Omar was in a haze of memories. He was almost awake but the mosaic of his life kept him from opening his eyes. The memories bled into each other. Lovers morphed into friends into enemies into offspring. Sheep wool tunics and leggings shifted into starched silk brocaded velvet and collars of the Elizabethan era, then into the clothes of now and... ”If you come back I will kill every one you love” he started awake with a panicked cry and looked around, expecting to see the room in Davie’s mansion and see Davie himself, staring at Omar with an unreadable look.
It it took a few minutes for his mind to be reminded of what happened and realize he was in a hospital room. His arms had tubes in them, warm fluid going into his body. He shuddered out a breath and put his head in his hands. He’d almost died then, hadn’t he? Hypothermia. It really wouldn’t have been the worst way to go.

Yang had been the first person to text Weiss, saying that Omar had been found and was at the hospital. His band mates had quickly followed suit. Of course, everyone was happy that he was finally out of Davie's house. But the fact that he'd nearly died of hypothermia had them all worried. If he hadn't been found in time, who knew what might have happened. Weiss had waited a bit before finally deciding to visit him. His family and close friends probably wanted to see him first, and she didn't want to intrude on their time. Still, she promised herself that she wouldn't hesitate too long like when a demon had attacked Elsa. Being there for her had been enough to cheer her up a bit, and Weiss hoped the same could be said for Omar. And just like when she'd visited Elsa, she brought a bouquet of flowers. She still wasn't sure if they actually did any good, but she felt like it was her thing now. Holding the bouquet in her hands, she made her way down the hallway. She still wasn't sure what she would say. She could relate to Omar's situation pretty well. According to Yang, Davie treated him like shit and was pretty controlling of him. Weiss had gone through the same thing with her parents. Maybe that would help him feel better? She found the room he was staying in and knocked softly on his door. "Omar?" she said softly as she opened it.

He heard the door open to his room and scooted away from the door as far as he could, hands shaking. He turned and stared, not quite allowing himself to believe it was Weiss. Just Weiss. He swallowed and nodded to her and the flowers in her hands. “Those are nice. I...maybe you can get a nurse to find a vase and water” he felt numb still, and his voice was dull, even to him. It was different from his old happy calm. He couldn’t bring himself to care. “I know. I’m a fucking hypocrite. Encouraging everyone to be better and still being tied to...to him” he choked on the last bit, feeling intense emotion. It was sorrow and rage but at least it was something. He wrapped his arms around himself. “He was a cancer I wasted seven centuries on. I lost so much, caused so much pain, for him. And I can’t take it back”

Weiss heard a scuffling sound, like a startled cat. She looked to see Omar looking like a deer caught in the headlights, eyes wide, hands shaking. Weiss swallowed. She'd heard Omar had been bad since he'd been found, but she hadn't figured it was this bad. It reminded her too much of how Elsa had been after her demon attack. Omar seemed like a shell of himself, like a leaf that was shaking on a tree branch, two seconds away from being blown away by the wind. Would her being there for him even be enough? She felt like she had no choice but to try. She quietly placed the flowers on a nearby nightstand before sitting in the chair near his bed. "Cancer seems like a choice word to describe him," she commented. "Although Yang mostly referred to him as an asshole." Heck, Yang had called Davie every dirty word in the book while describing the dinner at his place. She glanced up before asking "Has he...done something like this before? Just...kept you at his place for a bit while refusing to let you leave?"

He laughed bitterly. “He kept me in his rooms in the palace of the Unseelie Royal family. He is the Queen’s confidant. I couldn’t leave the rooms, or my rooms, or...” he gulped and shook the thought away. “Weiss, don’t...don’t tell Jane or Namine or...or anyone really. But I was a courtesan. To be used in any way by anyone who asked permission from my master” he leaned back and looked at the ceiling. “I was spy, lover, assassin, nanny, entertainer-in almost every definition-and confidant to over half the Unseelie court. I destroyed so many people, turned a blind eye to the suffering of my own people, my own children, for...for what?” Another bitter, angry laugh. “My oldest was an experiment for the Unseelie King and I watched” he rocked forward and bit his lip. “And for what? He threatened to kill everyone I love if I go back. My whole life I wasted on him. All for NOTHING!”

The Unseelie Royal Family? Damn. Omar was in this deep. If there was one thing about fairies, it was that they were hard to get away from once you were bound to them. And it wasn't just Davie that made him do unspeakable things. It sounded like half the Unseelie Court was in on it. And the details Omar gave painted a very clear picture of how he was treated, and some of the things he had to do. Weiss felt her stomach twist. The way her parents treated her made it look like a walk in the kiddie park compared to what Omar went through. But she knew he didn't want to think of her abuse like that. It didn't matter if others had suffered worse than her, she'd still gone through some pretty difficult things. At the very least, it was helping her understand how Omar was feeling. She reached over and put her hand on top of his as she said "Look, I'm not going to pretend that I understand exactly what you went through. I was never ordered to kill people or...or be a courtesan, or anything like that." She took a breath before continuing. "But I know what it's like to be...hurt by someone who claims to love you. And I know what it feels like to be trapped. You don't have to...go through all that alone. You get what I'm saying?"

He flinched as she wrapped her hand around his, but after a moment moved to hold her hand in his calloused one. “Baby girl, I know. Before you got away from your shitstsin parents I could see me in you. I saw all of my anger and fear. But I had no idea how to go and say “I’m here, and you’re okay. I saw what I might have turned into in Namine. There’s a lot of people I can connect to. It doesn’t change anything I’ve done or how I feel. And at his house? I just...” he swallowed. “Pretty much asked him to kill me. I’m tired Weiss. I feel old. I just want...I dunno. To sleep. For a long long time” he sighed and squeezed her hand gently, gently. “Robin, my oldest, he’s alive somehow. I hope he could forgive me for what I let them do to him”

Weiss was quiet for a moment. No wonder Omar had been nice to her from the get-go. He related to her when he saw how her parents treated her. That was probably why he'd forgiven her so easily as well. He'd known that the way she'd lashed out of at him wasn't how she really was. People who were afraid and hurt all the time just did that. Or, in Omar's case, they just wanted to end it all. Weiss's eyes widened when he said he'd basically asked Davie to kill him. She shook her head as she said "No, no, you can't...you can't do that. You can't just..." She couldn't even say the words. The thought of Omar dead hurt too much to even think about. "There are so many people who care about you, Omar. Your friends, your daughters, Aqua..." She felt her voice rising, but she stopped when she realized that her hand had clenched around Omar's in a death grip. She hurriedly let go, trying to get her emotions under control. If she got upset, it would just make Omar feel worse. He mentioned his oldest kid, Robin, and Weiss realized that she didn't really know that much about him. "You said he was an...experiment for the Unseelie King," she said. "What happened to him after that?"

It didn’t hurt as she held on tighter. Not a lot of pressure actually did, especially from a teenager. He did curl in on himself as her voice raised. “I wouldn’t...I’m not sure if I said it as a challenge because I know he wouldn’t, or if it was to see if he would. I feel so mixed up” he rested his hand on her shoulder and made himself relax. “He uh, has a few names. Robin was the one his mom gave him, River is one the Unseelie King gave him, and he never seemed to prefer one over the other. Um...magic’s become a poison to him. I thought he was dead” Omar’s face was contorted as though in great pain. “Davie knows better than to lie to me though. I know him better than anyone. Got to” he looked at Weiss. “I don’t know how many are alive. Last I checked, five or six. But now I just want to keep everyone safe” he closed his eyes and leaned against the pillow. “But whatever happens, happens”

Weiss let out a breath. Maybe she wouldn't have to put Omar on a suicide watch or something. But he was still obviously depressed by all this. She just hoped she and everyone else who was close to him could pull him out of this. He was obviously afraid that Davie would kill them. And maybe he'd actually try. But Weiss was prepared to do what she could to fight him off if it meant keeping him away from Omar. And she knew his loved ones would say the same, even if the idea of them getting into any kind of danger frightened Omar. "Maybe...we could find him," she suggested. "Robin, I mean. It couldn't hurt to try." Maybe if Robin bared no ill will towards Omar, it would help make him feel a little better. Maybe getting reconnected with some of his kids could pull him out of this funk he was in. If they were willing to be a part of his family again, maybe it would show him that he wasn't a bad father.

“If you could get in and out of the Unseelie Court without experiencing all of the fates worse than death available, or any, I’d say go for it. But no offense. This might be a bit hard. Your safest bet is trying to locate Snapper or Charlotta. Charlie to her friends, charbroiled idiot to her sister Moira” he gave a slight smile. “If you can find Charlie, she can find Snapper. The only person I know who snuck into the courts three different times and wasn’t caught or harmed. But I haven’t seen them in a long time” he shifted to get comfortable. He hated hospital beds. “Did you know, until I was five hundred I couldn’t read or write? I don’t want that for my children, or grandchildren if they are in existence” he spoke with some annoyance, he wanted to be the grandpa now damn it. The dude who could get away with showering toddlers with sweets and toys. “But Weiss, you don’t need to do anything. What will be will he whether I like it or not. So no swearing the details, okay?”

"Sounds like an interesting job for a future Voodoo Queen," Weiss replied with a small smile. A trip in and out of the Unseelie Court without getting hurt or killed or enslaved would be a challenge. But Weiss had never been one to run away from a problem when it seemed too hard. Charlie and Snapper sounded like interesting characters. If they could provide some help, it would make the whole trip a little less stressful. Maybe Weiss could get some backup, like Aqua or Yang. Having someone along might make things a little less dangerous. She tucked the idea away for later though. Right now, she just wanted to focus on Omar right here and now. "But I want to," she protested. "I mean, that's what friends are for, aren't they?"

He stared at her. “You and your brother, and Sunshine and several others are doubtless being watched to kidnap. You’re all very pretty and very talented and do you really want to do their job for them? We are friends. And friends don’t convince friends to sell themselves into slavery, so for the sake of sanity please don’t go. Not you, not anyone the courts might want” he paused. “Which is everyone I know. Weiss, forget I said anything. I don’t want anything else on my conscience for the time being” and sending her to enslavement would haunt him.

"Being someone's slave is the last thing I have in mind," Weiss replied. After leaving home, she swore to herself that she'd never let herself become imprisoned again. She wasn't going to be a caged bird or a shiny new toy anymore. Omar still seemed deathly afraid that something would happen to her though, or anyone he cared about for that matter. Weiss understood why, but wasn't a little risk worth it if it meant finding one of Omar's kids? Who knew, maybe she could even find out something that might set him free from Davie. "Listen, I'm not gonna go into a reckless charge or just dive in without thinking. You know I'm not like that," she said, trying to get him to understand. "But if me, or Yang, or Aqua, or anyone wants to help you, or fights to protect you, it's because we want to, not because we have to. I know you want to protect us, but we want to protect you too, and help you. Can't we at least do that?"

He hesitated and then laughed bitterly. “You aren’t the first. But they’re all dead or currently being used as science experiments so” he sighed softly and shrugged. “I guessing you really wanna try though, I could give some tips. To infiltrate you gotta look like you belong. You are undeniably human. You’re going to need to find someone willing to playact master to you. And go with it. They’re also going to need to establish your role. Serving Wench with no chance of being a booty call? There are charms to tell them that” he stared her right in the eyes. “On top of that you can’t let the royals get interested. They will never let you go, alright?”
