Yeah, you and me both, Omar.
As Ralph thought this, he couldn't help but look at Elsa. Things between them had greatly improved over time now that they were being open with each other, but he still wasn't certain what he his feelings for the young lawyer were. They were friends, yes, but he wasn't sure if there was any chance for them to try and be a couple again. Not after what had happened that first time.
It took the Giant a moment to realize he was staring and he quickly returned his gaze to Omar in the hopes that Elsa hadn't noticed. After all, it was Omar and his issues that they needed to focus on right now.
"Well, have you told her how you feel?"
Ralph realized quickly how bad that advice sounded. Still, it was the only thing he could come up with at that moment.

Elsa was well aware of the look Ralph had quickly shot in her direction. When her blue eyes locked onto his brown. There was something...thoughtful in his expressuion Beneath it, a sort of sense of confusion. He didn't have to be so quiet or hesitant about it. All he had to do was ask. But maybe asking was one of the hardest things he could do. She understood why, but it still tugged at her chest. She tucked a blonde hair behind her ear, having really nothing to add to the commentary both men were giving.

Omar sighed. "I've tried. She just took it as 'I like you as a friend' type discussion. And I invited her out to eat and again, she misunderstood and took it as friends.I played a romantic song for her in front of an entire bar for heaven's sake! She's so far in Denial I swear she's in another universe. So I guess I'll just remain her friend. Until she finally notices I'm right here. Not that someone as lowly as a troll could ever hope for a relationship with a faery. I've...liked fae before... I was just hoping she would take interest because she doesn't know I'm beneath her, having never been in the courts. He made a noise of annoyance and then sighed. "I'm sorry. I'm probably just bothering you two my whining..."

Ralph listened silently and patiently to Omar, but couldn't help noticing how his words seemed to perfectly reflect the Giant's own feelings towards Elsa. He'd tried doing certain things for her, small things in the hope that she would realize that his feelings for her were still there. And while he was certain she knew, they still hadn't gotten anywhere at all. Perhaps it was her own subtle way of trying to tell him that she just wanted to stay friends and nothing more.
As this thought passed through his mind, Ralph's massive shoulders sank visibly and he let out a sigh but when he spoke he merely addressed Omar's problems. No point in bringing his own issues to the mix.
"No, it's fine. Relationships are never easy but..... maybe you need someone to play third party? Like do you two have a mutual friend or something that could..... I don't know, talk to her?"
Here he rubbed his neck uncertainly. It was the only thing he could think of to help the Troll with his romance problems but even now it sounded rather lame.

Elsa could feel the pain in Omar's heart as he lamented. How Aqua was so naive to everything he had done for her, and was not open to the idea of being 'more than friends'. She felt her gaze looking at Ralph as he said it, and a huge stabbing sensation of guilt chilled her heart. Had she done similar things Aqua had? Overlooking the smallest signs of affection as 'just friends'? She saw him as more than just a Giant. She saw him as a person. A person, who, she had ironically warmed up to, and was starting to again.
Her face fell as his massive shoulders heaved. Maybe once they were done, she could...finally...ask him if he was available for an evening.
"...Yes. Usually a third party..." Elsa cut herself off, knowing she'd only repeat what Ralph said. 'Asked and answered', the common reprimand in court was. Clearing her throat, she rephrased the questions. "Do you know if she has anyone who could vouch for her? Knows her well enough to help?"

This time Omar noticed their reactions and guessed what he was saying vouched for both of them. And from their looks, about each other. He smiled slightly. "Yea, I think she does. I just need the courage to ask. But I'm still not sure if she'd get it ya know? She just seems so focused on being my friend that I don''t know if making a move like that would help anything. What do you guys suggest?" maybe if they gave him advice they could realize they could use it themselves. He didn't normally play matchmaker, but this seemed like it needed help getting moving.

Ralph suddenly realized that as Omar was speaking, his dark eyes were going between the Giant and Elsa while a smile started to spread across his mouth. He quickly became aware of what the Troll was probably smirking at and felt his own face start to heat up in response.
He couldn't seem to stop himself from once again glancing at Elsa but quickly forced his brown eyes straight forward again as he rocked on the balls of his feet and tried to straight out his suddenly confused and jumbled thoughts.
"Well, maybe you should..... uh, it probably wouldn't hurt to..... um, get some advice from her friends. Yeah, that might help..... yeah."

Elsa knew the shifty eyes weren't just out a nervous habit. Beneath his asking for advice, Omar was getting subtle hints of her and Ralph briefly exchanging quiet moments. Color was coming to Ralph's cheeks, and almost like an instinct, her face flared up a tiny bit.
He had just glanced at her, and she just stared at the French pedicure on her feet. At least Ralph was liking her idea.
"Though don't be too...abrupt about it. But I guess if it's been hinted at she hasn't seen the clues...then...I guess coming out and saying it will have to do..."

"Ralph, just come out and tell her already. She just said that would be the course of action" Omar said, dropping all pretenses and outright saying what he knew they were all thinking. "It's going to make you both happier if you just admitted you had the same feelings for each other. I'll even leave you two alone so you can talk. I got what I needed anyway so" he smirked and shrugged, prepared to leave.

Ralph blinked and stood completely nonplussed when Omar told him to just come out and tell Elsa how he felt. Ok, so maybe the Troll had picked up on the tension between the two of them but where had this come from all of a sudden? They were supposed to be helping him with is own troubles and not the other way around.
Yet somehow the Troll was telling them to fess up to each other and even taking a few steps away as if to give them privacy. Despite his confusion, the Giant couldn't help but look at Elsa and see that her own cheeks were brightly colored. He coughed into his hand and tried to act as calm and collected but it was a poor farce.
"Well I don't know what he's talking about.... so... I guess we should just..."

"Ralph."
Elsa was looking at Ralph now as Omar had scooted away. She got the hint, and she was taking the chance that was denied so many times. She had been stupid to ignore the signs. That Ralph still caed about her and, well, that she cared about him. She took a breath, and well, finally said it out loud.
"I still do care about you. I mean it. And if you aren't doing anything when we're done giving love advice, would you...care to continue walking with me? I know a great swirl place. It'll be my treat this time."

Omar could cheer for Elsa, he really could. Ralph needed more courage in these situations, which was funny because he was a detective. Omar gave them a thumbs up. "I think I'm good with advice, Elsa, Ralph. I'll go get my band and we'll practice for an upcoming gig .Thanks again for taking my cases, both of you. I really appreciate it" He turned and started walking away, whistlinr.

Ralph might have continued to stumble over his words, trying to make sense of the storming mess his feelings were suddenly becoming. He loved Elsa, there was no point pretending otherwise. And yet he was afraid to try and approach her in that light again after what had happened the first time.
It was hard to say what might have happened if Elsa hadn't suddenly broken across his mumblings and asked him out. Just like that, she had asked him out.
The Giant's jaw dropped for a moment as he stared at the young, beautiful lawyer. He was only partially aware when Omar made his farewells and walked away and if asked a simple question in that moment, he wouldn't have been able to answer.
Elsa had asked him out. His mind couldn't help but go back to that first time. In a strange ironic way, he had asked Elsa out in a very similar manner. They had been discussing something completely different, something job-related and he had just sprung the question on her, asking if she would like to join him for dinner and a movie. And she had said yes.
He continued to stare at Elsa for another moment of silence before suddenly closing his mouth, shaking his head and managing a single response to her question.
"Yes."

As Elsa had asked her question, Ralph had been mumbling, bright red as a tomato. She was about to ask him again, hoping maybe the shock value would die down and she could ask him again. Perhaps even clearer than she had before. Omar had left to go practice, which meant, it was just two two of them.
Ralph just gaped at her. Her heartbeat roared in her ears. It was almost deafewning to the other sounds. Well except for one sound.
That sound was Ralph saying yes. He said yes.
Elsa's face metled into three different emotions at once. The first was surprise, the second was anxiousness, and the third was joy. Ralph said yes. After just years of bickering and awkward statements, they had gotten back together...kind of. It would have to wait after the swirl was gotten before she could assume it was official. With her smile wide, she rushed to stand beside him, looking up at his gentle, rounded face. "Good," she said with a light laugh. "because it's a few blocks down the way." ((end thread))
