"No."
Sunshine's answer was predetermined. She was looking at both the troll and the cat burglar with the exact same expression. Chat meant well, but she wasn't the frightened girl who had been offset by vampires. She had been trained to go up against monsters that lurked in this city, be they human or Other. If Shadow was under an influence, she would make sure he came through. He had saved her life, and she owed him that much.
"No, we take the lab and the graveyard together. We'll have the strength in numbers there. That and we ave a rendezvous point once we discover the big points."

Chat spared a glance to Omar before he shrugged. He felt that in a way, he was sort of butting in on something personal to Sunshine, so he should probably follow orders. She could very well arrest him for just breathing at this point. Plus, he wanted to see that she was okay. She might say she was okay to do this, but talk only went so far. Who knew what sort of mess had been dredge up along with all of Shadow's old memories.
"Okay, you're the boss." he said.

Omar regarded Sunshine quietly and nodded. "Whatever you want to do. You know Shadow best. We'll just back you up" He didn't know masked kitty boy like at all but he knew that if he was helping Sunshine he was a good guy. Omar leaned against the counter and regarded both of them. "Any ideas what to do when we finally find Shadow? I'm not interested in hurting my friend and neither are you two, so how do we end this in a non-violent approach?"

A shudder ran down Sunshine's back. The question wasn't if they wanted to hurt him, but rather the opposite. That opposite being if Shadow wanted to hurt them. She had seen the look on his face before he had vanished. It was covered by anger, but she knew he felt...remorse, in a way, seeing him almost break out his full power. She had never seen him
"Something tells me three of us isn't going to cut it," she said. "You guys have ears throughout the city, maybe spreading by word of mouth will get more people invested. We don't need an army, but we do need help."
A troll, a gifted human, and a cat burglar versus a pissed homonculus...and whatever crazy force was driving him.
"As for what we can do, reasoning is always part one. He's not so far gone we can't talk to him."

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Chat asked. "You go at him with a large group and he might feel too crowded or that you don't trust him."
Chat wasn't exactly one for group 'operations'. Too many things went wrong. Like with the Sapien bust where the entire building got torched, two officers were turned human and Sunshine's hair was cut. Or if they went after Shadow, someone (even if they had the best intentions in mind) would say something wrong or do something wrong that would set off Shadow. It was why he did all of this thefts alone. Too many cooks in the kitchen could spoil a meal. It wasn't that he didn't trust the others to do their job, but it left too many things to chance.
"Sunshine, your trust means the world to him."

Omar folded his arms and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. He could see both sides of the argument and both had valid points. But both had flaws too, which Chat pointed out some of them. "What if we compromise. Two or three more of his friends. It minimizes the chances of a wrong word being spoken, and keeps him from getting ticked because there's a crowd. He can't do anything if it's all people he cares about, right?"

Sunshine, for the briefest of moments, was stunned to silence. She just stared at Chat with her eyes and face unreadable. What did he know about Shadow and trust? Her partner hardly ever broke his walls down unless someone...that was it. By doing everything for the city, Chat had won Shadow's trust, leading to...well...whatever had happened that wasn't being said. Some other part made her feel absolutely guilty. If her trust meant so much to Shadow, how come he didn't come for her if the demon or ghost or whatever heard wind she was assigned with Riku as a partner? Would Shadow be angry? Impressed? A bit of both? Whatever it would come to, that trust bond was severed the day she and Riku were put together.
She ducked her eyes down, lacing her fingers together, and quietly asking,
"How do you that?"

She wanted to know how he knew that... Chat paled a bit under the mask. That was simple. Shadow cared deeply for Sunshine, all but professed it really. But because of what he was, he was afraid they would never end up working things out romantically. But that wasn't his secret to tell. He respected Shadow enough not to go blabbing about things like that. So he couldn't directly answer her question. Half truths and partial lies were becoming easier. Dodging the truth was becoming second nature.
"Whatever happened to Shadow, he just doesn't want to see you get hurt." Chat said. "I... know a thing or two about trying to protect somebody... Maybe this is something he has to do on his own, but that doesn't mean you can't be there to back him up."
Chat ran away from Yang the moment Cinder tried to squeeze Yang for information. Now that Shadow's memories were back, his disappeared without a trace, perhaps trying to put some distance between Sunshine and the person he used to be with those memories. Chat didn't know what Shadow remembered. Ironic that Chat was the one giving this advice when he was too cowardly to face Yang. He had all but had a heart attack when she caught him - as his civilian self - outside her old theater.

"Look, I know what it's like to try and fail to protect someone. Two someo-a lot of someones. But that doesn't stop me trying. He's trying to protect you and whoever else from being hurt" There was something Omar's companions weren't saying. Sunshine looked guilty and Chat looked uneasy .Omar was just trying to interject between them to stop a fight based on misconceptions. "We have to get to Shadow before Shadow does anything else. He's not above seeing reason" Hopefully.

"...That's a first. It takes him at least a week to warm up to someone. With Yang, it took a few days."
Sunshine was deciding to make light of Chat's knowledge of how Shadow felt. Whatever Chat had done, it had worked on her prickliers partner. Somehow, there had been a trust bond created. She also understood how his guilt would come back to haunt him. His noble intentions would be warped by the media, and maybe even the very people he wanted to protect in the first place, and as a result someone got hurt.
And with her, it had taken that same amount of time too. She wasn't ready to tell anyone about how she and Shadow met, especially not when the person who could support her story had disappeared.
"If he's staying out of the way to keep people from being hurt," Sunshine nodded to Omar, taking up his point next, "it shows that he's not possessed by a demon. That's what I was afraid of. That and, when..." she sighed, remembering the expression he had given her before the flash of light as he teleported away blinded her, "...when he saw me when I came in during the blow up, he looked...ashamed."

Chat still avoided eye contact with Sunshine, almost like a guilty little 'kitten'. He wasn't going to say how he knew what he did. It was Shadow's secret to tell, even if it would make things so much easier just to say 'Shadow loves you. That's why he's hit dodge.' But that conversation would go over as well as the blunt execution of such a statement. Just like this whole conversation. Sunshine had all these grand plans to bring back the grumpy old officer. All of which were endearing but Chat was just trying to think of strategies so that this was a successful 'search and rescue'.
"When we find him you can ask him about it yourself." Chat determined.
That was probably the best way to go about it, but it would force Shadow's hand at a possible confession or a half hearted lie.

"If he's ashamed there's still hope" Omar nodded. "I've seen possessions and this doesn't sound like one. More like he's being manipulated. Shadow is very vulnerable with his memories gone, like it or not. He'd be more likely to believe a lie because he can't tell the difference. It spells trouble but it can't be anything we can't handle. I'm sure if we talk to him he'll snap out of it" Omar said more confidently than he felt. This was all mixed up and bad, and he personally didn't have a lot of hope. But Sunshine needed faith right now and he was sort of taking her on as one of his right now. If Shadow wasn't there to keep her safe, Omar would take her under his wing.

"...That's just not like him..."
Sunshine was disbelieved, but she also knew Omar was right. Shado being manipulated was their only clue. It also explained the dark presence Pitch had warned her about getting into. She leaned against a baker's table, the flour puffing into a white cloud and smudging her elbows. She massaged her temples, thinking that there had be something, anything, that would get Shadow to show himself. Putting herself in danger was something she was very good at doing, and it was looking like the only option. True, Chat and Omar were willing to back her up, but she needed one more person she had to talk to.
"Okay, let's get just one more person to help us. Then we'll get him to talk."

"Who else should we involve?" Chat asked.
Chat didn't know too many of Shadow's friends. Sunshine was the one he spoke about the most unless Sunshine knew what definitively happened to Maria - the girl of Shadow's memories. Still, Chat was just 'back up' on this. Sunshine knew Shadow the best, whether she realized it or not. Shadow trusted her with every ounce of his being. Still, this was not a situation he would wish upon his worst of enemies. Least of all Sunshine and Shadow.

"Not anyone on the force..." she mused out loud. Putting a cop that was involved would make this far trucker than it needed to be. She needed someone who knew the streets, and Shadow, as well as she did. Two streetwise folks were on her side, which was good. But just as she was about to answer, John walked by with his arms loaded with flour.
"Sunshine, you're wanted to whip up the baguettes." He made no comment to her allies in the room with her; she was stressed enough.
"Okay, Dad," Sunshine sighed mellowlt. But before she could measure out the flour, she grabbed a completed order sheet andcscrubbled her cell phone number. "Keep these. I'll call you when we're ready to take the cemetery."
