Well, it was too late to ask any questions. Sunshine was long gone, mentally at least. Her mind was on whatever had happened at the lab, and it didn't seem good. Could they snap her out of it? Shadow, however, was more in favor of the gentler route. His reassurances were quiet, his hands gentle. Yang felt bad that she'd jumped on the train a little too soon when it came to asking what had happened. But it seemed pretty urgent that they find out. Sunshine never freaked out over nothing. However, somebody finally arrived that was a pro at getting through to her: Riku. He had brought even more gifts than Shadow. Okay, definitely need to actually bring something next time I see her, she thought. Although she wasn't sure if she'd be able to outdo the music box Riku had gotten her. It was gorgeous. She left them to do cute couple-y stuff, but once she caught sight of who else had entered the room, her eyes widened and gave a startled yelp. If Sunshine had looked bad, this guy was horrendous. Yang wasn't sure what unnerved her more: the milky white eye or the half-smirk that seemed permanent. However, Shadow seemed to know him, and instantly asked what had happened. It didn't take long for Yang to put two and two together. "Dorian, I presume?" she guessed.

Riku hugged Sunshine tightly, not wanting to let go for a little while but finally forcing himself to let go of her and assess the damage. Her face was cut up but not badly and her hands had bandages on them. He kissed her forehead. "I came here because I wanted to see for myself you were okay, an dthought you could use some chow. Plus, I brought your Christmas present early, I'm just glad my friend finished it the day you got hurt so I could bring it over" He smiled and stroked her face lovingly. He looked over at Dorian when Sunshine collapsed sobbing before turning back to her. "Sun, you didn't know what was going to happen. It's okay"
Dorian watched with his one good eye impassively. He barely noticed the one armed girl but when she asked his name he nodded. "You presume correctly" He wasn't good at comfort ,but he'd give it his best shot. He walked over gingerly to Sunshine and touched one shoulder. "Rachel Seddon" he said gravely, proud of himself for actually asking and remembering her real name. "There was no way you could have known. And even if you had, she would have gone feral anyway and attacked me. You coming in may have saved my life .I owe you a life debt" He turned to Shadow and pulled him to the side and leaned in close so only Shadow would hear. "Anna took the last vial of the serum you and Axel destroyed. She's gone insane with all that DNA inside her and attacked Sunshine and I. She threw tables, whole tables, with equipment, chemicals and all, at us. I grabbed Sunshine and dragged her out the door. I'd kept Anna occupied with music to keep her from continuing to slash at Sunshine with her nails. It worked, for a little while, and then she threw the tables at us, and we got out" He was babbling a little, unconsciously shaking enough to make the saline bag on the wheeled pole shake.

Sunshine continued to sob. There was no point on keeping the 'light side' up, not with what she kept seeing and hearing. She kept replaying Anna's attack over and over in her head. She sniffed, and the slimy sense and taste of mucus lined her mouth. Even just listening to Riku's early Christmas present didn't help her at all. Nor did the promise of her favorite sushi; however her appetite was returning, and she did take one small bite of the roll he had supplied. As she was chewing, just letting tears fall silently, she was surprised as Dorian approached her, calling her by her real name and comforting her in his...Unseelie way. As he and Shadow went aside, she looked up from her boyfriend kissing her forehead to her other friend. "Yang...how was your vacation?"
Wow. Who knew a Seelie was...actually grateful? Shadow was just as taken aback by the other man's comments. The questions continued to come aboard. nna going...feral? The only way...no. No, no no, he and Axel destroyed the serum she was working on. Reluctantly, but they did blow it up. His fears of there being backup where confirmed by Dorian, and he shook his head with a frustrated sigh. This was exactly what he and Axel were afraid of happening; the serum going horribly horribly wrong. It was what thr government had feared ten years ago if Professor Gerald's formula was twisted into modern medicine. The idea of it becoming a medicine for the fatally ill worked thanks to the restorative properties of the others, but at the price of what? Humans becoming Others themselves. A backwards Sapien. Now Anna was probably out in the world, attacking anyone she could find. "Thanks. For both telling me the truth and saving my partner's life."

Sunshine was starting to perk up, ever so slightly. Still, it hurt Yang to see her cry so much. And there wasn't much she could do either. Even Riku was struggling to calm her down and assure her that she was safe. If anything, Yang felt so bad for her because everything about this was relatable. A horrible attack that left you seeing enemies around every corner, unable to stop your emotions from spilling over, nothing being able to take away the fear and the pain, it was everything that Yang had been going through the last couple of months. Heck, she was still going through a lot of that. Sure, she was getting better, but that didn't mean she was cured. Just seeing Sunshine like this was enough to make some of her old fears creep back into her system. She glanced back at Dorian and Shadow, who were talking quietly with each other. Was Dorain explaining what had happened? Was it something Yang was allowed to hear? Maybe it was something only the cops should know for now. That irked her, but some officers were all about protocol these days. And there wasn't much she could do about that. It took her a moment to realize that Sunshine had asked her a question. "Huh? Oh, um...it was fine," she replied absentmindedly, before realizing that Sunshine probably wanted more details than that. "Uh, I mean, it was great. He has this beach house on this private island. The ocean wasn't too bad either. I think having a positive experience there is gonna help with this water problem I have." Yang felt like she was babbling by this point, but if she could distract Sunshine for a bit by talking about her romantic exploits, then that was fine by her.

By some kind of miracle, Sunshine felt something cut through her crippling fear and sadness. It was something she wasn't sure she could feel again unless her mom came in with a plate of fresh blondies. Something that cast aside all the darkness that being attacked from two different beings had given her. Yang and Adrien's attempts to be a couple were tricky, so to hear that their vacation actually had gone great, that Yang's fear of water was slowly diminishing thanks to Adrien's ever-present support...
That feeling was the slightest glimpse of joy.
"Think he can score us tickets to the private island?" she asked, half-jokingly, half-seriously.

Riku smiled as Sunshine began nibbling on the sushi and perked up a bit at the sound of Yang going on about her mini vacation. He was honsetly worried and torn up about Sunshine. She reminded him of his mother, a little. So bowed down by fear she hardly showed any of her goodness anymore. He was terrified that would happen to Sunshine and he'd lose her. He hugged her close again. "We'll go to Paris if you want" he murmured. "I'll have to save for a month or two, but we'll go for a few days. They have the best wines" He figured that would be almost as good as a private island.
Dorian looked at Shadow through his one good eye. "It's not a fae's nature to lie. Maybe tell half-truths, but never lie. Also, I...gave her encouragement and my blood" he explained, though it pained him. "I'm as much responsible for that vial as she is. I want her home safely. Besides, your partner is responsible for saving my life as much as I'm responsible for saving hers. If she hadn't come in, I would have been alone with Anna when she had her breakdown....I might not have been able to get to the violin that drove Anna away from us without Sunshine diverting her attention. And there's too much iron there for me to use much else as a power" he felt a twinge of regret saying that but it was the truth. He could very well be dead now if Sunshine hadn't been there. "So she and I owe each other life debts. I'm eternally grateful to her family for existing and thus her existing"

"She took my blood by tricking me," Shadow sighed. Awkward comfort was awkward, but it was the best he could say. Anna had been blinded by ambition to know the truth of what was going on. Yes, her intent was noble, but the extremes were too beyond her control. Shadow had seen, and well, was living proof of the powers she was trying to bottle and sell for medicine. "In the end, almost all of us had a part in what happened. I want to help find her, believe me Dorian, but I already did enough. I destroyed her work, and if she still has that anger towards me..." he looked at Sunshine, and at Dorian. Both of them mde it out with scratches and one blind eye. The rage Anna held for Shadow, especially in an untamed feral stage, he didn't want to think of the injuries both of them would endure.
The chamomile-vanilla tea smell of Riku invaded Sunshine's senses. If Yang describing the vacation was pushing away those dark clouds slowly, then that smell made one ray of sunlight pierce through the dark void. She could have melted into his arms if she wanted to just sat and listened to the pleasantries of her friends' romances. Sunshine looked up at him as he murmured saving up to go to Paris. "Paris? I'd say that's cliched, but...I'd be lying if at times I said I had wanted to go."

"Oh yeah, Paris is, like, the love capital of the world," Yang added. "That'll be fun." Honestly though, if Sunshine asked, Adrien would probably loan his beach house in a heartbeat. He had a generous heart and he liked giving help to those who needed it. Heck, after hearing that Sunshine had been hurt, he'd probably be beside himself and give her anything she needed. Adrien cared about his friends, sometimes even more than himself. Then again, Yang had that in common with him. Even when she had been living on the streets, her kids and friends had come before herself, which usually led to her not talking about things that were bothering her. It was a habit that was hard to break. She glanced back at Dorian and Shadow, who were still talking. Frankly, she was surprised that Dorian could be up and running by this point. Well, maybe not that, but still. He was walking, at least. And seemed to be speaking pretty coherently. Maybe he was used to stuff like this? Who knew?

Sunshine blushed fiercely at the word 'love'. It was a bit early in the relationship to say she and Riku 'loved' another. The most he...her eyes fell on the music box, which had stopped playing. Then at the bag of sushi, the first thing he got her since they were partners at Shadow and Aqua's disappearance and she accidentally turned him into a rabbit by having her magic trigger a demon's curse. He hadn't told her the magic three words every girl wanted to hear, but he showed it. Shadow had said the three words, but she was pretty sure he meant them as more than a friend, a very very close friend. "If Adrien isn't too busy with his business, you two could tag along," she teased.

Riku went strawberry red at the 'love' word. He hadn't had the courage to actually say it, yet. It was still too early in the relationship anyway. Maybe after like six months or a year or something. He didn't want to rush and ruin things. "It's also where my aunt who left me her share of mother's inheritance from grandmother and grandfather's passing lived in a riverside home. I figured...we could stay there and have a few days to ourselves, and walk the boulevards and waterways whenever we wanted" he told both Yang and Sunshine. "So I've been meaning to go and evaluate the house anyway....it would just turn into a much needed vacation. For both of us"
Dorian bit his lip and lowered his one good eye. "...I'm...not good at apologizing. But I suppose she was looking at notes from an old doctor, and they were 'Project Shadow' on them, from the glimpse I got. So I'm guessing you're the result of her serum done right. I wasn't thinking, I should have warned..." hindsight is twenty twenty as the saying went after all. He turned from Shadow and walked to Sunshine. "Rachel. I owe you a life debt. By Unseelie and Seelie practice, this means I give you a gift equal of the debt. I've decided to give you some of my own powers. Your children will bear the mark of my favor, and I'll keep an eye on your bloodline. It's what's done. You have your pick; absorption of the power of the moon, including causing delirium and illusions when you activate your hair at night after absorbing light from the moon, or powers over people and emotions by voice or touch" he paused and touched just under his blind eye. "I might be dead instead of partially blind if it weren't for you. So we owe each other our lives. This is my way of thanking you"

Shadow was very...taken aback by Dorian's apology. He had never really talked with the Unseelie man before the accident. However, the quiet remorse and guilt...well, according to the academy's "summary of supernatural", beauty was a big deal to both of the courts. Perhaps blinding one eye had given Dorian a sense of humility. The homunculus gave an understanding nod. He himself had been bad at apologies; pride was saltier than a crawdad boil. His silent acknowledgment was the acceptance of Dorian's apology. He followed them back to the bed, where Sunshine and Riku's faces had turned red about...something. Probably a joke about their relationship.
Staying in Paris just a few days...with summer vacations dying down, Sunshine was already daydreaming. This time, though, the day dreams weren't the dark scary images brought on by trauma. She was already picturing being in the house in the French riverside, looking up at the purple sky. Purple, not red like down here. Then to spend it with someone who, very much like Adrien, was choosing to put his money to making people he cared about happy. She was finishing the daydream when Dorian approached them.
His offer had her staring owlishly at him. Her family had been no stranger to the Faery Court rules. Heck, because of a distant ancestor, she held the powers of the sun. But unlike the great great great great great great...whoever, she was given two choices. A faery godfather to boot, too. She looked down at her hair. The truth was, she didn't want any of those things on the table. Having sunlight-based powers was enough. The choices ranged from having not just sunlight absorption, but moonlight. It would be incredibly useful for night watches; maybe like Yang, she could overcome her fear of vampires thanks to it. "Wow...um...I...don't know what to say..."
"Sunshine...this means you've got both Faery courts on your side," Shadow pointed out. "The Seelie from your mom's family...and now Dorian's gift...this makes you...incredibly lucky."
Sunshine looked at her bandaged hands once again. The dark side of Bellerouge needed to be sent back. "From your choices, even though I already have the moon in a way," she cheekily looked at Riku with that, "I'm going to accept the moonlight offer. If I'm going to have to take night shifts, I need to stop being scared of going out at night. And when Jasmine, or Mother Gothel, whoever that is, does try anything, I'll be ready."

Yang didn't miss the way Sunshine and Riku looked when the word "love" was mentioned. It looked like their relationship was still in the early process. Yang wasn't sure what the big deal was. She and Adrien had spouted the "I love yous" from the get-go. Maybe that was because they'd been feeling love for each other for so long beforehand, so admitting it out loud wasn't too difficult. Personally, Yang felt like she could say it all the time, mostly because of how much Adrien smiled whenever she did. Regardless, Sunshine seemed to be perking up the more Riku and Yang talked about Paris, so that was good. Maybe that was all she needed to handle the bad stuff: just some romantic things to think about. Yang often did that whenever she was feeling insecure or scared. Adrien would pop into her head and she'd feel a little better. Dorian came over at that point though, and when he explained how he wanted to repay Sunshine, Yang's eyes widened in surprise. "Damn," she muttered. Both choices seemed pretty monumental, but Sunshine was able to make a decision pretty quickly. If this new gift could help her get over this, then Yang was all for it. Although she wondered when Dorian would actually give it. Bestowing magic powers on someone when he was in such bad shape seemed like a bad idea.

Apparently Dorian's offer surprised other people as well. Yang's reaction wrote itself. The choices...well Shadow was contemplating pros and cons. The moon one would give Sunshine confidence to actually go out at night, but how would it do for her mentally? The willing people by voice; a simple spell, but he was sure one way to get people to hate you would be making them hit themselves.
And then Sunshine went with the option to absorb the moon with the bonus of illusions.
Shadow nodded. That was the safest choice. Possession often led to police brutality claims. Besides, he had seen her use the sun's magic for good, she sure as heck would be just as responsible with the moon.

Riku smiled at his girlfriend, watching her imagine the little getaway. He took her hand and squeezed it. He turned to Dorian with wide eyes, which got wider at the offer. He didn't know the Unseelie well, but knew this kind of show of gratitude was highly unlike him. He must have been really shaken by the event that had happened or he wouldn't be offering. Sunshine opted for the moon absorption and illusion powers. He blushed a deeper red at the comment about him being her moon, but nodded approvingly at the choice. It mad Sunshine a very powerful person, with a lot of tricks up her sleeve, and that, he figured, would help her with her new anxiety and fears.
Dorian nodded at the choice. It made a lot of sense ."You could make them see illusions and confuse them" he agreed. "They'll think you're in their grasp and really you're way across the room. We Unseelie use it for tricks, but I can see how it'd be useful in the defense or offense positions" he flexed his hands and offered them to her to hold. "I'm going to need to sleep soon anyway, so I might as well give it to you now" He held her hands and his eye glowed lampshade bright white, the bad one staying a milky blue-grey. His skin glowed softly too. "Now, you can choose any song or phrase to activate it, but it has to be one that makes you sad. I use this;
I'm lying on the moon, my dear, I'll be there, soon it's a quiet and starry place, Times we're swallowed in space, we're here a million miles away...
There's things I wished I knew There's nothing I'd keep from you It's a dark and shiny place but with you my dear, I'm safe"
He glowed brighter and Sunshine's hair glowed a milky silver-white, like the moon. Dorian's light began fading as Sunshine's hair got brighter. Finally he let go of her hands and the lights faded. He swayed on his feet, looking totally out of it. "I'll see if I can get you some old practice books to help teach yourself..." he mumbled. "I'm going to need to practice not walking into walls with my decreased spacial recognition now that I'm...half-blind..." He looked dead on his feet. Just when he was sure he would fall over, a little girl with elbow-length long curly hair, green skin and little tusks, came charging into the room and grabbed Dorian, holding him up. Dorian looked down in dazed surprise. "Oh, Mira...yes, I suppose it's been longer than ten minutes hasn't it" he looked around at everyone. "This is my daughter. She came over from Norway to visit but she's staying to keep me out of trouble" he gave a shaky smile, pulling his scarred lips up further. "She's a good girl" Mira waved at everyone solemnly and then pulled on her father's hand, prompting him to follow her. He looked over with his good eye at Sunshine. "Practice practice, Rachel. You're now protected by both the courts, lucky girl. Make sure to do us Unseelie proud at some point. We're rooting for you" he then shuffled slowly out of the room, pulled along by a diminutive little green girl.

It looked like Dorian was going to give Sunshine her new power now. He lit up like a flashlight, and Sunshine's hair soon did the same. Yang could feel the atmosphere in the room change. It always got heavier when serious magic was being done. By the time it was over, Dorian swayed where he stood, looking like he was about to fall over at any second. Luckily, he stayed on his feet with the help of a little girl named Mira. Apparently, she was Dorian's daughter, which surprised Yang. She hadn't taken Dorian to be the father type. But, it was clear that the two had a lot of affection for each other. Mira stayed oddly quiet. Yang wasn't sure if she was like that all the time, or just around strangers. Either way, she found her endearing and she gave the little girl a smile before she walked out with Dorian. "Well, I guess that's some good to come out of all this," she said. Sunshine may have suffered a bad injury, mentally and physically, but she'd gotten some new powers. That had to count for something. And she did seem perkier now that thoughts of romantic getaways with her new boyfriend were in her mind. If Yang were honest, she'd admit that she was scared for her friend for a moment, and worried that this whole thing would change Sunshine like losing her arm had changed her. But, it looked like she was going to bounce back from this, in due time.
