Jim walked into the offices to work on some research for his brother on one of the cases the two brothers were working on. He was just finishing logging onto his computer when a familiar mane of yellow hair. A mane of hair he hadn't seen in months, someone that he had hoped never to run into again. Once he was sure that he and Yang were the only two people in the room he shouted. "What the hell are you doing here?!"

The offices in the back were mostly empty, but the officer at the front desk assured Yang that there was a packet of information inside waiting for her. While she wasn't quite ready to apply to a position yet, she felt like she should at least get a list of all the requirements for being an officer. That way, she could focus her training on something specific if need be. After all, it was more than knowing how to kick someone in the face or drive a car. You had to negotiate with a criminal if the situation called for it. You had to know the law like the back of your hand. And you needed to leave all personal baggage at the door when working on a case. Yang knew she had a lot to learn, but she had hope that in the next month or two, she could take a police test and try to get in. She found her packet quickly enough, but was startled to see that she wasn't the only one back here. And out of all the officers at the Others Unit, it just had to be the one she wasn't friends with. Her last encounter with Jim had been...awkward, to say the least. Well, more awkward for him than her. She'd practically made out with him in order to give him the slip. Judging by his angry tone, he hadn't forgotten about the incident. Still, he didn't need to sound so accusatory. It wasn't like she was breaking and entering into the place. "Getting some paperwork. What does it look like?" she asked, holding up the packet with her right hand. Ever since she had gotten the new prosthetic arm, she'd been using it whenever she could in order to get used to it. So far, there hadn't been many difficulties, which made her happy.

Jim took a few deep breaths to calm down. True the last time he had interacted with Yang, had been a while ago, but the memory and humiliation was still fresh. He had heard that the force was gaining a new member, he just had never thought that it would be her. "So." He said when he was calmer. "I take it you're the new team member?" He said in a slightly irritated voice. He was making an effort to be polite, especially since it looked like she'd been through a lot of stuff since they had last crossed paths.

"Potential new member, I guess you could say," Yang replied. "Nothing's official until I pass the entrance exam." Her friends seemed pretty confident that she could pass it if given enough time to train, but Yang felt like she shouldn't start counting her chickens before they hatched. She wanted to be sure she got in here before she made any more police officer plans. For a moment she was quiet, not sure what to say. Should she apologize for what she did last time she and Jim ran into each other? Or would that just make things awkward? She might be working with Jim in the future if she became an officer, and they had to be on somewhat decent terms if they wanted to do their jobs well. "Sorry for making out with you" felt like such an awkward apology though. Still, she might as well get it out of the way now, so there was no bad blood between them. "So...um...about last time we met...sorry about that," she said, feeling more awkward by the second. She regretted quite a few things she had done while living on the streets, but she didn't think this one would come back to bite her in the butt so soon.

Potential. So that meant that someone on the force thought that Yang had some potential to be a cop. Jim was loath to admit it, but he did agree with whoever recommended Yang. When she apologized, he blinked in surprise but then smiled. "Let's just not talk about that. That way we can start on a clean slate. Agreed?"

It looked like Yang's apology was enough to warm Jim over. His expression softened and his words weren't so accusing like they were before. Yang hadn't expected to be forgiven so easily, but she was willing to take this if it meant no more awkwardness between her and Jim. "Agreed," she said, smiling a little. If Jim could forgive her, maybe any other cop she had run into in the past could do the same.
