That put Namine at ease, knowing that she had finally fallen in with a 'good crowd'. Or possibly one of the best crowds that she could fall in with. Aqua had been good to her throughout this whole ordeal. She had even gone on a cooking spree to prepare food for her and guests while the faery was away and had taken time off work to sit with her and try to help Namine's anxiety.
"A-Are there lots of other trolls?"
Namine giggled. She imagined that with Omar's resume he could very well try for an astronaut program. Omar would probably have a lot of fun with zero gravity. Bounding around like a little kid and floating. He had quite the resume and job experiences. She was just an artist. It was all she knew how to be good at. She hadn't experimented with anything else because this was how she thought she could could make the most difference.
"W-What's it like to travel so much?" Namine asked. "I-I've never... left this city. I-I've never... met anyone with powers like mine either."

"Not really? Tribes and communities, never very big, all over the world but I'd say....maybe 2,000? 4,000 if I'm being generous" And with that low of a number you'd think he'd have met his actual parents by now. Or siblings if he had any. But no, he'd never met anyone who knew who he was or had had a child stolen and replaced with a human baby.
"It's interesting. Takes some getting used to, the vastly different languages and foods and cultures, but it's fun too. There's all sorts of people and adventures just waiting to be met" He paused. "I was thinking about taking Jane to Scandinavia, see if we could find Snapper. Since you're gonna be my daughter too, you could always come" He tilted his head. "I could always ask some people I know if they ever met someone with your powers, if ya want"

"So few..." Namine murmured.
Maybe the world would have been a better place if there were more trolls, or just more people in general who had Omar's morals and standards. But traveling to find them, that sounded so amazing. Meeting different people, going different places, learning and talking. It wouldn't surprise her if Omar knew several languages and multiple cultures.
"Bu-But wouldn't he... get mad? I'm just human." Namine said softly.
The last thing she wanted to do was to cause even more of a rift between the family. Snapper might just open up to Jane and Omar if it were just them, but she wasn't blood family. He already had gone through a rough patch with his father. Namine certainly didn't want to make it worse and she didn't want to see anyone fight either.

"We don't get together and have kids a lot. And some of the old trolls prefer going to sleep and becoming large hills, which is the closest we come to death. It makes sense there aren't a lot. Humans have no use for the old ways anymore" Was he sad about that? well, kinda yea. It gave him hope when he lived in cities like Bellerouge that were so accommodating to species like him.
"If he gets mad I'll just remind him he adopted a human baby once. He has no room to talk. Besides, you'll be his sister by law. He should meet family" Omar said with more reassurance than he felt. Snapper had an attitude and was a master of hiding. He might not even show himself to his own half sister. "We'll see how it goes"

"Th-That's too bad." Namine said.
She would hate to see a whole species just disappear, but in this day and age, things that were magical typically didn't garner the same respect as things like science. She smiled a little sadly. But to just give up and go to sleep? Becoming the hills? Namine never heard of that before, but there were many thing she didn't know about trolls. She was glad that Omar hadn't decided to become a hill or something.
"H-He did?" she asked in surprise. Granted, she didn't know this troll from anyone on the street. She was just afraid he wouldn't like her. "I-If you're sure..."

He shrugged. "It happens. There's not as many elves or merefolk around because of humans not respecting as much. Not a lot of people respect old magic anymore" It was a pity. He worried about the fate of the Court Fae and the Trolls and other magical species even a hundred years from now. People were beginning to not respect magic anymore and the old ways were dying off, killing those who existed because people believed in them.
"It was a baby abandoned in the woods. Probably an offering to the old gods. Even three centuries ago there were small pockets of humans who believed in them. He raised the baby with my and his mother's help and taught it blacksmithing. The baby became a famous blacksmith and made weapons. I was proud of my wild grandson. But like all humans he died. I still check up on his family line though, as does Snapper" Omar smiled. "Sure I'm sure. He'll be sure to like ya" hopefully.

"I-Isn't there something we could do?" Namine asked.
She didn't want trolls, elves or merfolk disappearing. Some of the nicest people she knew were Others. It would be such a shame if they vanished. It wouldn't happen overnight, but she also didn't want Omar to just turn into a hill either. Or Jane. They were very important to her and she wanted them to be as happy as they could for as long as they could.
"T-That's so sad." Namine breathed.
The baby hadn't done anything to deserve being abandoned for. Even if it was a sacrifice. It was as if the parents hadn't cared as all what would become of an innocent child alone in the woods. It had been fortunate that Snapper had come across it when he had. If he hadn't, Namine shuddered to think of what would have become of him.
"A-Are you okay with me being... human?" she asked.

"I don't know Namine" He said honestly. "Some give up, many don't have children and die, it's partly our fault and partly humans. The age of magic will end, every age does. I'm fine with that" He shrugged. "It is what it is. The baby was happier with us than it would have been alone. He reached fame and love and that's good, so there's that"
Omar walked over to Namine, kneeled down, and hugged her. "I'm fine with your humanity. I know you're not going to have my lifespan but I still love you like you were my own girl. I will support you for your whole life"

"I suppose..." she murmured.
She didn't exactly like it. Magic was something special, something unique. To have it fade overtime like something that was old news was sad. And it was good to know that the trolls took in the boy. Because he obviously hadn't had a chance with humans. She hoped it would only spell the same for her with the troll family. Namine swallowed thickly when he hugged her. So he knew but understood that despite how she would live her life, she would pass.
"Thank you," she whispered.

He shrugged. There wasn't anything to be done and unless there was an unexpected resurgence in magic he doubted there would be anything to bring it back. He smiled at her gently. "No need to thank me. You're my girl. That isn't gonna change just because your time is so short" he kissed her forehead and then went back to the kitchen to check on the coffee.

Namine almost started to cry again, this time because she was happy. But she was so emotionally drained from everything that happened, she felt like a little top that had been thrown around. For now, she could just enjoy the moment. She finished the last of her cake and leaned back against the couch. Funny how just a little thing could give her so much hope, how Omar's offer just made her feel like things could be right again.
"Thank you," she whispered despite him telling her not to.

Omar got himself a cup of coffee and walked back to Namine. She looked absolutely exhausted. He couldn't blame her. She probably hadn't been sleeping very well for a while. Not since that prick Vanitas had taken her. "Hey honey. I'll keep an eye on the house till Jane gets back. Why don't you go get some sleep for now?"

"I think... you're right." Namine said softly.
She debated getting up and going to her bedroom but the couch was just as comfortable. She grabbed the blanket off the back of the couch and curled up. Her head rested on the pillow. Sitting there, knowing she was safe for sure, she actually did start to feel her fatigue. But she was happy. Happy knowing that things were finally going to change for the better.
"Goodnight."

He leaned over and stroked her head gently. "Goodnight Namine. Sweet dreams sweetie" he made sure the blanket was securely tucked in around her and sat in a nearby chair across from her. He sipped on his coffee as he kept watch.
