Pitch didn't try to argue his point and instead merely gave a slight shrug. Others might think it best for Yang to start moving forward so that she could heal, but the Demon knew it was far from that simple. Some people never seemed capable of moving past something horrible or devastating that had happened to them. They were always trapped by that moment, lost in some deep dark well with people at the top always telling them to pull themselves out of the dank, dark hole but never able to see there were no handholds for the person to grab on to.
However, he also could sense the kind of person Yang was, the soul she possessed. And true, the fire inside of her had nearly been smothered, but it wasn't dead.
"You truly believe your fire is gone, Yang?"

"I don't know. Maybe. Everyone seems to think that it'll come back eventually, but who knows? It's like..." Yang paused, finding it difficult to explain how she felt. It wasn't like she had given up 100%. She was trying to get better. But there was a desperation attached to it. She wanted to try what she could so she wouldn't feel so scared all the time. Being frightened of Thrax and Cinder and everyone else that had ever hurt her, it drained her and just made her want to hide. At least if she stayed at home all the time, she'd be safe. She let out a breath, trying to put her feelings into words. "It's like...when Cinder tried to kill me, and I was stuck in the river. I couldn't make a single flame, not even a spark. The water just drowned it out before it could even start." She paused again before continuing. "That's what it feels like. It's like there's water everywhere...and I'm stuck...and I can't get out..." She suddenly stopped, feeling like she had said too much. Her arms wrapped around herself as she tried to shake off the memories of that night. It may have happened ages ago, but it still scared her to pieces.

"It's not water you're drowning in, Yang. It's fear."
Pitch had delayed saying so but felt that the time had come. The fear coming off of her was visceral and potent, so much so that it was becoming difficult to remain focused on the woman. She had done her best to keep them under control, but now he could feel her defenses crumbling away as she thought over another horrific moment from her past, the time Cinder had nearly drown her.
Pitch closed his eyes and put a hand to the side of his head, trying to fight off the temptation that Yang's fears presented to him. He might have been a force for good as of now, but even he could still be tempted to the darker things he had left behind in his past.
(Hey Angel, would it be ok if Pitch tried to make Yang angry? Like he knows her fire is still there and tries to use her temper to help her start overcoming her fears and worries? It's actually a technique used to help some people start to heal.)

((I've got something in store later down the road that'll bring it back. In the meantime, she's got more angst to deal with. XD))
That was the blunt way of putting it. Then again, that was just how Pitch was. He tended to speak frankly. Fear was what Yang struggled with the most. Sure, her depression was still an issue, and her paranoia, but it all tied back to that. She was scared of all those things that had hurt her, and what might have happened if they had turned out worse. Not to mention, the future was so uncertain and bleak that Yang didn't like to think about it for too long. It seemed hard to plan anything when she wasn't sure what she might be like. She could be the same, or she could have made some progress in her recovery. It was completely up in the air. She glanced back at Pitch, who looked like he was getting a headache. She remembered that he could sense fear, and if she had a crap ton of things to worry about, it probably wasn't very good for him. "I'm sorry. I..." She paused, realizing that she was getting anxious over it, which would only make things worse. She had to get a grip on herself. She let out a slow breath as she tried to think of something else, anything else. Instantly, Adrien came to mind. He was usually the only person that could calm her down when she got bad. His voice would be really soft as he talked to her, his hand would be gentle around hers, he'd always assure her that he'd never leave her. Thinking about that made her feel slightly calmer. She just had to keep Adrien in her head and she wouldn't get too overwhelmed.

Pitch realized his tone was far from supportive when Yang began to speak, her own voice growing more anxious. Clearly he wasn't the best person to help her at that moment, not when her own fears seemed to saturate the very air around her and he was sorely tempted to feed upon it.
"There is no need to apologize, Yang. I do not think this is something I will be able to help you with, not in the way you truly need. For that, you will need to find someone you are willing and deeply trust to show the side of yourself you have never shown before."
He looked down at the young woman, her purple eyes so downcast and hurt, so overwhelmed by what had happened to her in such a short time. And yet he could sense that despite her claim the fire was gone, there was still a tiny spark smoldering away. If she could just let the right person help her, he knew it could fan itself into the flames that had once made her so strong and brave.
"You must let them see your weaknesses, your hurts and your tears. You must let them seem all of you."

"At least you understand," Yang said. Pitch had gotten a look at her fears first-hand. He knew better than anyone how smothering they could be. Heck, he probably knew that just from sensing people's fears in general. He could see them from a perspective nobody else could, and Yang felt like it was kind of useful here. But still, trusting someone so much that she could just let everything out, unburden everything she was feeling, the idea frightened her. Sure, she loved her friends, and she loved Adrien, but revealing everything about herself was something she was scared to do with any of them. Talking about her fears was difficult with her friends, and with Adrien, they usually kept the conversation light-hearted so she wouldn't think about all the things that were troubling her. Could any of them handle it if she decided to lay out everything that was going on inside her? The idea was frightening, and it might take time for her to feel comfortable enough to even consider it. She had to figure out how to even articulate what she was feeling. With Pitch, it was easier. He could sense what he was afraid of without her even saying much. With others, it would be different.

"Yes, but you would be surprised how many others would too if you just let them in."
Here he paused, looking as if he were debating on saying something else or not. However, before he could speak the distant sound of a whinny reached their ears and the Demon looked up to see one of his Nightmares approaching. It trotted towards them across the grass, leaving no hoof-prints as it passed. When it came to a stop in front of the two, it stared at Pitch.
Immediately he knew that the Nightmares had found something. It wasn't Thrax himself but it might very well help him locate his fellow demon. He nodded at the Nightmare before turning back towards Yang.
"Something has arisen. I will need to go."
He went over to the Nightmare and mounted the horse with a practice and ease few possessed. He pulled on the reins and the equine shape began to turn away. However, he turned on the Nightmare's back and spoke to the young half-Phoenix once more, finally speaking what had been on his mind.
"As for your fears, remember Yang, true bravery isn't an absence of fear. It's the ability to face them and not let them change who you are."

And there lay Yang's problem. Truly trusting other people was something she had always struggled with, even before she had lost her arm. While on the streets, she had wanted to do as much as she could on her own, so her friends wouldn't worry about her. She had been starting to make progress by asking her friends to help after Frollo tried to stick her in a cell, but losing her arm had set her back. She knew she needed help, anyone would after losing a limb. But she wanted to get more independent, and be able to take care of herself most of the time. She felt so indebted to everyone after they had helped her find good homes for her kids and a place to live. She didn't want to be a charity case forever. But she couldn't get better if her fears were holding her back, and who knew how long it would take to get used to them. After all, getting rid of them entirely was out of the question. You didn't just forget things like losing your arm, or a near-drowning experience. But if she could just learn how to live with them, she'd consider the battle won. And as a Nightmare strode over and Pitch mounted it, he pretty much said the same thing. Bravery was pushing on, even though you were scared. Yang just had to find a way to not let her fears overwhelm her so much. "Thanks," she said. "Good luck with...finding Thrax and stuff."

Pitch watched Yang for a moment from the height of the Nightmare. And although nothing outwardly seemed to have changed, he thought he could detect the smallest of differences in the fear she felt. It didn't seem so large anymore. He gave a simple nod of the head at Yang's words.
"Until next time, Yang."
With that said, he faced forward on the Nightmare's back and gave it the reins. Immediately the equine shadow took off, galloping across the park and into the city with the Terror Demon on its back.
