Vanitas couldn't even teleport his stupid ass home. He made it outside of his hide out (his new one since he knew someone found his last one). He stumbled in an alleyway, blindly feeling his way where he was trying to go. He tripped right into a trash can and fell, loudly tumbling the tin cans, scaring some alley cat into yowling and running away. Vanitas sighed. He sat up and leaned up against the wall. He couldn't see a thing. That stupid cop had blinded him. That alone should be considered police brutality granted Vanitas was pretty sure he broke the cop's arm. Tearing him limb from limb would have satisfied the demon more.
What made things worse was that he heard the soft rumble of thunder in the distance. He was outside of his lair, unable to find the damned door, he couldn't see and it was about to rain. He wasn't sure how much worse his night was going to get. He leaned his head back against the wall. This wasn't going how he had anticipated. He would have eliminated that other cop and moved on with his plans. Now, he wasn't even sure what his next move was.

Moses was walking through the streets, still with a minor headache and thoughts of worry. He thought he had seen his father on the corner of a street, but when he had looked again the familiar smokey figure was gone. He really hoped he didn't have to move and find a new job again. He liked where he lived, and his current job was nice. Moses was startled out of his thoughts by the yowling of a cat. A few seconds later, it whizzed by his legs. He blinked and heard more noise coming from the alley that the cat had come out of. He walked in and looked around. There was a young looking man there and at first he couldn't place him. But on closer inspection he realized it was the same guy that had tried to pick a fight with him. He bit his lip but kneeled in front of him and touched his shoulder gently. "Are you alright?"

Someone touched him. Immediately Vanitas knocked the hand aside, attempting to glower in the direction of the person, but he doubted he looked as intimidating as usual. He didn't realize it but he was staring directly past Moses. The person was familiar, but without a face, Vanitas probably wouldn't remember who it was. He annoyed a lot of people in the last few months. As long as it wasn't another cop, he would be fine.
"Do I look okay to you?" he snapped.

His hand was knocked away. It took a moment but the fact that the guy was looking past him and not at him was a sure indicator. The guy was blind. How on earth did that happen? Moses sighed and put his hand back on the guy's shoulder. "I'm just trying to help you" he said gently but firmly. There would be no arguments about him helping. "How did you get blind?"

"The fucking cops," Vanitas snapped. "Who else do you think is stupid enough to try something against me?"
Yes, Vanitas was furious. Perhaps if he could see who was pitying him for his current state, he would take his frustration out on them instead of that stupid cop who fancied himself a hero. He closed his eyes. It was still dark behind his eyes so it didn't matter if his eyes were open or if they were closed. He was just burning in his own fury with how the whole exchange went down.

"The cops blinded you? You must have been doing something wrong then. What, did you try to kill somebody or something? Pick a fight with another innocent bystander by any chance?" Moses declined to mention that he had tried something against this guy, and had lived to tell the tale. Moses sighed. He had a choice to make. Help this guy out or turn him in because obviously he was running from the law. Though maybe he could combine the two options and be a good Samaritan as well as a good citizen. He took one of Vanitas' hands and helped him to his feet. "I'm taking you home. Maybe we can figure out how to give you your sight back"

"They thought I was a thief." Vanitas snarled.
Perhaps the one time when he wasn't actually true, where Vanitas hadn't started the first problem. Okay, he instigated a little. Or rather a lot, but he had not been the reason the police were called out. He was unsteady as the person hauled him to his feet. Now that he was up, away from the scent of garbage, he noticed something familiar. A half demon. The half demon he beat down a while back ago, the one that had gotten cold feet once he realized he had enjoyed hurting Vanitas just as much. Now this was interesting.
"Already trying to go home with me? Not even going to buy me dinner first?" Vanitas quipped.

"...well they must have had a good reason" Moses said a little doubtfully. Why would the police think he was a thief if he wasn't doing anything? He was going to have to ask the unfortunate officer about this if he could. Or ask Pitch to ask for him. Moses rolled his eyes at the quip and gently hit Vanitas on the shoulder. "I'm trying to help you here. Now if you don't want to be caught by the police, the best thing to do is get you off the streets. Do you want to go to my place or yours? I'm okay with either. We need a private place to look at your eyes"

"Wouldn't back off." Vanitas said.
He always clashed with other stubborn individuals. It was just something he was unable to avoid doing. He hated authority figures especially those with the 'I'm right, you're wrong' mentality. Granted he lashed out in violent ways. He was a demon. It was in his nature to be violent. It hadn't always been that way but now he took to relish the pain and chaos he could make in his wake. There wouldn't be any of that until his eyes were fixed. If he were permanently damaged that police officer would suffer from more than a broken arm the next time he came in contact with Vanitas. He smirked in anticipation.
"My place is here," Vanitas sighed.
He fished his keys out of his pocket. The worst part was, he couldn't find the door. He was right here and he couldn't even get himself inside. Now he was going to have to switch hideouts twice in two weeks. That was really frustrating. He held out the keys, waiting for Moses to take them.

"So you attack them? How utterly idiotic" Moses snapped. He had long since had the mentality of 'run to fight another day' and couldn't imagine hurting an officer. They did the best they could to keep the peace, how dare Vanitas attack one of them when they were only doing their job. Moses looked at the blind demon. He was smirking. That couldn't mean anything good but Moses was afraid to ask. Moses took the keys and looked around for a door. He gripped Van's hand tightly and walked deeper into the alley, finally finding what seemed to be the right door. He tried the keys and they worked. "Let's get you inside before someone finds us" Moses murmured.

"Demon, remember? Full of bad ideas," Vanitas muttered.
He hated being led around like some little kid, needing his hand held and guided wherever he needed to go. He was a very independent demon that had long since given up on looking to others for help. Granted his place was a disaster so it was probably for the best. He probably would have tripped upon coming inside the building because he had just moved hideouts and things were still packed. Boxes, crates, hastily packed trash bags of clothes. This was why he was trying to feel out with his shadows. Moses had no reason to help him. None at all. He beat the other guy for crying out loud.
"What? Do I embarrass you?" he mocked.

"So I suppose being half demon gives me more self control. Lucky me..." he sighed and shook his head of depressing thoughts before stepping into Vanitas' place. It was an utter dump. Crates and boxes and bags of clothes...It looked like Vanitas had moved hastily from somewhere else recently. Moses wrinkled his nose slightly. "It stinks in here. What, hiding bodies under all this mess?" Moses rolled his eyes. "If the cops find me helping you then things could get very bad for both of us. I don't have a record and you are obviously on the run. I would rather not be found, wouldn't you?" he led Vanitas over to a crate and sat him down before going to the door and closing and locking it. He set the keys down on a nearby bag and went back over to Vanitas. "I'm Moses, by the way. We never introduced ourselves last time. Now, let's see what's blinding you..." he pulled Van's face up by the chin and looked closely into unseeing eyes.

"Lucky you," Vanitas repeated.
If he were honest, perhaps Vanitas was partially envious of that. But now that he had a record, now that he was a wanted man, there was no stopping, no backing out. He could just imagine his immunity floating out the window the moment that stupid cop got back to his co-workers and told them about the big bad demon that attacked him. Vanitas could argue self defense seeing as he ended up blind from the exchange.
"What's it matter if it stinks? This was all I could find last minute after someone broke into my last place," Vanitas snarled.
He felt rather indignant after he was forced to sit on a crate. The click of a door and he was alone with the Halfling he tried to attack. Heck if he were the guy, he would have already been taking advantage of the fact that Vanitas was blind. Couldn't see what happened next. This halfing made no sense. Complained about wanting to be 'good' and do the 'right' thing. He was helping an enemy. Still, Vanitas didn't try to bite the man when he grabbed him by the face and tilted his head up.
"Vanitas..." he mumbled.

"Okay, okay, sorry. I didn't know" Moses crouched next to Vanitas and continued looking into his eyes. "There's...powder in here. That must be what's making you blind. If we get that out of your eyes, you should be able to see again. Where's the bathroom in here? I need a wet washcloth" Moses blinked when Van introduced himself and nodded slowly. "I don't know if it was exactly nice meeting you Van, but I'm going to help you the best way I can, alright?"

"Sink's busted." Vanitas replied. "There's a jug of water by the tap."
It was the best he could do. No one wanted to hire a demon. Not a full fledged one anyways. He had a record at that. He had been so sick and tired of being treated like the scum of the earth so if that's what people saw him as, that was what he was going to be. There was no point in trying to be better than he was like that upstart cop or the demon who became a cop. They didn't have Vanitas fooled. He knew they were bad people.
"Whatever." he dismissed.
