"I don't know. The doctors aren't sure whether my phoenix side kicked into save me or if it was just dumb luck," Yang said, eyes cast downward. She wasn't sure what to think about it. She didn't really consider herself lucky at this point. For once, she had thought things were going her way, that maybe she would turn out okay. But then this had happened, because she was stupid. And Shadow was apologizing for it. "No, just...just stop, okay? I don't want anyone else to feel sorry for me or pity me or anything. I've already caused people enough trouble. I don't need them feeling bad about me too." The words came tumbling out, rushed and a bit emotional. This was exactly why Yang thought it was best to stay out of people's business from now on. They wasted all this time worrying about her when they should be worrying about themselves. Shadow had his own mess to figure out, yet here he was, feeling sorry for what had happened to her. That wasn't important. She wasn't important, not right now.

"I...I'm not pitying you. I know you can take care of yourself. I've been proud of you doing that ever since I met you." Shadow was pretty much just spitting out word vomit at this point. The conversation seemed to be quiet agreements. There was a common ground of a pity party, and at this point, there would be so much doom and gloom, none of them could get out. He kept digging into the 'what would Sunshine say' folder, and in the end, he was saying advice he wished himself could take.
"Listen. There's a fine line between causing trouble and having trouble find you. Thrax, that was an example of that. Cinder catching you, same thing. You've avoided trouble time and time again. True, you didn't get out alone, but that's because the people who helped you, they did it because they care about you. So don't think you're not worth anyone's time, because you are."

Yang let out a sigh. It seemed like the conversation was going in circles. She and Shadow thought they caused were nothing but trouble and just made things worse for the people around them. Yet, the other thought that was completely untrue. Shadow seemed so convinced that Yang wasn't bad luck. Why couldn't he see that he was the same? Just because he was the son of the devil or whatever didn't mean that he was responsible for all the bad stuff that was happening. At this rate, she and Shadow would be playing the Blame Game for minutes on end. They both felt like the things that had been happening lately were their fault. "Does anyone else know about this whole...son of the devil thing?" she asked, deciding to ask a question that had been on her mind earlier. Yang didn't think it was terribly bad, but others might. And if the wrong people found out, it could mean more bad things might happen to Shadow.

At least the cycle of pity was coming to a stop; kind of. Shadow looked at the stitches on the blanket, averting Yang's look. He had not meant to say the truth of who he really was out loud. He would have taken other truths, an android, a weird hybrid, an experiment gone wrong...nothing had prepared him for "created from the devil's blood".
"The sad part is...the people who know are the people I left to try and protect. Not counting Pitch. Omar, Elsa, Chat, Anna...Sunshine...now you. All of them know."
He looked at her bandaged arm. She had lost it for Louie, and he didn't want to think what's lose defending him.

Yang blinked. Chat knew? She wondered why he hadn't said anything. Of course, she realized a second later that he couldn't have. There had been too much going on. She was still in coming to terms with her arm being gone. And she had been so mad at him when she had first learned who he really was. Finding out that, plus Shadow being the son of the devil, it would have been too much. Adrien probably wouldn't have wanted her to go through all that. "So...now that you have your memories back, what are you going to do?" she asked. Was the Devil going to come after Shadow again? Was Shadow going to keep working for the police? He might not have a plan of action at all, if he was feeling bad because of all this.

THta was a question Shadow didn't even think about answering. He had been so fixated on recovering his memories. They had been...resotred, some what, but pieces were still missing. He knew why Maria and him were close, that he had been created using a dark magic because the professor and devil literally made a deal, and well, why his memories got wiped in the first place. The pieces missing were...well...what did Disparion want with Shadow. And what exactly did he promise Maria?
"...for the first time, I'm not sure," he answered. "I should focus on Thrax, but the squad's doing fine without me."

"I don't know. Knowing Thrax, he probably won't be found until he wants to be found," Yang said. After all, nobody had been able to find any trace of him after the ball. Apparently, they had only picked up on his trail whenever he showed himself to that girl Adeline. If he operated like that, then he probably wouldn't be found again until he made another public appearance. Still, Shadow seemed to think that the force would be just fine without him. Surely there had to be at least one person that would want him back. He couldn't have pissed off everybody, right?

"You think that breakout was a smoke screen? To distract us while he got away? It seemed pretty public to me." It was against protocol to talk to outsiders about missions. But right now. Shadow's mind was in a devil may care attitude. He trusted Yang, and technically he had broken protocol when he and her first met; yet the commissioner hadn't penalized him, which was odd.

"I don't know. Nobody seems to know what he's really thinking," Yang said. "At least, that's what the media says. I haven't talked to any other...cop friends lately, to see what they think." Not many had visited since Yang had landed in the hospital, which was understandable. They had a lot of work to do. They couldn't spend every waking moment with her. Besides, Yang was in such a downer mindset lately, she wasn't in the mood for talking to her friends half the time. Her moods tended to range from okay to terrible these days. At best, she could have a normal conversation and keep her voice somewhat steady. At worst, she was crying and yelling at whoever was nearby. At the moment, her concern for Shadow was enough to distract her from usual routine of wallowing in self pity.

"Ironic that one your cop friends ends up here the same time as you." Shaduw's laugh has half-hearted. He was letting the walls down ever so slightly, and it felt...alien. Like being happy to see someone was a crime; a crime he'd be given the death penalty. Yet as he and Yang sat, looking at one another with respective injuries, he realized that, well, it was good that she was here. At least if there was a screw up, he could at least protect one person, or back them them up, or whatever. A coy smirk crossed his face. "Has Chat snuck in to see you?"

"Yeah, ironic," Yang agreed. Still, it was nice to see Shadow. He may have his issues or whatever, but he was still a nice guy. Yang just hoped she didn't become too much of a downer for him to handle. He could probably fix his problems somehow. She, on the other hand, didn't have much confidence in her problems getting solved. She felt like she had been broken into pieces. Who would want to take the time to put her back together? At the mention of Chat, however, Yang's head snapped up and her face turned red. Adrien's last visit had led to some intimate moments, after she was done yelling and punching him. She could still remember how warm his hand had felt, and how soft his voice was as he hummed to help her sleep. "Um...once. It was...nice, I guess," she said, stumbling over her words.

Aha! The blush was coming in. Just because both Yang and Shadow wee broken didn't mean they could try to work up pieces back together. What better way to start than to focus on the good...oh, god, that was Sunshine's mindset rubbing off on him. His coy smrik widened a bit. "About time he said something to you. He and I had a heart to heart before...all this. He said the 'L' word, and I told him when he was ready to confess...I guess he did if you're sitting there turning into a tomato."

"Wait, the what?" Did Shadow imply what Yang thought he was implying? Did Adrien really love her, like she loved him? Personally, she thought the idea was impossible. Sure, he may have loved her once, but she was so different now. She was no longer the confident, fiery girl that she used to be. Her fire had been snuffed out, and she wasn't even whole anymore. A piece of her was gone. Could Adrien really love somebody like her? She knew he cared about her, that much was clear. And he knew she cared about him, even though she had reacted pretty badly to finding out who he really was. But love seemed so much more...permanent, in a way. It meant staying by somebody's side forever, and never leaving them. Yang wondered if Adrien could really stay beside a broken person like her forever.

"Well, he didn't say it directly to my face, but I heard him loud and clear. My memory's not that foggy." Her reaction was understandable. A tramatic incident would destroy anyone's confidence, let alone a confession someone felt so strongly for you. At her age, commitment was a scary thing, let alone everything she had gone through. Her chances of finding love her completely opposite of Shadow's. The one person that himself was in love with didn't even know. Every day, it pierced him in the heart thinking a creation like him would ever...well...re-connect after someone close had been taken away. The sadness in her violet eyes cut to him, and the coy smile faded. "Yang...whatever you want to do, I'll support you."

"That's just it, I...I don't know what to do." Yang gave a sigh. "I'm not sure what I should do about anything anymore." Shadow seemed to sense the hesitance in her, and he seemed to get it. But he didn't know that Yang had discovered who Chat really was. And it just made things more complicated. She remembered him talking about his dad, and how he probably wouldn't like her much. If they got together, how would he react? He'd probably just make things worse for Adrien. Yang didn't want to be responsible for that. Heck, knowing her luck, their relationship would probably go up in flames if they got together. She always found a way to mess things up. Odds were, she'd probably mess up any romance between them too.
