Yang nodded. "Yup. We're pretty tight." She handed Namine back her notebook. "So, what are your friends like?" she asked. Given Namine's shy nature, she may not have any, but Yang could be wrong. Maybe Namine's friends were quiet like she was. That sometimes happened. People tended to seek out friends that had the same personalities as they did. Of course, that "opposites attract" thing happened too, but usually, people liked hanging out with others that were like them.

"O-Oh, um, I don't really... I a-always have lots of work to do," Namine tried explaining away. She didn't have much of a social life. It mostly consisted of her getting up, going to work, sketching what needed sketching, maybe hitting up the café on her days off, and going back home. Wash, rinse, repeat. The cycle was safe and predictable. Aside from these past few days where she ran into more and more people than usual.

"Oh." It looked like Yang figuring that Namine had at least one friend had been wrong. She kind of felt sorry for her. Everybody deserved a friend. She took another bite of her muffin and sip from her cappuccino before continuing. "Well, you got me. That's plus one friend right there." She gave a smile. She hoped Namine would consider her a friend. Sure, she was quiet, but she seemed nice, and her artwork was pretty good. Maybe she and Omar could help her loosen up a little bit. In a semi-quiet place, of course. Yang wasn't about to try and bring her to a rock concert. But maybe somewhere a little more chill, like the park or some shops. Those were nice places to break the ice a little bit and get her to open up, hopefully.

Namine couldn't help the soft gasp that escaped her lips. She hadn't really had many friends and for this stranger to declare they were friends was surprising to say the least. It seemed like words completely escaped her. Her mind was reeling, trying to think of something to say, a way to respond to that declaration. Realizing that she was probably gaping like a fish, she smartly shut her mouth and smiled back. "O-Okay. Friends." she agreed, certainly not going to turn this one down.

Namine seemed very surprised by Yang's declaration that the two of them were friends. But she accepted it nevertheless, which made Yang happy. She gave a smile before asking "So, besides sketching stuff, what else do you do?" She took another bite of her muffin.

"F-Freelance work," Namine murmured. "With the BPD and c-commissions, like the one for Omar." She glanced down nervously. A lot of people hated the police force, but Namine knew they tried hard to be fair and just. She also had her reasons for working for them. They had saved her when she needed it the most and ultimately, felt like she owed a little bit to the police force that got her out of a bad situation. "W-What about you?"

Yang was quiet for a moment as she thought. Usually, she liked to stay as far away from the police as possible. But, Namine just seemed to work for them occasionally, so there was probably no harm in hanging out with her. Although she felt like she shouldn't let on too much about her living situation. The last thing she needed was cops busting in on her hideout and trying to get her some guardians or something. That was the last thing she wanted. "Oh, just usual stuff, trying to make a living and feed all the hungry mouths at home," she replied. "I'm pretty good at kickboxing, so I try to use those skills whenever possible to get some cash." The most common method Yang found were the underground fights going on. Yang had gotten pretty good at those and could compete with guys that were twice her age and size. Most of her friends thought that was pretty dangerous, but Yang actually liked it. And if she could do what she loved and make a little money while doing it, then why not?

"O-Oh," Namine breathed. She wasn't particularly keen on violence. It had to do with her home life prior to being saved by the BPD. But then she realized Yang said hungry mouths. "D-Do you have siblings?" she asked. That might just be a loaded question. Parents and family were always hard to ask about in this town. Lots of people had plenty of bad things happen to them.

Yang thought for a moment before she answered. "Well, in a way. I look after kids, but they're not related to me by blood. But I guess I'm sort of like a big sister to them. Or a mom, depending on how you look at it." She felt like "mother" was a more appropriate way of describing her relationship with the kids she looked after. She made sure they were well-fed, had a warm place to sleep, had clothes that fit them. That was all the things a mother did, so wasn't she one too, in a way?

Namine wasn't too surprised. A lot of people looked after people who weren't technically their problem to look out for. Omar had been one of them. Walking a strange girl home, when he obviously lived out of the way. He could have just kept on walking and left Namine to her own devices, but he stopped, went out of his way for her with a smile even. It surprised her that there were still people out there who cared about anyone other than themselves. "That's r-really nice of you," Namine said softly.

Yang shrugged. "Eh, it is what it is. If I didn't take care of them, they would end up dead in a ditch or something. With all the crazy cooks running around, it seems like this city is getting more dangerous all the time." It seemed like every so often, a new criminal ring or serial killer showed up. Yang wasn't scared of them, she was just worried about what would happen if they stumbled upon someone who couldn't defend themselves as well as she could. Like Namine, for example. She probably wouldn't last five minutes.

Namine flinched over Yang's wording. Her mind already drifting to a particular case involving poor little children. She violently shook her head, trying to escape the faces of the children she had to re-draw for identification. It made her wonder how old Yang was. To have taken on this burden for herself when no one else seemed to care. With orphanages packed with children there were twice as many street kids. She hoped Yang wasn't one of them. "J-Just be careful." Namine insisted. "D-Don't leave them alone."

Yang nodded. "Don't you worry. I've got them somewhere safe and sound," she replied. "And if anyone tries messing with 'em, they'll be receiving a knuckle sandwich from me personally." She gave a grin as she flexed her arm, which had a decent amount of muscle on it.

It didn't exactly make Namine feel better. She didn't want anyone to get hurt but really what choice was there these days? So she nodded slowly and went back to picking at crumbs off her plate. "Okay," she murmured, hating the fact she couldn't talk much more about her job without getting in trouble

Yang wasn't sure if Namine was convinced. She still seemed a bit worried. But before Yang could add anything more, she happened to glance at her watch and notice what time it was. "Shit. I lost track of time," she said. "I gotta run." She finished off the rest of her coffee in one gulp. "It was nice talking to you. Maybe I'll see you later?" Namine was nice, and she looked a bit lonely. If Yang could cheer her up by spending time with her, then she was going to do it.
