He sighed. "Since I left my aunt's house when I was twelve. Apparently he saw an opportunity to groom me to be a proper heir. But well, I never liked the demonic side of me anyway, so I always resisted. I mean, I've been surviving using the demonic side, but other than that I've been trying to live with as little to do with Hexxus as possible. Even Van knows better than to bring him up. I move apartments too whenever Hexxus shows up there. But I'm running out of places to move to, ya know?"

Bitter cruelty was hounding him for years then. Elsa found it strange that if he wanted to avoid darkness he was dating Vanitas, but to avoid an insult, she focused on her screen, looking for jobs. “I assume that you used wards...” Assume assume...she had to stop using that word, but it was the best she could offer.

"Some, but witches and voodoo doctors cost money and I've only recently been making enough to really work, but seeing as I'm his son sometimes they repel me, too" he laughed a little nervously. It was kind of a testament to how pathetic he was that proper wards wouldn't even work right for him. He was terrible. He also knew what she was thinking, because it was obvious. If he went to such lengths to avoid darkness, why was he dating Vanitas? He wasn't sure to be honest. He kept coming back to the fact Vanitas had randomly offered such kindnesses over their relationship. It made Moses hope.

“Okay...” Elsa paused briefly. That left very few options. Some employers had wards that would have the effects Moses described. He couldn’t go to a job that literally showed him the door. The printer to her right and she picked up the sheet. A blue pen, sparkling ink, was picked up and she crossed off the employers she knew wouldn’t benefit Moses. “I wish I could help more, really I could...” She banded it to him, sympathy written on her features

He bit his lip and took the offered paper, glancing over the list of jobs. None were much better than his current job, although several paid a fair bit more. But he knew one place he could always go to to help him, that wasn't on Elsa's list. Though he'd save Cruella for after going to all the jobs listed and going over his options. "If you can think of ways for Van to get a lesser sentence-even though that's not what you want, it would make my life easier-please contact me" he took a pen and notebook out of his pocket and scribbled his number on a page, tore it out, and handed it to Elsa. "All I want is him moving to my apartment" he said quietly. "So I can help him more" and it minimized the chances of Vanitas sneaking out of the house all the time.

“...Does Van...does your boyfriend make money?” Finally Elsa could say it comfortably. Deep down, the gnawing of something going wrong was in her mind. She didn’t want to help Vanitas. Helping Moses was by extension doing that. Yet Moses was in worse trouble. One wrong move and Hexxus would be on him. She accepted his contact information, handing him one of her frosty business cards. “I suggest keeping my information on standby. I also know some demon hunters who can help with Hexxus. Their numbers are on there. I also suggest arming yourself with Lapis Lazuli. The Egyptians used it as blessings and it’s proven to be the most protective for half demons. It won’t harm you and,” she looked away, “more importantly it won’t harm Vanitas.”

Moses hesitated and then shook his head. He wasn't aware of Van making money. "Even if he did I don't accept the money, He got it through illegal means" He was big on making his way legally right now and that meant no ill gotten money. "Lapis Lazuli? How come I never heard of it before?" where was this when he'd been a kid?

Once again, Elsa questioned what Moses saw in Vanitas. He was making dirty money but Moses wanted nothing to do with it. This whole relationship was toxic, and the thought was making her nervous. She was also withholding a big part about lapis; it doubled as a third eye, meaning anyone with a lapis stone could track anyone wearing it. “Lapis is one of those hard to obtain stones because of its value. Most jewelry made from it was created in a lab. Or the metals worked with it cancel out its proper usage.” She smiles slightly. “I’ve learned a few things from defending Demons to learn different kinds of small tidbits.”

"I might have to save up to get one" Moses said quietly, thoughtfully, with a determined glint in his eye. "I'll do my best to get this, and protect us. It'll be hard to get, but worth it" He smiled gratefully at her. "You've been a big help, Miss Crispin. Thanks for taking my case on, even if you don't like Vanitas. He can be a handful, I admit, but he can also be a real sweetheart sometimes. Though...I guess you'll just have to take my word for it" he gave a slightly nervous laugh. "Anyway, thanks again" he got up to leave.

“There’s a jeweler on Magnolia Road named Ages you could talk to. Maybe cut you a deal,” Elsa offered. Moses looked determined to find something. Even with the cold shoulder she had given him, hecwas grateful for help. She wanted so badly to warn him to be careful, but her heart couldn’t loosen yet. The most she could say was, “Moses...you have friends outside of the shadows. Remember that.” She stood, the frosted chiffon on her skirt blowing as she got the door.

"I'll see them then, thank you" he really was grateful for her help and her advice. It was more than he deserved. He turned to her a little quizzically. "I know" he said, remembering Yang. He really needed to talk to her again. Smooth things over. "I only have Vanitas pulling me to the dark" he laughed softly. "Honestly though, I think I'm doing better for him than anything. He's improving I can see it"

Elsa just smiled, but her eyes showed weariness. When someone went down so dark as Vanitas, pulling them back was more than just trying to make things better. A relationship needed balance, and unless the demon stopped making money illegally, it wouldn't end well. She thanked Moses and shut the door, slumping back over her tea and praying she didn't make a huge mistake. ((end thread))
