Jenna was shocked when she opened a portal back home and found the hall covered in ice. The entire house was almost as cold as the underworld. Sure she had seen Elsa's powers get a little out of control a few times, but it was never this bad. The hearthound shivered as her ears twitched, trying to locate her friend. "Elsa!" She called out concern filling her voice as the sound of her friend's heart almost drowning in sadness. "What's going on?!" She called out as she followed the sound to where her roommate was.

“Go away, Jenna!”
Elsa’s voice reverberated from her bedroom. While her powers over ice had spread through the manor, the core had been in her room. Everything was cold, and for once, it had been getting to the lawyer. Her breath was frosting from shallow breaths. Elsa had been crying on and off since was rescued in the bayou by the Others Unit. The last thing she needed right now was someone walking in.

Despite being told to go away, Jenna continued to follow the sound of her friend's heartbeat. The closer she got to where Elsa was, the colder it got. She fluffed her fur up against the cold. Once she got to the bedroom door, she nosed it open. "Not when you're in this much distress." The Hearthound spoke in a kind but very firm tone. She sat down in front of the door but didn't approach Elsa, and wouldn't until she knew what had upset her friend and knew how to help.

Elsa glared at the door opening. "You don't understand. My powers are going nuts and it's out of my control. I don't want to hurt you." It was the truth. Ever since Lilith had pinned her to be the Vessel of Sadness, everywhere she went seemed to spread ice and snow. Somehow it didn't melt even in the hot summer of Louisiana. A section of the bayou was going to turn into a bayou. If someone ended up too close to her, they would be thrown back or frozen in place.

At Elsa's warning, Jenna opened a portal to the underworld directly behind her. "Then I'll make sure I have a way out." She explained taking a small step back, so one paw was in the portal. She took a step forward so she was no longer in the portal. After the demonstration, she sat down wrapping her tail around her paws. "I won't approach you unless you want me to Esa. But I'm not leaving until I know what's going on. You were there for me when I needed a friend, let me return the favor."

Elsa hugged herself closer. Yes, because a portal in the underworld going off in her bedroom was an amazing sign. The hearthound just showed she was able to come and go easily. The lawyer lowered her head so her forehead was touching her knees. What could she tell Jenna? That people died because of her? People she could have saved? Jenna hadn't been subjected to torture because of her choices against her pack? Right? Her breath was shaky with frost rising on the chilled air. "I was attacked."

It was hard not to go to her friend and comfort her, but Jenna had meant what she said about not approaching Elsa unless she asked. Instead of moving toward her friend, she shifted her weight on her paws, tricking her mind into thinking she was moving. Her hackles rose at being told that Elsa had been attacked. "By who?" She growled. While that did sort of explain why Elsa was upset, but it didn't explain why her magic was out of control, or why her heart sounded so sad.

Elsa shook her head and closed her eyes. The water forming in them crystallized on her lashes. The small ice fell onto the frozen floor, dripping and freezing upward. She flicked away the ice with a finger and even then some of the water became snowflakes that joined the other floating ice droplets. She clenched her chest and was relieved to hear her heart still beating. Jenna could hear it and know she wasn't putting on an act.
"A demon. I don't know what she wanted, but she chose me. She made me a...Vessel of Sadness. Whatever that means."

Jenna let out a quiet whine, at the sound of Elsa's heart. She wanted to go over and warm her up, comfort her. When Elsa said that she had been chosen by a demon to be the Vessel of Sadness, her hackles and she growled. She had heard a bit about vessels that embodied four core negative emotions. "It's exactly what it sounds like Elsa." She murmured.

"How did you know?! You knew all this time about these vessels and you never told me?!" Elsa was glaring at the hearthound. Her blue eyes were blazing with unshed tears and frustration. All this time her roommate had known about this danger. Not once had she told her anything. It was more of a betrayal than Lilith impersonating Jenna.

"Only whispers. From my pack. A long time ago." Jenna said lowering her ears and body to the ground in an act of submission and apology. "They were told like stories, legends. I had no idea they were a threat now." Her voice came out like a whimper. "I'm so sorry Elsa. Had I known, I would have said something."

"Oh." Elsa turned away, cradling one of the snowflakes that was hovering in absolute bliss. She sighed. Unlike most people, who let out cold breaths in chilly environments, her breath had no frosted wells. She wiped her eyes, feeling an apology come up in time with Jenna's. "And I'm sorry I couldn't help you with your...crush."

Jenna sat back up when Elsa responded with a simple 'Oh'. At the sigh, the hearthound once again fought to keep her promise to not approach Elsa unless she asked. "Elsa," She began. "You have nothing to apologize for. That's something that we can work on later." It felt odd that Elsa would bring that up now. Hoping to find a way to help her friend, Jenna asked: "Did this demon tell you why she chose you to become a vessel?"

Work on later? No, Elsa had to fix this. She had to fix all the wrongs that Lilith had pointed out for her. She pulled her knees closer to her chest, trying to find some kind of warmth in the cold. It thankfully had stopped snowing and the ice was beginning to thaw as the air became less chilled. "No," she answered, shaking her head.

Jenna took a half step toward her friend before she caught herself. While Jenna wasn't a dog or someone's pet, she had picked up a few traits of domesticated canines. That and since she wasn't human the way that she could comfort people were limited. Plus she could tell that Elsa was cold. She looked into Elsa's eyes imploring her to allow her to come closer. "You gave me some very good advice, now, let me help you with this a little before we go back to my issue. Alright?" She asked.
