Adrien couldn't help but laugh. He could only imagine his father's assistant, his personal trainer and his dietitian screaming in protest. They didn't even know about his plans to bake cookies. Even if it wasn't supposed to do anything to his body, they only wanted him to eat organic and mind his sugar intake. Naturally Adrien secretly ate things that he was directly told not to. He was particularly fond of sweets.
"Sounds great." he told her. "Bring something you like and I'll cover all of the cookie dough."

"Hmmm...does that count organic chocolate chips?" Elsa teased.
Organic. What a joke. The last time she had all natural chocolate chips, she had to spit them out. The bitterness was more akin to taking wads of dirt, rubbing them into small balls, and then popping them in your mouth. Bubble tea had more of a flavor than those things did. She was fond of the holiday baking season, especially because all of her favorite flavors were returning. Chocolate was one thing she refused to ever give up in her life.

"I'm offended." Adrien said, feigning hurt.
Maybe a little bit of his 'Chat-ish' nature was starting to show. He had to reel it in. At least she hadn't met his thief self. But organic chocolate chips sounded gross, even to him. No. He did prefer the handmade chocolates but store bought chocolate chips were just as good too. He wasn't exactly sure what he was going to do with as many cookies as he intended to make, but he would figure something out. Chat could always play Santa.
"Actually, there's a chocolatier off of main street." he admitted. "He and his wife helped me."
His fondness for little businesses was apparent. The owner was an elderly old man who ran the shop with his wife. They did mostly everything by hand, to keep the 'traditional' taste. Adrien contracted them out to make all of his sweets. The couple had learned the art in Belgium. The Europeans really knew how to make chocolates, at least in Adrien's opinion. Name brand chocolates were good. He wouldn't turn down a sweet if it was offered to him, but he did prefer the higher end chocolates.

When Adrien dropped his guard down, he could be a very likable guy. It was a shame the act had to be up so often. If life was the Oscars, then he would be one of the top contendirs for best actor. Elsa found her face crinkling, a genuine laugh escaping at his quip. She hadn't laughed for real in a while.
The last genuine laugh she had shared had been with Ralph. But giving the distance he was putting, the likelihood of it happening again was rare.
"What was the name of their shop?" Elsa asked, joining Adrien in the shifting topic.

"Schoko-Laden." he said. "Can't miss it."
It was simple. It was German for Chocolate Shop. Not very creative but he had also seen worse company names. Like cup of noodle. Gee, wonder what they sold. But the German had a nice flow to it. Belgium did have two languages after all - French and German. The German made it stand out when all of the other shops around it used French, Spanish or English. Plus, the owners were some of the sweetest people he knew, pun intended, but they were really nice.
"They make a really good chocolate truffles and well... chocolate cake."

Elsa nodded in confirmation. Easy name to remember. "I'll have to give them a visit some time. Belgian chocolate in the heart of Louisiana is not an easy thing to come by."
Her stomach growled almost perfectly on cue as she said that/ It'd be risky to go into Schoko-Laden after the whole paparazzi situation. Besides, to give a nice couple unexpected business that meant harrassing a boy who came in all the time would be unfair. She sufficed to quench her hunger by looking around for something wholesome. Nevermore was always a good stop. She looked at the park wing that opened out to Riverfront, glancing back to Adrien,
'If you want, I'm going to pick up a croissant bite down at Nevermore. I could use a friendly face to talk to. And since you can't make the Seddons New Years, at least meeting them in their environment would count."

Her offer to go to Nevermore almost sent him pale if he hadn't had such good control over his expressions. Faking his demeanor wasn't hard anymore with all the faux acting he had to do around his father's clients. That was a bad idea for him. Not only because Sunshine was a part of the Seddon family, but because the media could go find him again, harass the Seddon family about further connection with him. It's why he often tried to go out in disguise.
"U-Uh, right now?" he asked. "I don't think it's a good idea. I should probably go find my bodyguard. He's not going to be happy I gave him the slip or that the media found me."
He could already see the headlines now. Bellerouge's Top Model Caught Walking in the Park. Searching for Drugs or A Secret Rendezvous? His father was going to be livid. He could only hope they left Elsa out of their stories. The media had a horrible time twisting facts to make for an interesting read.

"Adrien, is a family reputation really all you care about?"
Elsa was folding her arms, giving Adrien a quizzical look. There he went again, trying to come up with an excuse to actually be his age for once. She had been in his situation before. It wasn't healthy to give into something that, quite frankly, most people didn't even bat an eyelash to. She lowered her stance, racking her brain for a compromise. If Adrien was afraid to go in on his own, then having his 'babysitter' would be worth something. Besides, between a burly man and and ice powers, no one would touch him.
"Your bodyguard can come with us. Doubles the stay away card from the fans."

"W-What? No!" Adrien said hastily. "It's just whenever I'm seen in any store or anything... It just gets really hard on the shop owners because my fans try to go there more on the off chance I go back. I don't want to cause the Seddons any trouble."
And he was avoiding Sunshine, but that was a better excuse to give Elsa because it was partially true. The best lies were the ones that contained some hint of truth to them. Nevermore was already the most popular coffee shop in Bellerouge without being a chain. If Adrien waltzed in, things might get complicated. Which was why, whenever he begged his bodyguard to go there, the man went in, picked up Adrien's order while the young man sat in the car, like a child. It was a bit frustrating, but Adrien had some crazy fan, especially concerning the fan mail.
"You can go without me." he said. "I'll be okay. I think Mr. Gorilla is around here somewhere. I can just call him to pick me up."

"No. Adrien, it's time to stop being afraid. Mr. Gorilla is coming with us, like I said. If fans have nothing better to do than follow a model trying to be a teenage boy, that's their problem."
It was starting to get her angry how timid Adrien was of, just, being a teenager. All because of a mob of teenage girls. Granted, raging hormones could be deadly on the right situation, but he had a body guard and a lawyer next to him. He was in good hands. Besides, the business was thriving already, but you never knew when local businesses could have a dry spell. Fans in this situation would be able to help.

"Listen, Miss Crispin, I really appreciate it, but I don't think today is good." he said. "Mr. Gorilla's already going to be mad enough."
She was determined to get him in that cafe, wasn't she? Heck, Adrien didn't even know Sunshine's schedule. He was a 'know-it-all' thief but even he didn't want to cross that line of stalking. There was a chance she wouldn't even be in the cafe. He knew better than to tempt fate. He had nothing but rotten luck since he donned the Chat Noir motif. He wasn't sure how else he could politely decline her invitation out for coffee. He didn't want to seem ungrateful for her help, or for her offer to make cookies with him.

This was why he didn't have any friend who weren't in the one percent. He was too afraid to go anywhere near them. Her face became grim. She wasn't sad, nor was she angry. Rather...
"I'm disappointed in you, Adrien."
She turned, strutting down the path. He'd heels were clacking and ice was beginning to spread. If anyone slipped behind her, at this point she didn't care. He was being a coward. The last thing she needed to do was say it to his face. Next time the paparazzi attacked, she wouldn't bother. ((End thread))
