Jenna walked toward the river her ears twitching as she heard the heartbeat of a fish that was sick. Unlike other Hearthounds she wasn't terrified of water. Soon the fish was in her line of sight. She leaped into the water, sinking her claws into the heart of the fish. Opening a portal, the fish she had just killed appeared on the bank of the river. Once it was on the bank the portal closed. She leapt back onto the bank at the sound of someone approaching.

Even though Thrax was finally dead and gone, that didn't mean all of Adeline's problems were necessarily solved. For one thing, she'd been keeping a close eye on Weiss ever since she'd been found, and the conflicting reports about her made her uneasy. Her parents always claimed that she was recovering just fine. Some sources believed them, others didn't, and it was hard to figure out which side of the story should be believed. Adeline didn't know the LaFayettes at all and whether they would lie about something like this. Then, there was the matter of her relationship with Pitch. She was trying to figure out a good time to tell her parents about him, and just thinking about how badly the conversation could go made her nervous. She knew it was the right thing to do, but that didn't make the situation any less daunting. Her thoughts were interrupted, however, when she felt something strange in the air. It wasn't necessarily bad. It was just a reaction she got sometimes when she sensed magic in the area. However, as she drew closer to the river, all she saw was a dog with red fur. Adeline's brow furrowed. The dog looked completely ordinary, and she couldn't see any other signs of magical happenings. "Hmm, wonder what that was," she muttered to herself.

Jenna shook herself off before she walked over to the fish and began to nibble on it while observing the newcomer. Her ears pointed straight at the girls heart, gathering information from the sounds she heard. As she listened she tilted her head in confusion, it was slightly demonic. But it didn't sound like those who were possessed by a demon, it sounded more like the duality of a werewolf's heart. "Wonder what what was?" She asked finishing the fish.

Adeline gave a startled yelp and jumped nearly a foot in the air. She hadn't expected the dog to be able to talk like a regular person. Then again, maybe she should be beyond being surprised by stuff like that. Bellerouge was a town full of all sorts of colorful characters. A talking dog was probably the least weird thing around here. "Sorry. I didn't mean..." She stopped, realizing she was tripping over her words and babbling like an idiot. She stopped for a moment to collect her thoughts before speaking again. "Sorry. I didn't know you were a...talking dog." At least, that was what it looked like. Was there more to this dog? Who knew?

Jenna's ears flattened slightly in embarrassment. She hadn't meant to startle the girl. "Sorry about that. I didn't mean to startle you.I'm used to being around members of the Others unit." She said wrapping her tail around her feet. "I'm Jenna. Jenna Bragin."

"I'm Adeline Nevermore." At least Adeline managed to say that without stuttering. However, she was surprised to hear that Jenna knew the Others Unit. Was she part of it? Or just an informant? Adeline knew that they worked closely with the Others Unit, but weren't necessarily part of it. It used to confuse her, when she was learning how the police system worked in this town. "Oh, I know someone on the Others Unit," she said. "Pitch Black. Do you know him?" Granted, Pitch didn't have a great social life, so the odds that he knew Jenna were small. But it was worth a shot.

"Nice to meet you Adeline." Jenna said nodding in response to being asked if she knew Pitch. "Well I know of him. Never really had a heart to heart talk with him." Jenna chuckled to herself a little at the choice of words. "Honestly I don't think anyone can get that close to him. But I've been wrong before."

Adeline gave a little laugh. While her relationship with Pitch did prove that he could form attachments, she understood where Jenna was coming from. "He certainly is the...closed-off, type of guy," she said. Heck, she'd even thought the same thing when she met him. It'd taken her a while to even guess what was on his mind. He just held everything in, and it was only because she knew him so well that she could read the subtle signs that hinted at what he was thinking. "He's good though. He's helped me a lot," she added.

Jenna noticed that when she had mentioned getting close to Pitch, Adeline's heart seemed to skip a beat. Her ears flicked toward the other girl's chest. Sure enough, the Hearthound heard the unmistakable sound of a heart in love. "Glad to hear that he's helping you." She said. "So how'd you two meet?"

"We met at the cemetery," Adeline replied, without really thinking. Then she realized how odd that sounded and added "It's not as creepy as it sounds." She mentally face-palmed, remembering when she'd done the nearly the same thing when telling Axel about Pitch. Well, technically, she hadn't dropped any names yet. All Axel really knew was what Adeline liked a guy and that he was older than her. She wasn't sure when she'd tell him all the details. She was having a hard enough time telling her parents about their relationship, let alone any of her friends. Regardless, she continued with her answer to Jenna's question. "We just kind of bumped into each other and he agreed to help me out with some...personal problems." Dropping the bomb that she'd involved with Thrax, and was even the one who summoned him in the first place, was still hard for her to say to people. She usually didn't mention it unless they directly asked, or she trusted them enough to tell them. Thrax may be dead, but he was still a touchy subject.

"Funny enough," Jenna said. "I actually met my first friend on the outskirts of the cemetery." Her eyes grew sad at the memory of Rosie's death. She tilted her head at the mention of personal problems. Adeline's heart sounded like she was still troubled by something. "Do you want to talk about it?" She asked. "It seems like something is still bothering you." She said flicking her ears toward the girl's heart.

Jenna picked up on Adeline's down mood pretty quickly. Then again, she could be like an open book sometimes, no matter how much she tried to keep her emotions in control. She sighed, figuring there wasn't any real point in hiding it. Heck, Jenna might already know her connection to Thrax. She was sure her name had been mentioned along with his a few times, mainly because she'd been his only target for so long. "Well, I guess you could say the stuff Pitch helped me sort out is different from the problems I have now," she said before even realizing that that sounded vaguely as hell. She gave another sigh, deciding to just get to the point. "You know how when the news would mention Thrax, they'd mention how a teenage girl summoning him was his way into Bellerouge? That...was me."

Jenna had never followed the news that closely, but she had heard Thrax's name thrown around a few times. The news of a teenage girl being mentioned had caught her attention a few times, but she had been busy with other things. Things that had prevented her from following that lead. Instead of saying anything, however, she simply nodded. The poor girl seemed like she had been through a lot. "How about we change the subject," Jenna suggested, sensing that Adeline might not want to talk about Thrax. "I mean if you'd like. I'm sure you have some questions for me."

Jenna actually didn't seem too surprised. Or maybe she was keeping it to herself. Adeline knew some people did that, in order to avoid hurting her feelings or making her upset. Jenna suggested changing the subject, but Adeline shook her head. "No, it's okay. I mean, he's gone now. I should get used to not, like, cringing anytime I mention his name, you know?" Thrax was dead and gone, and he wasn't going to hurt her again. Adeline didn't have to be scared of him anymore. And while talking about him might not get any easier for a while, she wanted to at least be able to mention him and not feel so much guilt. That was usually what she felt the most when thinking about him, besides fear.

Even though she didn't know Adeline that well, Jenna was proud at the girl's determination to no longer be afraid of Thrax. She gave an approving smile and a nod. She thought about what she could ask that wouldn't be too intrusive. "Anything that's definitely off-limits concerning him?" She asked deciding to play it safe.
