He had gotten too cocky. That was all he could think about. How idiotic he had been to not just run as soon as the cops showed up. He had taken care of some of the troublemakers but when the cops had shown, the teen had thought that it would be a good idea to help them take care of the rest. Of course, maybe it was his own fault for not being in his suit (thankfully he had managed to pull a quick cover to change just as the police had finished their business). To the cops they probably thought that he was interfering with police business.
Thankfully, no one had seen him use his powers. At least he doubted they did, the ones who probably had were in a cell and probably very dizzy. The cuffs around his wrists were very annoying and he wanted to keep moving. He had things to do. He could feel his impatience as his body took over and his foot started tapping on the ground rapidly.

The room to the interrogation room opened. Wally was in for some good luck, because the cop who entered went easy on minors. And this cop was getting bored of reading cold case files and leafing through which ones had potential for the Others Unit to take on. The red and black hedgehog also had a training date with a good friend, so interrogation was, well, something to get him moving.
The kid in question didn't look guilty. If anything, he looked as if he had just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. The handcuffs probably were making the situation worse. Shadow knew some officers were behind the window, too.
Most cops went into the Reid process. But Shadow...well, he had learned not everyone slapped in here was guilty. This kid just wanted to go home; probably. Time to get him comfortable. The kid's tapping feet got his attention. Running shoes. Good basis to go on.
"Nice runners," he said casually. "Are you on any big name teams?"

The kid's tapping feet got his attention. Running shoes. Good basis to go on. "Nice runners," he said casually. "Are you on any big name teams?" Finally. Wally's thoughts were many things but that was the main one. He had been bored. His gaze went to Shadow and honestly he had to do several double takes before he heard the actual question. "Oh, thanks...and no no teams. I'd probably leave them all in the dust anyways." He tried to joke but being in a room like this was not a joking matter. Was he really having a conversation with a black and red hedgehog? It couldn't be real. Did someone do something to him during the the time of the encounter with the criminals. Maybe all the encounters with demons were messing with his brain.

Flourescent lighting and metal furniture in a room without any pictures was not the best place for comedy. The surprising thing was, the kid's retort did make Shadow's lip twitch up ever so slightly. It was his version of a silent laugh, and acknowledging that the kid was funny. A jokester, and an athelete. It gave Shadow something to go off on.
"Have you clocked your fastest speed?" he asked. Again, it was casual. This could also explain if this was a wrong place at the wrong time scenario like he thought.

"You know you aren't the only person who has asked me that." Wally said, Weiss had asked him the same thing not too long ago. Did this cop know about his powers? That could only be the logical conclusion to why he would ask that. Part of him was curious to know if this cop was an Other as well.
"No, no one has timed me, at least not yet." He replied, he had no doubt that he would be fast and that was the problem. He had known quite a few people at school who considered those to be different as freaks or trash. If a track coach or a teacher had seen him do what he did, he had no doubt that they would probably find a way to expel him.

Wasn't the first to ask that. huh? Shadow made a mental note to bring that up. That comment could go in an either or direction. Despite the comment being a gray area, there was no hostility. Heck, the kid had been pretty good just talking to him softly. He nodded simply in response to no one timing the kid's running speed. That must have meant there was speed being put into the equation. Shadow's clocked speed went above hypersonic, but he didn't want to brag, not uring an interrogation. Speaking of which, the kid passed the 'comofrt' test. It was time to start weaseling into the supposed crime.
"Would you say you were quick enough to catch the thugs on Elm and Amity?"

Wally glanced at him with a little bit of unconcern and wary. There was something going on. This hedgehog knew something. Wally may come off as dumb but he wasn't. He was actually probably the smartest kid in his class when he ever bothered to attend school.
"What would you say if I told you that maybe I was?"

"Then I'd ask what you were doing in there. You don't look like you were with them, and if you ask me, you don't deserve those handcuffs on your wrist."
Well that the most he could say to let the kid know he was on his side and keep his job. This kid was innocentbtbrough and through. He had just crossed paths and his fellow officers confused him for a runner; from a crime that is. Plus the Reid routine was boring in situations like this.

Wally sighed, there was no way he was going to be able to just slide by out of this one. He let out a sigh before putting his hands out in front of him and then stared at the hedgehog square in the eye. "I was stopping them from hurting everyone." he said seriously. "They could have hurt someone far worse if I hadn't been there."
He sure hadn't really wanted to trust the cops after all that happened, but this cop seemed to think he was innocent. It was not the best thing to think about that he could take on all criminals. "Sometimes the police can't do it all." Maybe he was just bitter that after all these months he hadn't been any closer to finding answers to what happened that night or even how he had gotten his ability.

Shadow looked long at hard at the kid, red eyes to green. The kid had let out a sigh that showed frustration. That could have been a sign that kid wasn't telling the truth or was just saying what the cop wanted to hear. But the kid also was looking him in the eyes when he said it, which was a sign of trust. Not to mention the serious tone was unwavered. So Shadow was right; the kid had been trying to help. It was just a mistaken identity. After finsihing the stare at Wally, he looked at the black glass wall that acted as the hideaway for the other cops listening. The ones who made the arrest were probably back there.
"I'll be back in a bit, kid."
Collecting the files, Shadow left the room to face the other cops. One of them nodded with an impressed manner while another had his shoulders slouched over in guilt. "He's telling the truth," he reported. "He meant well, and got tangled up. Can I have the keys?"
In a jingling motion, the handcuff keys were tossed his way. He caught them with one hand, and gestured for the two to leave. Once they walked off with their heads hung low in shame, he returned to get the redhead unlocked. "Situation's resolved," he told him.

Wally's gaze went from serious to shock. "Just like that?" he asked raising a red eyebrow in confusion. This had to be a big trick. There was no way that cops would let him go just like that. The boy was dying to get the cuffs off though, they were starting to itch. It didn't help also that he wanted to get out and run to burn off some energy.
This cop seemed to be alright though, not like the others who wouldn't give him a time of day but it never hurt to be sure. "What's the catch?"

"The catch is you tell me if you got any information from them. I shooed away the guys who brought you here in the first place, just so they'd stop looking at me funny. If you don;t know anything, that's fine, too," Shadow twirled the keys semi-tauntingly. The cops weren't there to keep him in check to "follow their rules." Now it was his chance.

Information? That was it? That seemed simple enough. At least he hoped it was simple enough. Though that was kind of a vague topic. "What kind of informaton?" he asked. Wally was always able to tell if someone had information, normally criminals blabbed anything they wanted just to get away from it all. He never let them go but those thugs did blab quite a bit.
"Are you looking into something that they might know?"

"Just anything that might help us figure out what they wanted. Even something like their clothing could help. You're someone that wants to help, I see it in your eyes," he pointed to the kid's eyes, "and between you and me, we need more civilians standing up for the lesser peoples, so thanks for having the balls to do that."

Wally gave a tiny smile at that. At least someone was understanding about the whole thing. Most others would be critizing him for trying to help. 'Leave it to the police' was always the same excuse. He bit his lip trying to remember what they were wearing. Most of the time during his actions, he never looked at what they were wearing, he only paid attention to what they were doing and then if the victim was hurt.
These were a bit more obvious though. "One of them was a teen, early teens probably about a year or two younger than me." What had he been wearing? "He was pretty tall, kind of skinny too. He had pretty messy brown hair too." There had been more obvious things about others but it had surprised him to see someone his own age doing something like breaking and entering.
