It was a nice day. She had finished her work at the station early, so Namine decided to go to the cafe and get started on her commission. After doing all of her research for it, she decided to treat herself to something sweet as a reward. She was lost in her sketch book, absentmindedly nibbling on a cookie as she drew, trying to get the best feel for this art commission. She was lost in her own little world as she worked, absolutely lost to the world around her. If there was one thing Namine excelled in, it was her art. It was her pride and joy. She put her entire being into her work. It showed in each drawing she made.

While Yang tended to go to this coffee house with friends, considering that they had money on them more often than not, she actually managed to get enough cash to treat herself to something. Sure, it had been acquired by working outside of the rules, but when you were living on the streets, that's what you had to do. Some might think Yang stubborn for trying to keep this lifestyle going, and they were right. She just kept chugging away at it because she refused to live any other way. But, she pushed thoughts like that aside as she strolled into the coffee house. After getting a cappuccino and the biggest blueberry muffin available, Yang looked around for a place to sit. Most of the faces here were familiar. Living on the streets tended to make you familiar with almost everybody in the city. But, there was one face Yang didn't recognize. A young woman was sitting by herself, nibbling on a cookie while she sketched something in a notebook. She seemed the quiet type, but that didn't stop Yang from walking over with a confident smile on her face and saying "Hey there. Is this seat taken?" She nodded towards the empty chair across from the woman.

Namine jolted out of her work, nearly smearing the paper with the graphite that stained her hand. Wide eyes looked up. She blinked rather owlishly at the other blonde who stood by her table. Under normal circumstances, Namine would have swallowed her tongue, been unable to speak, but after her last encounter with someone who looked intimidating, but really wasn't, she felt she should probably give this woman the benefit of the doubt. "N-No," she said softly. She picked up a few of her things to give her some space to join her at the little table. Shame about this place was, that it was popular, so finding a spot to sit was hard. Unless you got here early like Namine did.

The woman responded a bit meekly, almost reminding Yang of a mouse. But she was nice at least, so that was a plus. Yang wondered if she had always been that way or if something had happened. Sometimes, when she found kids that were shy, she found out that something bad had happened to them to make them act like that, like their parents dying in front of them or seeing their home go down in flames. But, Yang wasn't about to pry. People asked her often enough about her past, she didn't need to go around doing the same thing to others. "My name's Yang," she said, giving another friendly smile. "What's yours?"

"O-Oh, um, my name is Namine," she murmured softly. She shyly glanced up at the other woman, trying to give her what she hoped was a pleasant smile. Despite her more tentative ways, Namine was happy to have some company. After she could not hold Yang's gaze any longer she looked back down at her paper - a commission for an album cover for Omar. The man who walked her home after he caught her out late at night. "It's nice to me-meet you."

Namine...that was a pretty name. Some people might have found it strange, but in a city like Bellerouge, strange was kind of the norm. After all, half of its citizens weren't entirely human. "Nice to meet you too," Yang said in reply before taking a huge bit of her muffin. It tasted so good, and it was a hell of a lot better than dumpster diving. When she glanced up though, she noticed that the woman's notebook seemed to have a drawing inside. "So, you an artist or something?" she asked with her mouth half full.

Namine bit her lip. "Or something," she mumbled softly. "I um, I'm not very good." She felt that her sketches were moderate at best. It was enough for her line of work, but she hadn't gone to great lengths to keep up commission work or follow her own drawing inspirations after college. She just wanted to work for the police force that had saved her from her awful father. She smiled a bit uncertainly. As her nerves kicked in, she began to fiddle with her pencil.

"Oh come on, I'm sure you're not that bad," Yang said before swallowing. "All I can draw are stick figures. And maybe one of those Ying Yang things." She glanced at Namine's sketchbook one more time before asking "You mind if I look?" She was rather curious about what Namine was working on. It might be something cool.

"If you want," Namine said. She gripped the sketch pad tight before slowly offering it over the table to Yang. She was used to showing people her work. She never really got much in the means of feedback when it came to her co-workers other than a few people thanking her before whisking off to catch the guy she had drawn out. She just hoped that if Yang didn't like them, she didn't take it out on her sketch pad. "I-I'm working on a c-commission for an album cover." she mumbled softly. She wasn't quite sure if she got the band's motif right or if she got the feel of what they wanted to go for, but she was making multiple covers, so that Omar could pick and choose.

Yang got a closer look at the picture, and the first thing that caught her eye was Omar's band logo. "Wait, your designing this for Omar?" she asked. Omar was a pretty good friend of hers. They hadn't exactly shared deep stuff with each other, but they enjoyed each other's company, and going to one of Omar's gigs was a good way for Yang to wind down. Not to mention, both of them had a habit of getting into fights. "Dude, I know that guy. He's one of my best buds," she said. "I think he's gonna like this."

"I-I don't really know him well," Namine said hurriedly. "He walked me home." It was her fault for being out late. She wanted to thank him somehow since she had been so terrified and so suspicious of him to start with. "Do you really think he'll like it?" she asked softly. She wanted to believe he would, but she didn't venture much outside of criminal sketches these days. This was a leap of faith for her in her own skills, which she hadn't used for anyone but the police since she graduated school.

Omar walked Namine home? That was nice of him. Yang wondered about the details of them meeting. Had they just happened to bump into each other or what? She would have to ask Omar next time she saw him. She nodded enthusiastically. "Oh yeah. This is totally him," she said. "He's been into the heavy rock/metal scene ever since I met him."

"I don't really l-listen to metal." Namine admitted. Loud noises made her jumpy, or rather jumpier than she usually was, which was saying something considering that most everything had her shaking. She bit her lip a little harder, worrying the skin. "How did you meet him?" she asked. "Um! If that's okay!" She hastily tacked on the last bit, considering how some people had some parts of their past they really didn't want to talk about.

Yang shrugged nonchalantly. She knew the metal scene wasn't for everyone. She could understand why someone like Namine wouldn't be into it. Jumpy, timid people probably wouldn't fair well at a big rock concert. "Hey, no worries," she said, trying to put Namine at ease. "I met him some time ago when he was performing at a bar. I met up with him afterwards, we got some food together, and we started hanging out with each other after that." Yang and Omar's friendship had developed pretty naturally, but Yang felt like what really cemented it together was them helping some of the kids out on the street that couldn't take care of themselves, for one reason or another. If Omar found any, he usually directed them to Yang, who took them in and made sure they got food and a warm place to sleep.

Namine gave Yang a small smile. She was glad that Yang wasn't going to kick up a fuss about Namine's taste in music or lack of similar tastes. She just didn't like to set up her nerves for something she knew she couldn't handle. From what Yang was saying about Omar, it seemed he was much nicer than she had first thought. She felt a pang of guilt for assuming the worst of him. But he had been some stranger, offering to take her home in the dark of the night. She wasn't sure what other assumption she should have made about him. "S-Sounds like you get along," she said.
