If only Yang knew, Jane thought to herself. But the reassurance, though misplaced, was nice. Yang, the rather rambunctious blonde that she was, took Jane and yanked her along. She seemed to know just how to weave them both through the crowds and before she knew it, Jane was with Yang, standing before Omar and his crew. She could feel her blood pulsing in her ears and she felt like her mouth had been stuffed with cotton. At this point she felt so faint she might pass out. Was that possible? Fainting because she was scared?
"M-My name is Jane," she squeaked.

Yang grinned as Omar high-fived her. He looked at Jane curiously for a moment, almost as if he knew her. But that couldn't be right. This was Jane's first time meeting him, wasn't it? She looked at her friend, whose introduction came out as a nervous squeak. "She told me she wanted to see your band, so I figured I'd bring her backstage," Yang explained. "She was super excited to meet you." Although, to be honest, Jane seemed more anxious than excited. Was she really that nervous about meeting her idol? Yang wondered if she should get her some water or something.

Omar blinked. He resisted the urge to grab the girl and look at her closely. "Jane? Last name! I need your last name!" he said desperately. "I knew a Jane but that was ten years ago. Are you....are you my Jane?" Was this his daughter? she looked so familiar and now that he looked at her she did look a bit like Cindy. The same big blue eyes, the same nose... but where had she been and why had she come back now? This had to be a trick. But it was a really mean one if it was. He looked helplessly at Yang. He would buy her the biggest steak money could buy if this was his daughter.

"Jane LaRue," she breathed. She then broke into a nervous laugh as a wave of emotion crashed over her. "You used to sing to me and Mikey. My favorite song was Little Sister Sunshine."
Her hands twisted at her sides, helplessly smoothing over the skin of the back of her hands for the lack of anything better to do. So much for her courage from earlier. What she wouldn't give for a dose of it right now when she needed it most because she still felt like her heart was going to beat right out of her chest.
"I think I-I'm your Jane." she said softly

Yang blinked in surprise at Omar's reaction. His Jane? What exactly did that mean? She glanced back and forth between the two. Now that she thought about it...they did seem to look a bit alike... "Hold on, hold on, wait a second," Yang said. "You two are related?" Her hands crossed over each other as she pointed to Omar and Jane. Hadn't Omar lost his family during the war or something? She was very confused.

"Jane. My little Jane" he breathed, his heart thundering in his ears. After ten years she'd found him. He held up a hand though. He had to know some things. "Why didn't you come find me that night? Why didn't you track me down sooner? Where were you? Do you realize how broken I've been without you? You-You're all I have, Janie. I needed you" His voice was getting choked up and he put a fist to his mouth to cut back the tears and sobs that were threatening to overtake him. "And you needed your dad. Where were you?" Oh she looked so much like Cindy all grown up. It was almost too much for him. "Y-Yang, this is Jane. I lost her during the war. I...I thought she must have died"

Jane laughed again but this time a tear streaked down her cheek. She started to reach out to him but he was crying too. Her hands stopped mid-air and curled shut. She didn't know if he wanted to be hugged. She cast a desperate look to Yang. The poor blonde was just there for the ride at this point, but she knew Omar better than Jane did. Perhaps she knew how to help him?
"I tried. Please, you have to believe me," she said. "But a police officer picked me up that night. He took me to the station a-and he put me in foster care."
Without checking to see if she had family alive. The officer had refused to listen to the scared, filthy little nine year old begging for her dad, crying and kicking up a fuss as she was loaded back up into the back of a squad car and carted away from the city for ten long years. All of that done without even trying to find out why she was out on the streets on her own.

"Whaaaaat?" That was the only reaction Yang could give. Jane was Omar's daughter? For a moment, she was going to say that was impossible because Omar and Jane looked about the same age. Then, she remembered that Omar was a lot older than he looked, definitely old enough to have had a child. Yang's eyes went wide as she remembered how Jane had been so nervous tonight. It made sense now. She hadn't been some fangirl nervous about meeting her favorite rock star. She had been a daughter, anxious about reuniting with her father! "Oh jeez, I called you a fangirl of his," she muttered, face-palming. That was a little embarrassing. That was almost like shipping them together or something. She turned red, suddenly feeling a bit dirty. But any embarrassed feelings were put to the side when she saw that Jane and Omar were nearly crying. It was actually kind of heart-warming, although they seemed at a bit of a loss of what to do. And they both seemed to be looking to her. Yang blinked, realizing that as of right now, she knew Jane and Omar better than they knew each other. She didn't know how to feel about that. She cleared her throat before speaking. "So, are you two gonna hug it our or what?" she asked. Tearful reunions always warranted hugs, right? At least, that was how it happened in the movies.

Omar smiled at Yang's reaction and wiped his eyes. "I...I lost her ten years ago at the start of the war" His lips thinned when Jane told him her story and his fists clenched. "See, this is why I hate the police" He said angrily. "They are absolutely useless and never listen! I've been trying to push-push the finding out about Your mom's and brother's murders for years but they called it a cold case. I've been begging them to find you or your body but they always told me to leave it alone" His lips curled into a quiet snarl. "I want that officer's name and badge" He said quietly, with venom. He hesitated but at Yang's suggestion he looked at Jane. "Do...you want a hug?" He asked uncertainly.

All of her anger towards the police for taking her away from her one true home was wiped away when Omar asked if he could hug her. They could rant about how useless the police could be sometimes after she was done catching up with him. She didn't respond, well, not with words. She quickly wrapped her arms around her, burying her face into his shoulder. Yang was right. Things did turn out okay after all. Her eyes screwed shut, trying to fight back more tears. Ten years... She had waited for so long...

Yang scowled. As if she needed more evidence that most of the police force was shit. It was thanks to them that Omar and Jane had been apart all these years. But, some of the bitterness in the air was washed away when Jane embraced Omar. Yang practically grinned from ear to ear. It made her happy, to see one of her oldest friends reunited with someone they cared about. She hoped things would work out with them. Sure, Omar wasn't there for a lot of Jane's milestones, but they could still build a relationship. They had all the time in the world now. "Oh, I'm so happy for you guys!" she exclaimed happily.

Omar hugged his daughter for the first time since she was nine years old. He had missed everything important in her growing up ,really. But he could still be here for her whenever she needed him. He squeezed his eyes shut and held her tightly as tears leaked down his face. "Oh, I've missed you so much sweetie" He whispered, not sure if she even wanted to be called sweetie by him. He smiled over at Yang. "I owe you the biggest steak you can eat" He said hoarsely.

"I missed you so much dad," she told him.
Jane screwed her eyes shut and held Omar tightly, as if she were afraid he would vanish if she let go. She was almost afraid to at this point. Ten years, even to an immortal could be a long time or it could be a blink of the eye, it all depended on how that time was spent. She was just happy things turned out for the best. If Omar has rejected her, Jane might not gave coped well.
"Don't tell her that!" Jane laughed. "I already promised Yang dinner!"

Jane and Omar seemed pretty insistent that they thank Yang in some way. She was almost taken aback by it. Had she really done that much? Jane probably would have found Omar eventually, even if she hadn't stepped in to help. But, free food wasn't something she could turn down. "People, really, there's no need to fight over me," she joked. "Although I'm sure my kids wouldn't mind getting something to eat either." Jane and Omar could probably buy enough food to feed her and the two kids she was looking after for a few days, especially with restaurants' big portion sizes these days.

"I missed you every day sweetie" He choked up again when she called him dad and held her more tightly. He supposed this looked odd, two people who appeared around the same age embracing and crying like this .It would be different if she was still a little girl, but he couldn't focus on that. It was what it was. At least he could be part of her life now. "You have no idea what you've done for me-us. Thanks Yang" He mumbled. He let go of Jane and wiped his eyes. "I'm going to be grateful to you forever, you know that right? For bringing Jane here to me" Trolls had long memories and Omar wouldn't be soon forgetting this kindness. "he looked over at Jane again. "I suppose you have a place to stay?" She was a grown woman after all. But he still wouldn't mind letting her stay at his place if she needed it.
