Roman was so tired of the people around him. Most of them were utter idiots, and those that were not were only interested in stealing everything he was working for. Three people were dumped in the river in the last week. The good thing about demon invasion was that he could snag as many people as he wanted without being noticed. And now the sky was blue! That was a total plus.
He had left his bowler, but not his cane, at the warehouses, and opted for grey sweater with a white knee length coat. Much warmer than his trench. Roman walked in the coffee shop with an air of annoyed exhaustion. He moved to the counter and pointed at their board. "Black holiday blend, and honey, please"

While some people were probably breathing a sigh of relief knowing that the apocalypse was over, Weiss knew that there was still so much work to be done. During the whole event, she'd been concerned with giving people extra protection and making sure they were safe. Now, she was involved in the city-wide effort of cleaning up the city. A good number of ordinary citizens were lending their help in fixing buildings, locating loved ones, even taking down any monsters that remained. Weiss knew that helping the community was what a good Voodoo Queen should do, and that's what she was focused on. Of course, while helping people was important, it was also important to take care of herself too. She'd pushed herself a little too far when taking down a huge monster with Kid Flash and she didn't want something like that to happen again. So, for the moment, she was taking a break and getting something to eat. While the Nevermore Coffeehouse wasn't especially crowded, it did seem like there were more than a few people who had the same idea as her. Or maybe they were just hoping that a nice cup of coffee could chase away whatever sour mood they were feeling. That certainly seemed to be the case for a man who came in and ordered shortly after Weiss did. He almost reminded her of her mom or dad when they'd had a rough day at work. Attempting to make some conversation, she said "So...bad case of the Mondays?"

Roman turned to whomever was speaking to him. He knew this little girl! Hard not to, given how her and her brother and the abuse scandal had been on every news page for months the last year. And she was a singer in an Other band, pretty interesting kid. However, given brother and sister in law were cops, he wasn’t about to recruit her, welcome as her money might have been. “Guess you could say that” he turned around and ordered a salad, soup and sandwich special as on reflection, he’d put off eating for maybe a day and a half. “Working for Other rights got a fair bit harder when demons ransacked the place, some of my advocates are dead or in the ICU, and trying to get some of the shelters fixed for my people left me without a chance to eat or sit in...maybe two days? And it freakin sucks”so he was upping the ‘I am so pathetic please feel bad for me’ card. He deserved some after the summer destruction.

Weiss could see recognition flicker in the man's eyes. Of course, she was used to that by now. These days, she didn't have to introduce herself too much. Most people knew who she was just by looking at her. As for the guy, Weiss had no idea who he was, but it looked like the apocalypse had hit him hard. She winced in sympathy. "Damn. That is bad," she said. "Well, at least there are some people that can sympathize with that. A lot of people had loved ones hurt or business destroyed." She hoped that could make the man a tiny bit better. There were definitely some people that were in the same boat as him.

“Yea, A lot of my guy’s lost a sibling or mom, one lost her wife...just a freakin mess” his food came in and he grabbed it. “Uh, that your order?” It had come about a minute before his.”You wanna sit down? I feel like I’m going to fall over, but I have been told it is very rude to leave a lady in the lurch” he moved to a small booth by the window. He checked to see if she was following and waited for her to decide before moving to the sandwich with the air of a man who hadn’t seen food in a few days, which, he hadn’t.

Man, this guy definitely knew a fair number of people who'd had it rough during the apocalypse. Weiss knew she should consider herself lucky. She was fortunate enough to not have lost anyone she loved. As far as she knew, they'd all made it out okay. Well, maybe not all. She hadn't had a chance to check on Wally yet since the apocalypse had ended. Hopefully, he was okay and hadn't gotten himself hurt. Like always, the thought of Wally gave her a little fluttery feeling in her chest and it took her a moment to realize the man had asked her if she wanted to sit down. She blinked, startled out of her mushy thoughts. "Oh, uh, yeah. Sure," she replied, grabbing her order before following him. That was all the invitation the man needed before attacking his food with much enthusiasm. It looked he hadn't been kidding when he said he hadn't eaten in two days. But, the apocalypse didn't exactly give lunch breaks. She ate her panini for a moment, giving the man a chance to sate some of his appetite first before making more conversation.

He looked at her. “I run an organization fighting for equal rights for Others. All of them. Even the ones people say are menaces to society, even the ones who are afraid of their own powers. Because nobody should be afraid of who or what they are” he finished his sandwich in a few large bites and went onto the soup. “I run demonstrations, let the so inclined make speeches, try to keep the homeless off the streets. So a lot f mine were hit, and hard. Because they couldn’t just leave the city, y’know?” He lasted back into silence and just tried not to burn himself on something so deliciously warm.

"Really? Wow." Weiss was genuinely impressed. This guy had a thankless job, but he seemed so determined to do it. It was pretty much how the selfless leader acted: always trying to better the lives of those around him, no matter how long it took. It almost sounded too good to be true, but Weiss kept that thought to herself. She'd been working on trying not to be so suspicious of strangers and she didn't want to break her streak now. "Maybe all your organization needs is...a little help," she suggested. "I've been thinking about holding some kind of benefit concert to help get money to places that were wrecked and stuff. Maybe your group can benefit from that." Of course, there was the small problem of getting the band's leader back. Yang had updated everyone on Omar's situation, and while it sounded like he was pretty confident that Davie would let him go eventually, who knew when that would happen. So, until then, the Bilge Rats were kind of stuck.

“Help would be good! Some money for the more desperate members to maybe get a cheap apartment, money for food for the shelters, perhaps clothes for the kids and teens” the money would be used for all of this. Getting his people reorganized would be his main goal before the uprising. They needed somewhere safe and food and clothes. Heaven only knew he was the only one trying. “Word on the street is your lead singer up and poofed during the invasion. Is he still around? Will you be singing solo lead? I don’t care either way. I mean, I hope the dude’s okay and all, And all you have to say if he’s ok or not. We can work details later”

The man definitely seemed enthusiastic about Weiss's idea, which certainly pleased her. But he brought up the fact that Omar was MIA, and her face fell. Yang had given all the details since her visit with Omar and Davie, and who knew how long it would take for him to release him. The whole thing made Weiss frightened for Omar's well being. She knew better than anyone how a house could feel like a cage, and how horrible it was to be trapped inside with your jailer. She'd managed to break free from her parents, but Omar doing the same with Davie probably wouldn't be as simple. "He's around," she replied. "He's just...with an old friend who's...very protective of him. We're hoping he sees otherwise soon." She felt like that was the simplest way she could put it without spilling the whole story.

“So what? It’s a crazy ex boyfriend or something? You can shrug for “no comment”. I’ll be fine” he shook his head and sighed. “Tell me when Omar gets out, I would adore organizing a thing with you. How should I repay you though? Like, would it help if we..I dunno, tried to spread the word? I mean, an Other friendly concert and stuff. It’s a big deal, y’know? Most of us ain’t treated so good. So...” he wouldn’t be able to hide his anger if he tried to make it seem he was okay with an Other and Human friendly concert. He sighed. “Can I ask you guys focus on songs of strength? Like...I dunno, Runnin Up That Hill’s a good one. ‘Tell me we all matter, don’t we?’ Is an awesome line. Really makes ya think huh?”

"Something like that," Weiss replied. The man seemed to be okay with no details however, and he was pretty excited to nail out some of the details. "Spreading the word could be good," she said. "I've been thinking about making a social media page, something one Facebook or Twitter." The Internet was the fastest way to plan events these days, and spread the word so more people would come. Heck, Weiss's first concert with the Bilge Rats had been livestreamed and lots of people had logged on for that. The man had an idea for what the theme could be, and it did sound interesting. "I like that," she said. "We can probably get a formal song list out once Omar's back. He'll probably have some ideas too." She kept hoping that if she talked like she knew Omar was coming back for sure, maybe it would actually happen. Yang had said that Omar was sure that Davie would let him out eventually, it was just a matter of when. Weiss hoped it would happen soon.
