Shadow let out a bitter laugh as he set down the gazette he was reading. Once again, the reporters were romanticizing things they had no right to be talking about. Thrax's murder at the hands of Elemental Gang was front and center. The image of the 'LIAR' brand was seeming to burn through the rest of the paper. He folded the picture back. The past was the past...
Or was it?
He couldn't trust any memory of his anymore. It seemed every memory that Disparion had given back to him hurt to think. Like having an intense migraine without any medicine to make them stop. He was back to square one with remembering who he was and what he was created for. The only thing he was sure of was the connection of Disparion and the professor...and..
Her name came out. A storm had hit Puerto Rico. Shadow slammed his hand to get the image fo the frightened blue-eyed, blonde-haired girl staring at him before the gunshot rang out of his mind.
"Maria..." he muttered.

Shiro was ordering his usual easy order of black coffee with a shot of cream when he recognized one of the Patrons. Making his way over he smile "Mind if I sit with you?" the polite tone in his voice before the hand slam and looked on worriedly "Are you okay?". Waiting to here the reply to both questions he stood sipping on the coffee.

Maria had been shot. He promised her he'd help people with his gifts. Then she had died. Shadow blinked rapidly, the image of dead Maria dissolving away back to the table on Nevermore. A metal hand cradling a coffee cup stood in front of him. The owner was a man with black and white hair, different than Cruella D'Enfer's style. Also unlike her, he looked...concerned.
Shadow took a breath to stop whatever anxiety was in him to simmer down. "Sure. I'm fine."

Shiro takes a seat across the table from Shadow and sends him a warm smile. "I'm Shiro one of the EMTs for the hospital." he says politely introducing himself as he sips his coffee "Rough night?". Shiro knew the man probably didn't want to talk about whatever was happening so he changed the subject so Shadow didn't have to worry about prying questions.

"Shadow Griffiths of the Others Unit." Since the introduction keny itself to names and employment, he threw that in. He picked up his coffee and sipped, tasting the bitterness that soothed the last few bits of nervousness. "And trust me, I wouldn't be as nice as I am now if it had been a rough night."

Shiro blinked a bit before realizing this was the person who helped Yang and he chuckles a bit. "That is true also... I want to thank you... for helping Yang when I couldn't..." he whispered gripping onto his coffee. "She is like a sister to me and I always tried to help her and the kids when I could getting groceries that kinda thing... then when I went missing for almost six months... all this stuff happened... So thank you for helping her through that and getting the kids to safe and loving homes." Shiro said still mentally kicking himself at not remember how he went missing or anything during that time, time he could have spent helping and keeping his quasi family safe.

So this stranger knew Yang? Well, then again, who didn't? But to find people who knew her during her street days, and not as the arm candy of Adrian...and as Shadow knew, the relationship wasn't just a "cute fluff gossip" of the tabloids...and had a positive thing about her and kids, it was rare to come across. Shiro was giving him nothing but gratitude and the red and black hedgehog simply nodded as he rambled. "She and her gang didn't deserve to be living in fear. Nice to know she had someone else watching her back."

"Now if I can figure out what happened those six months I'd be golden..." he says with a laugh before sipping more on his Coffee. "Though you will probably see me more if Yang does the police academy... kinda told her I'd come to the graduation with a obnoxiously large sign of 'That's my little sister'..." he says with a wry smile rubbing the back of his head.

"She already graduated," Shadow pointed out. "Passed the written exams, and I graded her on the physical aspects; passed with flying colors." The graduation of becoming a cop had been a small gathering of Yang's friends, cops and noncops alike. If Shiro had a sign of the surrogate brother, Shadow would have broken professionalism with the "surrogate father" sign. It would raise questions, like if Yang was his biological kid and how the heck he was able to sire a human child, butvthat was him thinking humanity was stupid, as he seemed to do more frequently. Despite finding a few exceptions, that opinion seemed to stay the same

"Shoot I missed...it.." he says looking a bit downcast. "Well my patients need me and I am sure Yang understands... still I feel a bit bad for missing but..". Shiro purses his lips a bit before looking at Shadow "She actually told me I should talk to you guys about my disappearance... I mean me vanishing on a call one day only to come back six months later delirious and barely able to say a single word in English... is kinda bit deal you know? Especially cause I actually like my job being able to help people and stuff.."

O...kay...if talking to a cop about his sudden disappearance was what Shiro wanted, maybe a public cafe wasn't the ideal location to talk about it. Regardless, the homunculus made a mental note to add it to the ever-growing pile of supernatural crimes. Usually, a missing person's case was considered stale if the person in question finally showed up. The downside was even with the person appearing, holes started appearing. Holes that needed to be patched by the Others Unit. "Interesting," was the only comment he could come with that wouldn't get him trouble but communicate he got Shiro's dilemma.

"Maybe... this isn't the best place to talk about...it.." Shiro realized chuckles a bit rubbing the back of his head. "I am not entirely sure of the protocol for this kinda thing to be completely honest.". Shiro was not entirely he wanted to know but he knew it was going to bother him for months if he didn't find out why he was gone for so long.

"If it helps, you aren't the only one with a bad memory. I'm still trying to figure out my last. I kept getting pieces, but some don't fit." Pieces that included being s copy of something else, of being a weapon created to induce fear or being the ultimate cure. No matter how hard Shadow tries to attach recollections to his one consistent memories, the ones of Maria, it all was fumbling downhill.

"Um who should I talk to about trying to regain them in a healthy manner!?" Shiro word vomited out before sighing softly. "Being an Unseelie... I need to know if... I went on a rampage or something... and the possibility of hurting some one..." he start clutching his chest tightly as if even the concept of such a thing wounded him.

Word vomit. Now Shiro was taking like a criminal and Shadow wasn't sure how to make of it. The good news was the guilt wasn't of doing some unlawful it was just the freakout of losing memories. Shadow knew how that was. He had wandered homeless and penniless in Bellerouge without any knowledge of who he was for a while. It hadn't been until he saved the commissioner of the police himself that gave him a last name to go with the name haunting him that he accepted as his own.
"I know someone at work named Dorian," he hedged, "He's an Unseelie thrown out from the courts, too. I also know a Seelie on the force named Aqua Malone. They may have more knowledge on your memories and it can be spoken about behind closed doors."
