After making her way back to the city, finding her way home and reuniting with her father. Jane took to visiting the park often. She used to play there when she was a kid. She might not have been able to play like the kids did, but she did sit on the swings and sway back and forth. It was nice, just to sit and relax.

Sunshine had her sketch pad out, flipping through her artwork. It was so funny how over the years, her work had gone from lines and spirals to elaborate shapes with subliminal images. She was on a swing, digging her bare feet - she had kicked off her sandals, which were lazily thrown aside - into the mulch beneath them. The swing beside was squeaking, meaning someone else had joined her nearby. She gave a semi smile and a small wave to the brunette.

To Jane's surprise, another young adult woman sat down not too far where she sat. The woman waved at her. Jane hesitantly waved back. It was a little strange to have someone be so openly friendly, but it couldn't hurt to at be polite. So she smiled. It wasn't like she was going to meet everyone she did in the bars her father played or on the streets like she did with Yang.
"Hello," Jane greeted.

"Good to know I'm not the only one taking advantage on the better day," Sunshine commented. Her entire body felt alive as the beams from the sun were pulsing down. Even better, her hair didn't feel so heavy like it normally did. Maybe it was because the sun was at such a high angle, maybe it was the lack of humidity, maybe it was the popularity of her and Shadow about the La Llorona case was finally coming to a close. All that mattered was it was the freest Sunshine felt in a long time.

"I have loads of free time," Jane said. Classes hadn't started back up yet for her. She probably should have been getting some sleep since she was falling into the more nocturnal patterns of trolls, but she also adored the fresh and open air of the day. So her sleep schedule would be a little screwed up. When wasn't it bothered by the trials of being what she was. The day was nice and warm. There was a gentle breeze. Not bad considering it was the middle of summer. Normally it was so hot she felt she was going to melt.

"Finally, someone with time," Sunshine sread her arms wide. When she did, her pen and pad went flying in opposite directions. Thankfully, all they did was land with a simple thud. "Oops," she grinned before pushing herself off the swing and grabbing her things, her blonde hair rippling like a yellow waterfall behind her When the lgith caught it, it gave the optic-LED-glowiness the Seddon family was known for, before relaxing back to its natural golden blonde. Sunshine tucked a strand back, leaning her art supplied against the swing's support

Jane laughed a little when the blonde's things went flying in her sheer exuberance. She was at all like the other people Jane knew who were as rough and tough inside as they were outside. This woman seemed so dainty and sweet that it was hard to believe she was in a city like this. Jane almost expected an escort or something to follow the long haired woman around, to keep her safe.
"I just moved back into the city," Jane explained. "I'm Jane by the way. Jane LaRue."

"Rachel Seddon, but my friends call me Sunshine," the artist slash baker slash cop answered Jane. The brunette was about her age, and the air of reservedness hung heavily around. Her instincts were quietly hinting at Jane hiding something, especially since she had been gone from Bellerouge, but her training as a cop told her not to turn an interrogation into a straight up Q and A. Heck, why was Sunshine applying cop logic to a generic meeting a stranger. She shook the thought aside, asking, "So...where were you before you came to Bellerouge?"

"Foster care." Jane replied. "Long story. Not a happy one either. But it's the past. I finally came back and I found my dad. My real dad."
The only person that Jane had actually strove to meet. Her father had been overjoyed to see her again. It was all thanks to Yang too. She owed the blonde street mom a lot. Jane held a lot of bitterness towards the police for just sticking her in foster care without even checking to see if she had living relatives. After the murder of her mother and brother during the height of the war, the officer thought he was doing her a favor by getting her out of the city. Yeah right. Jane didn't want to ruin a good conversation.
"Getting all settled in. I used to play here when I was little," she told Sunshine. "It hasn't really changed much."

"Oh."
And here Sunshine thought it was all about going away to school or for a business. A little patter of guilt went through her heart. Foster care was a gray area in her experience. Some agents were willing to listen while others were stubborn be it for greedy means for misguided "Samaritan" acts.
"Are you living with your dad?" Sunshine asked. "I stayed with my parents until my stepdad and mom got enough to settle me in."

"Well, not really." she said. "I got my own place before coming here. I didn't expect to find him so quickly."
Plus, she wasn't sure if he even wanted her to live with him. They barely knew each other anymore. They weren't the same people as they were when they were separated. She wasn't a little girl. He wasn't the young father. She was a young adult. He was the grieving musician. He had his band to worry about and she was going to college - something he was quite proud of her for doing. Said her mother would have liked that she continued her education.
"It shocked the both of us."

"And where'd you find a spot? Leasing has been tricky as of late. I got lucky and have a loft in the French Quarter. Quick trolley ride to work, and my partner picks me up for job two."
The thing with working with Shadow, with his speed and strength, there was hardly a need for a car. She drove one on the job with him running next to her or on the other side if he didn't feel like speeding through traffic. Besides, talking about locations made the conversation less awkward since parents were out of the picture.

"Oh, I'm in the French Quarter too. I didn't seem to have too much of a hard time, really I'm just renting a room from this old lady. She needed a little extra after her kids moved out." Jane explained.
She paused when Sunshine mentioned having a partner. What was her line of work if she needed a partner? Did she mean romantic partner? Jane was curious but not willing to push Sunshine too far to sate that curiosity. She shrugged it off and went back to swinging a little in her seat. At least they shared the whole use of public transit.
"It is nice not needing a car." Jane said. "I don't really like driving too much."

"Oh, cool!" Sunshine beamed. She herself didn't have a landlady, with lease being provided by her stepbrother who had owned it previously. They were temporary roommates until Thomas found his own apartment in Riverfront.
"Don't get me started on traffic. The thing with being stuck between two of Louisiana's greatest cities, cars on either freeway. One to Baton Rouge, the other to New Orleans, it's a mess. Stresses me out just thinking about it," she massaged the temples of her head, as if trying to block every Other based accident she and Shadow had to check out and the annoyance of rush hour

"Ew. So glad I don't have a car now." Jane said with a wrinkle of her nose and a laugh. Besides, a city like this, everything was within walking distance. That was something she really enjoyed about this city, not to mention how many interesting people she got to meet. Sunshine was just another interesting person. "So I take it you drive a lot?"
