focusing over the badges on their chests, an expression of relief seemed to mix with those already present.
"Thank God! I thought it was them, I thought they had come back to finish me off!"
Even though Shadow's gun never left her, the woman seemed close to tears of joy and relief at seeing them. Pitch looked down at this with no expression, aware of the scent of fear coming off of her and yet thinking that it didn't seem to smell.....well, right. Something was off about the girl but he would have to focus on that later. Instead, he knelt down in front of her and spoke, his eyes never once leaving her face and watching her expressions carefully.
"Who are you and why are you here?"

"You two might want to come look at this,"
Sunshine had turned on her com to chime in with Pitch's request to stay behind. By giving them something to do, they could at least work as a team unit. She was studying the box of Sapien, trying to pry it open with the handle of her cast iron. The little pan had once been her closest thing to a gun, but after Shadow had actually managed to get her a hand in it proerply at the training grounds, she only carried it as a sort of good luck charm. A good luck charm that was now prying the wood free.
The crate fell open, and if Sunshine hadn't caught it, the crash would have given it away. She shone her flashlight inside the box. Taped labels were on boxes, listing the name of different Others. She picked up a box labeled 'DEMON' and peeked inside. Amber prescription bottles filled with Sapien were tucked inside, but alongside it were green and pale blue stones.
Whoever was in charge of this was making Sapien more dangerous that it already was... _______________________________ The woman Shadow and Pitch cut off was looking up at them with her eyes wide. Shadow hadn't lowered his stance, but his grip on the gun loosened slightly. She was beaten and bleeding. Multiple fights made him see she had been punched about a few hours ago. The girl stood and disted herself off.
"I'm just someone who was minding my own business. Next thing I know, I'm tasting chloroform. I wake up to a group of people holding vials and saying it was a success. I was trying to find a way to get out..."
Shadow said nothing. The woman's description had some holes. If Gray Dawn was attacking innocent civilians, why this one woman? It didn't match with the kidnappings and rings Pitch and Esmeralda had been investigating. The clues had pinpointed to Others being targetted. This woman looked like any human strolling around. It was plausible that it had been a mix up, but why beat her up? To make their operation public? Also, if she had been an Other, chloroform was not something that took out Others easily.

"A civilian?" Aqua murmured. "Here?"
It was hard to keep back her surprise. They weren't informed there would be innocent targets here. Then again, what proof did they have that the woman was even telling the truth? She was seemingly handling the stress of being kidnapped oddly well. Aqua's last run in with a case like that the victim had been a blubbering mess, sobbing and clinging to her out of the fear.
"We should get her out of here," Aqua said. "Take her back to the others."
They could take her back to Sunshine and the Colt brothers, put her in the back of a squad car under the pretense of safety. They could watch the woman in case she truly was a victim or a suspect here. Either way, the person would be out of the way in case things got messy. Then they could continue on with the sting.
