A widower. And he wanted to keep it that way. Well, to each their own. "Nah. Never had any special lady friends," Shadow answered. He took a sag and shook the drops into his ice. "Well, my former partner Rouge continuously put the moves on me...my problem was she didn't know when to stop. I clearly told her I wasn't interested..."

Omar nodded. "Yea, I've had that problem. Quite a bit, actually. There was this one troll girl. I was never interested but she was convinced we were destined to be and all that junk. Finally got away from her and met Cindy but yea....” he shook his head. “Plus all the teenaged fangirls. With my stuff on the internet you wouldn’t believe how many I get. It’s crazy!”

Shadow just nodded, "I can imagine." There was a huge part of him who was relieved that Sunshine wasn't a hard core fangirl type. Then again, she was over boy bands, from what she told him when they were stuck in Thorn Manor. That and the type of music she was into was a much more subtle version of Omar's style.

Omar smiled slightly and shrugged. "So I take it from the way you were talkin before you're an immortal too? How long have you been on the force?" He was trying to be civil and make conversation, but Shadow being a cop was what kept coming back to the forefront of his mind. 'were you one of the cops that 'investigated' the murder of my son and girlfriend' being a question that was getting harder and harder not to ask.

"Ten years," Shadow answered. "And yes, I am an immortal." A cloud passed over his face. Time was just something that went both slow and fast at the same time. He had seen shit. Not just Maria's death, but the deaths of innocents, the five years of hellspawns rushing the ground before disappearing, cops who abused their power to do whatever they wanted for selfish gains.

"So you saw the hell that was the war then" Omar said flatly. "It was hell being in a relationship with a human then. I was constantly called out for not being true to the Others, and Cindy was ridiculed for being with an other, and asked if she was afraid I'd kill her. And then the kids...I can't imagine how being halflings was during the war" He shook his head and finished his second drink. "Sorry. Probably more than you were interested in hearing"

Shadow nodded solemnly to Omar's question. "It still sucks for Other cops, even after the fighting's said and done. We actually are here to prove we aren't monsters, but to people see us that way? No. Only s handful actually care."

Omar shrugged. "I can imagine. It takes guts to do what you do and I respect that courage. I'm just not a huge fan of the police. You seem fine, the blue-haired chick is....okay, I think. And Namine is a good girl" he smiled at the thought of Namine. He hadn't seen her in a good while and hoped she was doing alright.

"Namine's a good kid," Shadow agreed. He had never talked to her personally, but d wry one had made such high comments about her temperament..once you got past the shyness. He ordered another Chaos Bladt, slipping a tip to the bartender. "My partner Sunshine's pretty good..I admit I'm biased, what being on her side and all."

"I'll take your word for it. Anyone named 'sunshine' is most likely a ray of positivity. She's come over to my place for complaints on loudness before" he said with a dry chuckle. It was strictly business, but she seemed fine. "Namine just reminds me of someone I used to know. Shy, gentle, kind-hearted..." he shrugged. "But that's enough of that. What brings you to the bar and throwing tips into my jar?"

Namine complaining about noise. Well, that didn't surprise him. Criminal sketches needed a lot of focus in order to get it done, so noise would be an understandable distraction. Shadow took another swig, thinking about Omar's question. "I got bored sitting around my apartment doing nothing. I needed to get out. Small world came around with you guys playing. Besides," he gestured to the wadded money, "I know what's it like scrounging for cash."

Omar snorted. "I make enough to get by. Pretty good for only really doing this as a job for the last five years, but thank you for the gesture. it helps" He had once upon a time been a dock worker, when he had kids to support. "Yea, small world. It's good to get out and do things, get away from the thoughts that spin around in your head..." He shook his head and smirked.

"Not bad." There had been many a starving musician in this city. All of them had multiple styles to choose from. And almost all of them Had either left the city of had been a victim of a horribly timed murder. The starving part could have gone both ways; they were either literally hungry vampires that attacked innocents to cause a potential "bit and run" or they made hardly any money. Shadow had seen both

Omar shrugged. "Hard work, dedication, knowing the bar owner helps. Being progressive and using technology, unlike most of the Other music scene" He sighed. "Using every opportunity to get my name out there is just part of it. But ya know, I'm content being small time right now. Turned down an offer for a record deal, but don't tell the rest of the band. They'd probably get pissed at me" He just didn't feel ready quite yet to get more famous. Money was coming in, he had fans, could play almost every night and was with people he halfway enjoyed the company of. He was content right now.

Another sip was Shadow's answer to Omar. While he wouldn't tell the band, it was still interesting. But there was another truth given in the troll's choice as well. The ice rattled as he put his glass down. He felt buzzed enough and wouldn't need any more alcohol for the night. The bartender came by with the ticket stuck in a shot glass, complete with a red pen.
"If you ask me, your loyalty to your band is more important," he signed the check, "and if you're content with being a small time player, it's your choice."
