It wasn't hard getting cops there. He paid a homeless man with food and a warm coat to use a burner phone that Chat had. It was bought with cash and untraceable to Char himself because he paid someone else to buy it. All that to keep the police off his backs and good thing was money talks. He paid those two quite well to never mention him ever. They only saw him as Chat anyways. But as for his homeless man, Char instructed the man to call the police, say he saw a shifty character climbing up the side of the building and to leave the area after that. It went over quite well. The warehouse was where Vanitas was coming in and out of recently.
Chat stood on the roof top of an abandoned warehouse waiting for the cop car to pull up. Finding Vanitas' base of operations had been harder. Much harder. But if there was one thing Chat had going for him it was resources. He could get just about anything he wanted and no one would ask any questions. For all anyone knew, Adrien's interest in the warehouse would be to buy it and use it for the family fashion line as a production facility. Which he would probably end up doing anyways. It brought jobs to the area.
The blond sighed. Which officer would be his 'backup'? He could hope for Sunshine but with Sunshine came Shadow. Like light and dark. He preferred light to dark. But that was just him. Then again, Sunshine was less than amused with him so maybe he ought to tune it down.

Unfortunately for Chat, dividing and conquering was what the way the divvying teams went. Shadow and Sunshine had been wrapping up loose ends when a call from an anonymous person sent them directing. Sunshine said she would handle the arresting part if Shadow met Chat. It worked for both sides. The black hedgehog sped down the streets of Garcon Perdu, the rushing noise of wind and roar of his jets pushing back and forth drowning out catcalls from prostitutes or arguments over drugs. He woudl deal with drug cartells later. Right now, he had to answer this call.
He paused at an alleyway, glancing around at a disturbed pile of trash. Someone had recently been here. He stirred the dust around, catching the mark of a boot. A well-made one, in fact. Something came from above. A aigh. Whoever summoned him was up there.
Shadow took a breath, backed up towards the wall to two adjacent walls, and somersaulted forward. His feet met brick, and he flipped again. This continued until he reach the top of a warehouse.
"So, you're after him, too?" He said this casually to Chat.

"What can I say?" Chat shrugged. "I don't like bullies."
Of all the officers, it just had to be Shadow. Chat knew he had the worst luck but this was killing it. He knew Shadow disliked him, and he didn't need to add to that. So much for a working partnership with the police that he had hoped for. Oh well, he could still make this work. He had to make this work actually. Besides, he didn't want Sunshine in danger any more than Shadow did, police officer or not.
"Care to follow my lead, officer? I'll be your warrant this evening." Chat said with a grand bow.

"Before we leap into action," Shadiw reached into his holster. The edge moved slightly, but instead of a gun, he pulled out..the satchel with the Siren's Tear. He tossed it over, explaining,
"We had a deal. Everything you said was true; took us a while to get a warrant on the bank account. Sunshine and a few others are off to escort Curator Scumbag to a penthouse suite in Angola. Now you can return it to its rightful owners like you planned."
"But anyways," he changed the topic. He narrowed his eyes at the warehouse. Part of him wished the door he had marred with a chaos spear was still there. Of course, it had to be painted over, "lead ahead. I have Sunshine on speed dial to update her on our locations. She'll catch us."

Chat blinked in surprise as he was tossed over a small bag. He paused to check. The Siren's Tear was nestled safely inside. Now he felt bad for his plans to raid the police evidence vault. Not that they had to know about those plans. They were unnecessary after all. He slung the bag over his shoulder, keeping it as close to his body as he could. Couldn't lose it now.
"Thanks," Chat said.
It was surprisingly uncharacteristic of Shadow. He wondered if Sunshine had a hand in it, but Shadow had been the one to deliver, so maybe there was hope for the two officers after all. Chat nodded and gestured for Shadow to follow him. Whereas Shadow stood on the good of the law, Chat did not, even if his intentions were good. Therefore, the only way that Shadow could get good, usable concrete evidence against Vanitas, is if he had a reason to go into the warehouse. Hence the call that Chat staged. Shadow and Sunshine had their reason - aka Chat Noir to chase.
"Let's make sure the coast is clear before we call her. I don't want to see her get hurt," Chat admitted. "But I guess you feel the same, right?"
Chat knelt down and unlocked the door for them before stepping inside.

Shadow clenched his fist tightly. Doing this held back any yelling or cursing that he would have loved to shout out to Chat. But two things stopped him from doing it, and he hated admitting one of them.
That Chat was right.
Shadow didn't want Sunshine to get hurt at all. She had been through enough. She had vampires harass her, a tech officer treat her like shit, prostitutes chewing her out on her very first case and making her cry - ironically that very same hooker was now a member of the force - and had been through so much without knowing anything about Others that she could have passed out.
The second? Yelling would have taken away the element of surprise. He leapt after Chat, a hand on his holster in case of an assault.

Chat would have to tease Shadow later. They had a heist to pull off. He crept slowly into the room, using almost every skill he had learned in his time sneaking in and out of the Agreste Mansion as he did. He tested the floorboards, not stepping when he heard the slightest of sounds, instead moving his foot somewhere else and only when he deemed it noiseless, he moved. It was difficult, considering the floorboards were rotten, there was trash and garbage everywhere and he had a cop right behind him who wasn't as careful as he was.
He paused when he saw a light at the end of the hallway. His could have used his claws but opted not to. His power was dangerous. He knew this, especially showing it off in front of a cop. Instead he grabbed a baton, extending it so he had a full length staff. He then slipped towards the light, hiding behind a crate. No need to ruin the element of surprise if they had it.

Shadow had to give Chat credit; the kid knew what he was doing. The rotting wood not only gave a distinct suit odor, but it creaked if stepped improperly. He followed Chat's movements, keeping his eyes open for anything suspicious. Of course, the only light was the filtering aura of distant street lamps, and the sliver in the door. This wasn't the first time this had happened when investigating Vanitas's lair. He still shuddered at remembering the time he and Ralph literally got flushed into the sewer when they were caught.
He ducked by the crates on the opposite side of the door Chat was eyeing. His hand never left his gun, but he was ready to shoot his arsenal of beryl when the time came

Chat slowly used his staff to wedge the door open. He couldn't see Vanitas, but they were going to have to be quick. He looked over at Shadow, silently trying to convey that he was going to push the door open. If Vanitas was in there, they were going to have to be quick about it. This was the thrill that Chat could see that attracted officers to police work. He preferred the thrill he got at nearly getting caught for his heists, but to each their own. He could tell himself this was just like a heist.
He signaled again, showing Shadow three fingers. Two. One. The door was pushed ajar and he vaulted over his crate, into the room, staff at the ready. He didn't stop to see if Shadow kept up. He was sure the officer did. Shadow was faster than Chat could ever hope to be after all.

Shadow's responses to Chat's movements were curt nods. The kid knew subtly was the key. That and s staff was a useful weapon to have. It played both offense and defense. The door was wedged open, and the black hedgehog dashed after him. Not the supersonic speed he channeled, but enough to keep up.
The room they entered was lit by a naked bulb. In the light were boxes stacked high on top of one another. An unknown name was stamped on one side.
"...Sapien?"

Vanitas was nowhere to be seen. However the giant stash of drugs was another story entirely. Chat looked around in absolute disbelief. After all his digging, he did not find this. He knew this was where Vanitas had been doing something. He knew the demon had been rather sketchy about this area and constantly making sure he wasn't being followed but this? This was out of Chat's element. It didn't look like this was where the stuff was being made, but it did make Vanitas look like a seller of the product.
"Sapien?" Chat asked in muted horror. "I didn't know this stuff would be here."

"I didn't think he showed interest," Shadow mused. "This is a relatively new drug."
Sapien was, to an interogatee, a drug that was taken with liquid. The effects were meant to tone down Other senses. In other words, vampires would lose their bloodlust and could walk in the sun without burning. It lasted, at longest, 48 hours. But maybe that was why the demon was showing interest. If used properly, Any enemies of his would be worn down

Chat leaned his staff up against a crate. He pulled a pair of rubber gloves out of a pouch on his side. The gloves were latex, to avoid finger prints in case Vanitas came back. He walked over to the desk and started to look through it. Papers, recipes for places to eat, seems the demon never cooked for himself based on the take out boxes in the trash. Chat frowned.
"Let's see if we can't find out where our Dark Lord went." Chat muttered.
He tried the desk drawer, surprised when he found it wouldn't give. He then knelt down to examine it. A lock. That was always promising. And all the better for Shadow that he was there because he doubted that the officer could break into the locked drawer without leaving some sort of evidence behind. So he started to work his lock picks into the lock.

While Chat was investigating the desk, Shadow went to the second place for clues; the trash can. The underlooked places were often where the biggest clues were. Yes, it was disgusting looking at caked on cheese, crumple wrappers, and the smell of soda left outside for too long, but it would lead somewhere. He picked up a crumbed cup. Too old.
The second dive was from another cup. The mustard stain was fresh, smearing and dripping just from the detective looking at it.
"This cup is two hours old at least," he mumbled. As he was bagging the evidence, a sound outside caused him to prick his ears. The sound of tires on road. Crap. If that were Vanitas, they'd be screwed.
"Get something that had to do wit Sapien," he whispered over to Chat. "We're in a time crunch."
He checked again for evidence in the trash can. Nope, nothing that would help. Feet were crunching on the ground now and adrenaline s was pumping in his veins. He set the bag down and reached for his pistol. This time, he had his hands ready.
The door knob jiggled. Once. Twice. After a moment it stopped. Suddenly, it burst open, revealing Sunshine holding her own pistol,
"Bellerpuge Pol...ice..." She lowered her gun from the duo. "Well, okay then."

"We must have just missed him." Chat muttered.
He distracted by his concentration in getting the drawer open. A heavy duty lock on a cheap drawer. there had to be something important inside. Someone didn't just go around putting good locks on cheap drawers. Not unless they had something to hide, which of course, Vanitas had plenty to hide. While Shadow dug in the trash, which was a good idea, but Chat knew that secrets were behind lock and key. He didn' necessarily need the key to get past the lock.
Chat got the drawer open right when Shadow heard someone coming. Getting caught was not something the thief did lightly. He showed himself to Shadow and Sunshine because he had hoped to come across some officers who would realize he was doing the 'wrong' thing for the 'right' reasons. Vanitas would not be so forgiving. He grabbed the first thing that he could see inside, slammed the drawer shut and grabbed his staff with his free hand. He froze in his spot when Sunshine burst in.
"My Lady, how nice of you to join us," he said.
He bit back a comment about bursting in like that. If they had been Vanitas, all element of surprise was ruined. She also should have radioed ahead to make sure it was safe, but that was just Chat worrying about someone's safety. At least she wasn't Vanitas. Otherwise there would have been a fight on their hands. He looked to his hand - what he had snatched in his moment of hurried stealing. His blood felt like ice. In the palm of his hand was a badge - a Bellerouge Police badge. Printed neatly on the front was: Terra Nobel.
"I... think you two ought to see this." he said once he found his tongue.
