Red and blue eyes were locked at one another as Anna scooted over, needle in hand. Yang was the second person he was able to open to about his feelings behind Sunshine, leaving Anna to get the bronze. The guys would just, well, he never spoke to any males of the force. He'd have to fix that.
Anna's soft but firm voice radiated with him. He wanted to believe her words, really he did. She was one of the few people that didn't run and hide when it came out who he was. Heck, if anything, she was choosing to not care that he nearly blew up the department upstairs. But that still didn't change that he nearly wrecked Bellerouge off the map and into the bayou. Her smile cut into him, maybe more than the needle would.
"..Thanks."
It was hesitant, but true.

Anna let her gaze linger for a moment on Shadow and gave his arm a slight squeeze before letting her attention once more return to the act at hand. She picked up one of the alcohol swabs and quickly disinfected the homunculus' inner arm just below the elbow. She gave the liquid a moment to dry before positioning herself with the needle at the ready.
"Ready?"
She didn't wait for a verbal response but quickly inserted the needle into the flesh of Shadow's arm just under his fur. Her blue eyes watched the needle go in intently and couldn't help but be transfixed by the sight of the red liquid that collected into one of several tubes she had.
It took less then a minute to fill all the containers and pull the needle out, expertly stopping the flow of blood with a gauze pad before wrapping the medical tape around his arm.
"All done."

Shadow was silent through the rest of it. All the emotions inside were boiling down to nothing. He also, well, had nothing more to say. Not when he was about to get a part of him drained out.
The needle pierced his arm with just the slightest pinch. Part of him wondered if needles had been injected in him since his creation. The part of him being sewn together like some kind of weird experiment. The only parts of him that weren't organic flesh had been his jet skates. According to the professor's notes, the rockets were designed to be robotic so as to absorb the speeds of vampires, weres, and demons without damaging any delicate flesh. Even more impressive, the jets were solar powered, so no worries of running out of fuel.
Maybe a bit of the Seddon family was in him. Who knew.
A gauze was pressed against the small pierce, and Shadow nodded. The sooner Anna could check to see if he had been poisoned, the sooner he could get back out on the street and not running diagnostics.

Anna quickly collected the vials of blood and placed them in a container with ice in the bottom that she had on hand. Once the lid had snapped shut and she had placed a label over the top, she turned back to face Shadow.
"It will take me a day or two to analyze these samples but once I'm finished, I'll call you with the results. Until then, please try to take it as easy as possible. As good as it was to see you down here after so long, I'd rather we socialize while I'm not patching you or anyone else up."

"How about a cup at Nevermore when we aren't bottled up studying corpses? I..."
Shadow couldn't believe the very words that he was going to say. Of all the people in the department that he talked to outside of Sunshine, Anna had been one of the few he dared even to really call a friend. Yes, he still kept in contact with Ralph from the old days and the Colt brothers and him would hang out, but Anna...well...part of him regretted distancing himself.
He stood, touching where the needle got him. It was beginning to close up and not feel as tender. It'd be better in a few minutes. Though he did say the shocking thing before he shut the door.
"I missed this. Just...chatting." ((end thread))
