The band began to set up for the next song and Rhona wiggled eagerly on her father's shoulders. But as the band keyed up, Miss Jane's father began to speak to the crowd. The mood in the air began to shift, a sad note filling the atmosphere as the man spoke of a lost child. Rhona's smile faded away as she looked sadly on, not quite sure how to process the news. She lost her Mum, but she didn't really remember her very well.
Craig wasn't much better, remembering far better the loss of his dea mate, the mother of his child. The details of it all still stung deep within him, even after all this time. But even worse yet, the knowledge this man lost a child, caused a sliver of fear to run through him. What would he ever do if he lost Rhona? It was every parent's nightmare. And this man had lived it. The poor man. he thought as the music finally started.
Green eyes widened at the familiar cords as they began to play, sadness washing over the blonde Selkie even more as he realized what song the band began to play. Rhona recognized it as well, but instead of sorrow she grew a wide smile. "I love this song!" she exclaimed, blue eyes shining bright while green grew glossy with unshed tears. Her mother had loved this song too.
As the words began to ring out into the crowd, memories played in Craig's mind. Of better days and a loving romance that lasted all too brief because of tragedy. A beautiful woman of red hair and blue eyes who smiled like sunshine herself as she danced and sang along whenever this song played on the radio. How in his youth he serenaded her with this song as he convinced her to give him a shot. How they'd dance together when Rhona was just a mere bump in her mother's stomach and sang it to their little pup.
"Why are you crying Da?"
Craig snapped out of his memories and looked up to see his sweet little lass looking down at him with a worried look. He hadn't realized he was crying. "I'm just an emotional old seadog." he told her, giving a small smile even as the tears continued to run down his cheeks. "This song always does me in." With a chuckle that took a bit of effort, but was sincere nonetheless, he swung his daughter off his shoulders and placed her on her feet as she giggled from his actions. "May I have this dance milady."
Rhona laughed playfully at her father's words before nodding in agreement. "Ye may good Sir." she said, happily placing her hand in her father's and the other on his arm as they twirled in a tiny circle in the crowd. And they continued to dance until after the song came to an end, a bittersweet sigh leaving Craig's lips as the final note finished.

Omar sang with passion, noting with melancholy happiness the somber attitude of the crowd, a bunch of people beginning to sing along to Danny’s favorite song. The little blond girl and her dad were even dancing. It was adorable and Omar felt a pang of protectiveness towards the two. Every child was precious and this one seemed especially loved, and that made Omar happy. He finished the song and smiled at the crowd.
“Alright, two of my own songs next! To all you hardcore fans, Cloud Dancers is not on the list. At least not immediately” he winked and grinned widely to the smattering of cheering. “To all you all out there, this is some new stuff! First up is All The King’s Men, a duet co-sung and co-wrote by my bass guitarist, Kitty!” The fox-woman stepped forward, adjusted her glasses and gave a small wave to the crowd. Omar grinned. “C’mon Kitty, you can do better than that!” Kitty gave him a look.
“Don’ go gittin a big head now just cause we’re on a stage bigger’n a bar” she snapped and Omar laughed.
“Ain’t she a peach? Alright, onto the song!”
Kitty: “When all the Kings men And all their horses Can't find a way to A way to save you”
Omar: “I've been chasin windmills for as long as I have been Found my Dolcinea but I don't remember when Still I can be your hero when that love comes to an end Somehow you lost your wonder in your quest to feel alive”
Both: “Wake wake wake up child Wake wake wake up child Wake wake wake up
When all the Kings men And all their horses Can't find a way to A way to save you When all the day's end Remember me then It's not too late to Too late to save you…”

Kitty might have given Omar a hard time about being on a bigger stage, but Aqua was happy for him. He was really getting bigger and better with his music career. He also looked like he owned the stage. A true performer. She made a quiet note to herself to get a copy of his cds at the stand that Jane was running. His music was good. She could probably listen to it, but didn't want to 'steal' Namine's cds in order to not bother the young woman.
Omar looked happy. He was having the time of his life performing in front of such a large crowd. He all but drank in the attention they were giving him. Aqua couldn't help but feel like she too was a little happier. She supposed it was the crowd and not having to focus on her own troubles. That was what any good performer would want to hear - that they were able to cheer someone up and help them escape reality even if for only a little while.
Namine giggled. She was glad that he was performing somewhere like this. Bars made her too skittish (though she was always that way). Otherwise, she would have continued only listening to his music over cds. Which, while good, wasn't the same as a live performance. This was far more exciting. Namine danced along with the crowd and sang along with every word, though not very loudly.
Jane passed over the shirts that Shadow had asked for. He likely wouldn't be wearing one himself. Unfortunately, the shirt sizes fit most humans. When she looked at Shadow she saw his misty eyes. She offered her own sympathetic smile. Her father was good at drawing emotions. She decided not to tease the cop for it. She had been through the same thing. Moving on to the next song, it helped a little. She shook her head over her father.

Sunshine was smiling, and her smile was getting bigger and bigger. Kitty and Omar had some great chemistry, so it was no wonder they liked performing with one another. And apparently, she wasn't the only ones getting some smiles. Aqua and Namine, who weren't standing too far away, were smiling up at the troll musician rocking out. She cupped her hands over her mouth and whooped loudly as they sung. She finished the whoop when something hit her from a set of footsteps approaching.
"Surprise!" Shadow cheered, handing the b=]pale blue shirt he had bought for her. The bagged shirt he got from Jane was also delivered to her. "This one's for Riku."
Sunshine gaped at her partner. He didn't have a shirt for himself, but he did have a water bottle, which she wasn't shocked that he got something for himself. Instead, he had gotten the shirt for her and her boyfriend. She smiled wat hi. "Shadow, you're so sweet...you didn't have to."

Omar finished the song with a flourish and smiled as Kitty flounced back to her previous spot. Omar grinned at the crowd. "Ain't she just a peach?" he asked, and Kitty gave him a sour look. "Oh stuff it Omar" she said, and some of the crowd laughed. Omar became more somber and held the mic stand carefully in his hands. "Okay, I want to be real with you guys right now. I'm not just doing this for charity. I'm doing it for someone. This is the final song and I really hope to whatever that my message gets through to her, the one who makes me better, and want to be better with all my heart. I've only felt this way once in all my seven centuries. Aqua Malone, will you please just accept somebody like me has fallen head over heels for you?" shocked silence and then a cheer and a "preach it brother!" from the crowd. Omar smiled and nodded to the keyboardist. "Play it dude. Let's make all the lovesick fools out there a little less pining and a little more strong" the music started and Omar began crooning into the mic, his voice low and yearning.
"You came into the picture like a natural You were unexpected, got me spiritual I don't wanna say it, but maybe it was fate And I can not contain it
And I know, and I know it's a different love And I know, and I know that you make me better It's a love that will keep me holding on And I know, and I know we only get better
I came into your picture such a broken fool A million different pieces looking back at you Believe me when I say this, I was giving up But now you come and save me
And I know, and I know it's a different love And I know, and I know that you make me better It's a love that will keep me holding on And I know, and I know we only get better..."

Aqua felt a familiar wave of warmth as he dedicated a song to someone he liked. He had dedicated a song to her too. His favorite had been Electric Indigo because of her vivid blue hair. But this was different. He liked her! Omar’s confession left her blushing, wide eyed and weak kneed. She could feel herself shaking with the need to flee – to go somewhere to clear her head and think this through. If she ran, Omar would think that was an outright rejection. If she stood there gaping like an idiot, he would mistake it for indifference or worse horror at his confession. Only she didn’t know how she was supposed to react. How could she when she wasn’t even aware he had feelings for her? No. That was wrong. Aqua knew. She had just ignored all the signs. She wrote them off – wrote him off – all because she didn’t want to open herself up to more potential heartbreak. She already lost her family, her last lover and now her partner. Hope hurt. Love hurt. She had tried to make it so that she would no longer allow herself those sort of luxuries, not in a world of humans where the moment she reached her first century, every one she knew would be dead. So she ignored Omar’s now obvious attraction to her for as long as she could. She waved off his flirting as the rough and rowdy demeanor of the man, trying to get a rise out of her. His mannerisms were because he was trying to be polite to his daughter’s roommate or possibly because he was wary of her since he did say faeries treated trolls poorly. She made so many excuses for him to not like her; she didn’t know how he could. What about her feelings for him? She didn’t think she could say she loved him per say, but she could admit to liking him. As he sang, she thought of the sweet and thoughtful guy (after Terra’s funeral no less) who took her to dinner and cheered her up. The guy who dedicated songs to her because he was reminded of her. The troll who she had arrested but had nevertheless let her clean up his injuries from Vanitas even though he had every reason to hate her because she was a cop. She didn’t love him yet, but she could. Falling for Omar would be so easy - as easy as breathing. Allowing herself to love him was another matter entirely. - The new song surprised Namine. It wasn’t on Omar’s CDs. That meant it was a new song that had been written and dedicated to Aqua. Namine had to fight back a giggle. It was so romantic. She never really pegged Omar for the romantic type, but it made sense. The chivalry, a code of conduct even for the ‘bad ass’ heavy rocker that he liked to act like, the mild manners, the protective streak about a mile wide. He was like a Prince straight from the story books.
She looked to her roommate who was going all but blue in the face for lack of breathing. The shock had cut the faery to the core. Pink tinted her face and she looked a little embarrassed and perhaps guilty or confused. A myriad of emotions flicked across Aqua's face so quickly Namine almost hadn't been able to track them.
-
This wasn't like her father. He loved charities. For him to say he was dedicating a song to someone and then confess. Wait... Aqua? As in Namine's roommate Aqua? The faery? Her eyes went wide and she stared at the slack jawed woman. Apparently, she had no idea that Omar felt that way. Plenty of people who knew her were staring. This confession was a surprise to the audience. Though the couples in the crowd were moved by the song. Pleased by the romantic tone and pure emotion Omar sang with.
"You go dad," Jane laughed.
She was likely not to be heard over the crowd. But leave it to her old man to use one of the most romantic moves in the book. Once again she was impressed with him. He showed a certain amount of confidence with a public confession that honestly could have gone poorly if Aqua publicly rejected him. Jane would have words with the faery if she broke Omar's heart.
