"Why would you need to hide from daddy dearest?" Vanitas mocked.
A guy like Moses actually fit into society with their standards. Moses had a job, even if he was a partial demon. He had 'friends' so to speak but once they saw him for what he really was (even a Halfling) they would be scared of him. But Moses took great pride in his nature and also unknowingly rubbing in his better fortune in Vanitas' face. But to hide out in this dump? Just to get away from a parent was ridiculous, even for Vanitas' standards.

Moses scowled at him. "Why do you need to hide from the police?" he asked crossly. "My dad is a demon and wants me to be just like him. I don't want anything to do with dad. So I stay on the go to make sure he doesn't find me" Moses rubbed his arms and sighed. "I cherish my humanity, weird as it sounds. It's the best gift I ever got. I know you don't get it, but I'd rather be human than be like Hexxus"

"Trying to kill people might be a good reason." Vanitas snapped.
But he at least fell silent while Moses explained himself. Cherishing Humanity. Vanitas never had any to begin with so he couldn't exactly relate. He sighed and leaned back against the crate Moses made him sit on. Well there was an easy solution to Moses' problem. Vanitas could prosper from it as well. Maybe the guy wasn't as useless as he looked.
"Why don't you just use Sapien?" he asked.

"And he tries to ruin my life" Moses snapped back. He ran a hand through his hair and sighed. "Hexxus rules half the underground" he muttered. "And daddy dearest wants a son to rule by his side. But I'm too human for his tastes. So he tries to weed out my humanity every chance he gets" Moses frowned and shrugged. "I don't know what it is, and I don't particularly trust you. For all I know it's poison"

Moses kept going. Ranting and venting about just how bad his dad was. Vanitas just raised a brow. Moses apparently had a lot of daddy issues that he needed to work out but it seemed like for now Vanitas was going to have to be resigned to being the guy's soundboard. Terrible demon. Blah. Doesn't care about what I want. Blah. Trying to change me. Blah. Moses sure could talk.
"Yeah and I owe you one. I hate owing people." Vanitas replied. "Sapien is a drug. Makes Others like us Human."

Moses frowned at the new information and looked away. “...I was warned about a drug. I think it’s the one you’re talking about. It’s tempting but I won’t take it” he smirked and his eyes went black for a moment. “maybe I’ll like having you owe me, Vanitas. You could be useful” His eyes returned to normal and he closed them. “Sorry. I’m...grateful for the offer, but I’ll think of something else you can repay with”

"Warned by who?" Vanitas asked suspiciously.
There were very few who even knew that Vanitas was in the Sapien ring. He did have to say he was interested when Moses let a darker nature take root. Moses had finally peeked his interest. At first he seemed like such a goodie goodie. He would let a dark nature take root and go back to his boy scout act. Was it an act? He could have the city eating out of his hands if he was. He would own this city and those in it by playing the innocent school boy tormented by demons.
"Sure," he said.

“oh. Um...Hexxus, actually. Not much goes on that he doesn’t know about. He said it was bad for business, so I think it’s affecting some of his deals. Enough he’s concerned about it” Moses shrugged as though it weren’t a big deal. “He likes telling me about some of what goes on, I guess it’s to try and make me like him or something. Anyway, I don’t want what you’re selling” he shrugged again. Moses smiled slightly. “I’m going to have to be able to find you, to tell you what you can do to repay me you know” he prodded.

"So your dad? The same guy you're trying to hide from warned you about Sapien?" Vanitas asked.
He trying to wrap his mind around it. Obviously Moses didn't do a very good job hiding. This was bad. If Hexxus got involved it would make Vanitas' dealings with Sapien that much more difficult. The last thing Vanitas wanted was difficulties. But Moses was unknowingly giving Vanitas a heads up, giving him time to either cut his losses or try to salvage the product. He was probably going to have to let go. He rolled his eyes upon the request to keep in contact. He sighed and gesture to the box on the floor that had his spare burner cells. Untraceable by police.
"Behind you. Box on the floor," vanitas sighed. "There's a one time use burner."

Moses shrugged. “He doesn’t know where I live or where I work" he defended. “He just found me on the steet" although since Moses had two of his goons following him around now, he would have to move again and change jobs just to be on the safe side. Moses looked behind himself and then back to Vanitas. “Okay....what does it do, exactly?”

"A burner?" Vanitas asked. "It's a cell phone. You keep it off, keep it charged until you need to contact me. It's only got my number in it and pitch it after you use it. Not hard, boy scout."
It was like the basics of keeping on step above the police. You bought burner cells with cash and avoided cameras when you did it. Not hard. Cash was great. Made things harder for police to track. Vanitas didn't even have much in the means of monetary funds so he worked with what he had. Moses didn't even have that as basic street smarts.

Moses shrugged. “Sorry. I get by without cell phones. Have ever since I was on my own” at the ripe old age of twelve. He had preferred living on the streets to living with his aunt. The less Hexxus could track him by, the better. Moses’ eyes flashed black. “Who you calling boy scout, pretty boy?” he stated coolly, and put his hand to his head as his eyes returned normal. “You just love bringing it out, don’t you? stop annoying me, please!” Vanitas was really bad for him, and it wasn’t helping his efforts to keep his demon side under control. Not at all. Moses picked the phone up and put it in his pocket before looking at Vanitas. “You should go to bed. Sleep off the remains of that dust”

"Red turns it off. The little button shaped like a phone dials me." Vanitas explained with a huff.
He supposed an explanation wasn't undue, still it was annoying. Stupid halfling. Phones weren't that hard to get anymore, even cheaper to buy if you had a job. Vanitas didn't even have a job and he still managed to keep some form of communication on him. Okay, so he sold information to the right buyers. He just hadn't had any buyers lately.
"Aw, you think I'm pretty," Vanitas said.
He could barely contain his smirk. Moses' darker half did have a way of rearing it's head. He would have liked to push it a bit further but Moses was ready to hightail it out of there as fast as he could. The last thing Vanitas wanted was Hexxus on his front doorstep for anything regarding the halfling. Family affairs were none of Vanitas' business.
"Fine, fine. Get out of here before I change my mind or anything."

“Thanks for the tips Vanitas” Moses smiled at him, not at all put off by the huffy attitude. It seemed to be a front for a slightly gentler person underneath. He’d been willing to give Moses advice and offer something that could help with Moses’ demon half. Moses blushed. “Well...I...yea, yea you’re pretty. When you aren’t trying to kill me or anyone else that is” He unlocked and opened the door, hesitating on the step as he stared at the water coming down. “Do actually get some sleep first before you bounce, though, alright? You look exhausted” with a backward wave Moses stepped into the rain and shut the door closed behind him.

"Tough. You get one free pass and then things will go back to how they should be."
Vanitas snorted. He was not pretty. All of Moses' misconceptions about him were starting to irritate him again. Couldn't go out and solve those issues by beating something again. He had already gotten in trouble with that once already. Though he left a gift for the officer - a curse. Still, foul mood aside, he was not going to go straight to bed as Moses 'suggested'. He got up from his spot when the Halfling left, rifled through a tote nearby and found himself a bottle of vodka. He uncorked it with his teeth and took an enormous gulp. He was going to drink his night away. Not like he had anywhere to be the next day.
