Too lazy to be bothered to make something for himself, stopping at the bakery seemed the best way to kill two birds with one stone. He would get something to eat and drink. He would also find someone to make miserable. All in all, he would be happy with both results. so he pushed his way into the shop, past some man who was holding the door open for his apparent girlfriend and took the last empty table for himself. He snapped at a waitress to bring him a menu. Yes, he would be very happy after this.

Jack hummed quietly to himself as he finished clearing the only empty table there was. It had been an easy enough job, just a quick wince down with the disinfectant spray and removed any crumbs that had stayed behind. There hadn't even been any dishes to gather up, which was always nice. Once he was done, he had moved away to take the bin of dishes he had gathered earlier to the kitchen to be washed. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw someone claim the table he had just walked away from and began snapping his fingers for service. Oh joy. he thought sarcastically, One of those customers.
He felt sorry for the poor waitress on duty. The girl was going to have her hands full with him, the white-haired teen was sure of it. With a sigh, jack continued on his journey, entering the kitchen to dispose of the dishes and get them all nice and clean. It was easy enough and Jack didn't mind it. Let his mind wander usually when he did such a task. And like all late day shifts, his thoughts went to Sophie.
Usually he brought her to the bakery with him, the management not minding having the three year old around. But the later shifts where often a bit too much for Sophie, who got tired and hungry and cranky. So whenever he was scheduled for a later day shift, he would get a sitter. His college age neighbor was a godsend like that. She often didn't mind watching her when he had to work. Unless it was midterms or finals week, then he'd get a death glare if he so much as thought to ask her.
But that was neither here nor there.
When the dishes were clean and put away, he went back out to the main area. Sure enough a new table opened up, not too far from the 'oh so friendly' customer, and Jack made his way over to it to clean up. Never giving the raven-haired customer a second glance.

Vanitas chuckled to himself as some poor waitress all but tripped over herself to get to his table. It was cute how she must have thought that feigning attentiveness would earn her more money. Had had seen the same waitress rushing about, trying her best to fulfill everyone's needs at the cafe. He snatched the menu away and made a show of shooing her away so he could peruse the menu. She looked offended by the motion, rightfully so but politely excused herself, disappearing into the back so she could probably vent to the cook about the newest customer, as if the baker cared.
Since the waitress fled, there was no one to 'entertain' Vanitas. His eyes fell to the busboy. He smirked behind his menu. Naturally, Vanitas made a point of knowing everything about everyone in town. The busboy was no different from any of his other 'marks'. Sad little sap who thought he could play house with a little girl that even the mother didn't want. If he wanted, Vanitas could make that father look so bad that children services would snatch that little girl up in a heartbeat. It wouldn't take much. Possession was so easy, but where was the fun in that? It was so much more delightful to watch these people destroy their own happiness.
"You missed a spot," Vanitas taunted to the poor busboy.

Jack began to zone out into his own little world as he cleaned the table, removing dishes and placing it into the bin he carried. Must have been a bigger group, as there had been a quite a few. Once all were in the bin though, he moved the bin aside and held up the spray bottle of cleaner, squirting a couple sprays across the table's surface. Hope Sophie's enjoying herself. he thought briefly, not for the first time when he was away on these shifts. She normally did have fun with their neighbor, who was good with Sophie. But he couldn't quite help but worry sometimes, no doubt it being the dad in him to always worry just a little bit.
Rag in hand, the white-haired teen began to scrub the table down, keeping mindful of any crumbs as he did so. There was a small little spill of tea near the edge of the table, and Jack rolled his eyes at the sight. You'd think people would be more careful when drinking their stuff. At least its not coffee. he thought as he wiped it up, scrubbing a little harder in ensure he got it all.
"You missed a spot."
Jack's head shot up, blue eyes blinking back into focus as he turned to look at the owner of the voice. It was the customer that had just came in, the one giving the waitress a bit of a hard time. As his words registered into his mind, a small frown formed on his face. "Thank you sir." he spoke, his voice polite as he held back a sigh. "I'll be sure to get it." Not like he was done with the table anyways.
And with that, he turned back around to continue scrubbing the table. Eyes watching carefully to make sure it was squeaky clean, if nothing more so that the customer wouldn't bug him.

Vanitas smirked. He rested his head on his hand with a smirk. So he was that kind of worker, huh? Eyes down, out of sight, out of mind sort? It was almost as laughable as the half demon who tried not to be a demon and the Troll who picked a bar fight with him a few days ago. No, this busboy wouldn't have the guts to start a physical altercation with the demon, not when his job remain in the balance, but that didn't mean Vanitas wouldn't give him a little scare.
"Be sure you do. It'd be a shame if you lost a job." Vanitas said, almost knowingly.
Already he was trying to figure out ways to coax this worker into doing something, saying something he regretted. Typically it wasn't too hard. Judging by the bags under the man's eyes and the way he held himself he was tired, probably from overworking. Vantias saw no point in working, not when he could make others give him what he wanted. Possessing this man would do nothing for him either, Vanitas realized because he had nothing of value or that Vanitas wanted.

Jack had hoped that would be the end of his interaction with the bothersome customer, was already putting the conversation in the back of his head as he went about cleaning the table. But apparently it wasn't. For not too long after, the man was talking again. Trying to egg him on it seemed, at least it felt like it with that knowing tone as he talked about Jack not wanting to loose a job. The white-haired teen felt himself tense a little at that, frowning down at the table as he paused in wiping. He's just being a prick. Be cool Jack. he thought before he willed his shoulders to relax.
"No sir." he mumbled out, finishing up the table before moving on to another one. What was with this guy anyways? Wanting to pick at a busboy like he wanted to see what made him tic. God i hope he's not some sadistic psyche major at the university. he thought briefly, shaking his head before wiping down the new table. This one wasn't as messy, which was always nice. He appreciated when people took care not to leave behind a mess.
A tired yawn escaped his lips, reminding him of his exhaustion. Man he couldn't wait to get off and return home. His bed would be a sweet piece of heaven, and he couldn't wait to lay down on it. Thank the Lord he had the day off tomorrow. Gonna sleep in as late as I can. Though when one had a toddler at home, seeping in wasn't much of an option. Especially his early bird.

"Pretty dull, aren't you?" Vanitas remarked.
A waitress came by after that, took Vanitas' order and he shooed her away after she jotted it down. Yellow eyes narrowed as he watched the bus boy. He was annoyed that all the response he got was a meek 'yes sir'. His fingers drummed against the tabletop, giving his annoyance sound for everyone to hear. He then sneered at the young waiter. It seemed that with each encounter with people in this city, Vanitas was less and less pleased about people. They were so frustrating. They never acted how he wanted them to.
"All work and no play makes you a dull boy."
