It was a cool and breezy night as Wally made his way through the cemetery. He could have done this early in the day but during this time, he wanted to be alone despite the wind and the creepy atmosphere that this place gave at night. In the teens gloved hands was a bouquet of flowers. He tended to do this almost every day, including bringing some flowers to other graves as well. As to who those flowers went to, Wally didn't want anyone to know where they had come from. The families probably thought it was some nice civilian that wanted to pay respects and offer their condolences.
The teen arrived at the usual spot. A single grave that lay almost under a tree. Mary West, the gravestone read. The area was surrounding the grave was surrounded by different flowers. Probably from not just her son but from her patients as well. The boy slowly got down on his knees and put the flowers next to the gave.
"Hey Mom." he said silently. "Sorry I'm late, I've been pretty busy trying to be a hero."

Deep within the shadows of the graveyard, something moved within the darkness. Several yards behind from where the young boy stood and in the shadow of a crypt, two golden orbs appeared within the darkness. The eyes turned towards the young man standing alone in the graveyard, watching from behind his back in silence.
Suddenly, a snort of mist shot from the darkness as a midnight black hoof struck the ground. Slowly, the hoof was followed by an equine shape as it pulled itself from the darkness, seeming to grow and gain substance from the shadows. Soon enough, a horse as dark as a moonless night stood in front of the crypt, its haunting yellow eyes watching the boy as he stood and looked at the grave set before him.
The Nightmare lightly pawed the ground, remaining as silent as the inhabitants of the tombs that surrounded it. The man had not yet noticed it and that was good. The Nightmare had its orders to carry out after all. It's Master had told it what to do, that it was to watch and wait for anyone that looked suspicious. And this young man seemed just that to the horse-shaped shadow. A stranger standing in the cemetery alone in the middle of the night. Yes, it was suspicious...
Without warning, the Nightmare suddenly reared on its hind legs and charged towards the stranger, the only thought in it's mind to follow its Master's order and subdue any suspicious character that came across its path.

[no mask today]
Wally had spent most of the minute talking to his mom's grave about his adventures so far. He talked about Weiss and her problems. Not that his mom could hear it but it made the boy feel a bit better to talk to her. Out of the corners of his eyes, Wally noticed something coming towards him. "What the hell?" he turned around quickly. Was that a horse? And why was it coming straight towards him. He didn't know anything about horses, so Wally wasn't sure what the right course of action was.
He stumbled out of the horse's path, praying that the hooves wouldn't harm the grave.

The young man managed to dodge the Nightmare's hooves as it ran past him. Immediately the equine shadow turned about and plunged forward once more, its yellow eyes fixated on the man and nothing else.
However, the silence of the graveyard was suddenly shattered when a high whistle pierced the air and echoed off the marble stones and mausoleums. Instantly the Nightmare stopped in its tracks and turned its head towards the sound, tossing its mane at the order that came with the whistle. It paused for only an instant and in that instant another figure appeared within the very shadows of the tree that the man had been standing under.
The Nightmare made its way over to the slender, pale man that had appeared. He held up his hand towards the creature and it pressed its long head against his hand in a gesture that made it clear this was its Master. The man stared at the horse for a moment, stroking it slowly before finally lifting his eyes to look at the man that stood only several feet away.
Pitch only had to look the young man up and down once to know that he was no criminal. Or at least not the kind that he was searching for that night.

Wally's heart was pounding like crazy. This was not what he had expected. A horse who just randomly appeared out of the shadows and started to attack. Now this man had seemed to tame it, was this horse his? His green eyes never left the man's face as he rose from the spot he had fallen on the ground. Thankfully, nothing seemed out of place on his mothers grave but the speedster wanted answers.
"That your horse?"

"Of course."
Once Pitch had looked the stranger up and down, he turned his focus back to the Nightmare and continued to stroke it along it's mane and back. The beast continued to stare coolly at the young man but seemed to calm under the touch of the Terror Demon.
"You will have to forgive her for charging you like that. She's rather spirited and eager to fulfill my orders."
Even as he spoke, Pitch didn't look at the young man. From his brief glance he had taken in the short orange hair, the wide green eyes, the freckly and rather easy to read face. If the Demon had truly thought that his Nightmare had caught the kind of criminal he was seeking out, one look at this stranger was enough to tell him otherwise.

"If your orders were to have her scare the ever living hell out of me then you've succeeded." Wally said, a hand remained on his heart that was still hammering in his chest. It was almost funny, he hadn't felt that scared in a long time. Not since...no. He wouldn't think about it. Not tonight.
His green eyes darted back to the grave, it was all in good place. Not one flower out of place. At least he could thank the man for that much.

"No, merely to apprehend anyone of a suspicious nature that she happened upon. And although she overreacted, you are in the middle of a graveyard late at night. Many would find that suspicious."
It was only as he finished saying this that Pitch finished stroking the Nightmare and turned towards the young man, looking at him with eyes the color of an autumn harvest moon. He raised a single back eyebrow at the stranger but otherwise stood perfectly at ease, his hands clasped behind his back loosely while the Nightmare stood just to his side.

Wally had to admit the mysterious man had a point. He was the only one here, and the fact that he was alone in gloves he probably looked like a grave robber. "Right," Wally said giving an awkward smile. "I really didn't have time to come by in the morning honestly."
That part was pretty much true, but also he wasn't being entirely honest either. He liked being here at night with no one else around.

Pitch continued to stare silently at the young man for several more moments before he finally turned to the Nightmare and gave a small nod of his head. Immediately the dark horse gave a snort before galloping away towards another bank of shadows cast by a crypt. However, as it ran straight into the solid stone of the building it was absorbed by the darkness and simply vanished from view.
Pitch himself quickly lost interest in the stranger before him and headed towards one of the many paths that meandered through the graveyard. He was on patrol that night with countless Nightmares dispersed throughout Bellerouge, reporting back to him if they observed any kind of criminal activities. However, things had been rather quiet that evening so far. He might as well stay in the graveyard and wait to see if his shadow creatures would have anything to report.

"Wait-" Wally called after him, not sure why he had done so. He should have just left the stranger be but if someone was doing something dangerous to the cemetary he wanted to help. He picked up his feet and caught up to Pitch, it was pretty easy. "You mentioned anyone suspicious. Is there anyway I can help?"

"Why? Do you have much experience in handling criminals?"
Pitch paused in his stroll and turned slightly so that one yellow eye could look at the man. The question had the slightest edge of a bite to it as he stood there, looking very much as if he himself belonged in the graveyard alongside the dead and lingering spirits. He wasn't in a very humoring mood that evening and wanted nothing more then to return to his patrol.

Wally nodded. "I've dealt with quite a few from time to time." he replied, "Like I said, anythingI can do to help. I don't want anyone messing with graves especially for loved ones." Wally crossed his arms over his chest, even if Pitch denied him the request, the boy would try to find a way to help anyways.
The boy was stubborn that much was true and it was both a good and bad trait for him. Even if the man gave him the creeps, he was certain that this dark man was better than Evie. At least that's what he thought anyways. The moon was still out so at least there was some daylight but part of him was still a little bit worried that something would pop out of the shadows.

"And what of Demons?"
Pitch didn't wait for a response but merely turned away from the young man and continued once more down the path before him. He'd heard such talk before, someone who felt a compulsion to fight crime only to realize that the kinds of criminals they could face in Bellerouge were literally monsters. And once they got a small taste of the horrors that lurked within the dark recesses of the city, the lucky ones were able to turn and run. The unlucky ones, however......
Pitch strolled silently down the path, his footsteps making no sound as he walked away from the young man.

Demons. His thoughts drifted to that night in the alley. Eve. It still got to him, she had made him lower his guard and had gotten under his skin. She had toyed with his emotions and knew about his mom. It angered him and at the same time really had scared him. What if others ran into her. He couldn't let that happen.
"I've only met one but I can handle it." he said, following after the man, not letting his powers show but he had been easy to make his pace look slow
