Moses needed out of his apartment for a little while and went to the one place he doubted Vanitas would ever set foot in; the park. Of course, deals could be made in the park but Moses preferred to think about Vanitas being repulsed by the sheer goodness and innocence of children at play. He swung on one of the swings and breathed in the chilly November air, watching it puff out as steam when he finally released it. He didn't know what to feel. He was being drawn in two directions by very different types of people. He knew for the sake of his sanity that he needed to stay on the side of had work and morality, but a part of him was drawn to Vanitas and his dark lifestyle. And the growing want to show Vanitas just how good goodness really was. It made his already bad headaches worse thinking about it and he wanted to be alone for a bit, away from Vanitas and away from any hint of Hexxus. He needed to step carefully and decide what to do next. But for now he would continue swinging on the swingset.

Esme was holding a small child maybe three years old who was whimpering "I know I know.. it hurts but not to worry little one I will get you to a doctor so we can figure out whats wrong alright?" she says in a soft smile. One of the perks of being someone who controlled fire she tended to be really war regardless of the season so she saw not point in dressing in heavy clothes that would just make her sick. Though however she did bundle up the frail child in her arms being as gentle as possible. Though movement caught her eyes and she saw what she assumed to be a man either her own age or possibly older swinging on the the playground. Assuming he was just a fellow guardian or parent she went back to trying to calm her godson down though much to her dismay he ends up squirming out of her arms and insisting on going to play.
"No no Edmund no!" she cried out as she rushes after the little guy swearing to the gods above that he inherited his mother's stubbornness.

"Officer Esmeralda, I didn't agree to meet you here at the park just to watch you chase a stubborn child around."
The voice called from just beyond the playground where a figure all clad in black stood. Pitch watched Esme pursue the child but didn't smile or look amused in the slightest. He had received the call to meet with her under the condition that she, as a still acting officer in the Others Unit, would report to him what was currently happening within the BPD.
He continued to watch from the side as Esme struggled with the little boy, his own body still bearing the telltale signs of his fight with Vanitas. One side of his face was deeply bruised and his chest was equally battered and quite painful from where the Demon had struck him with the flat of his blade. Still, he was in a calmer mood then he had ever been since the failed raid on Grey Dawn. And the reason was simple.
The drug was finally leaving his body. His skin had been growing steadily paler and the amber of his eyes was starting to give way to the brilliant yellow it once was. Even the overpowering emotions he was subjected to were starting to lose their intensity. Still, the process was occurring at an excruciatingly slow rate and he could only hope that a cure would be created soon.
However, his main focus now was getting the information he wanted from his fellow detective and then leaving. He hadn’t been in the park since his run-in with Adeline and his pleasure towards the sunlight was fading along with his other human traits.

Moses continued swinging on the swings, lost in thought, till he heard what he thought was a familiar voice. His head turned and he searched for Pitch. He finally spotted him ,or someone who looked like him at least, and he slowed down enough to get off the swing. He walked a few steps towards the familiar-ish figure, who looked a little too human to be Pitch despite the similarities, but stopped when he saw that the other's attention was taken with a young woman with a frail looking kid who seemed to be fighting her to want to play. Moses sighed. Just let the kid play, and if he got hurt so be it. Just because he was sick didn't mean he should be deprived of living like a normal little kid.

Esme gave Pitch one of those looks she got when she knew something before turning back to Edmund. "Edmund I know you want to play but we have to go to the doctors... your mama was really sick..." she says attempting to coax him out but he was still stubborn refusing even going so far as to hide behind Moses. Esme sighed finally giving up at this point though the woman still looked rather tired though. "Sorry Pitch... I have to take care of my Godson while his mother is in the hospital... Anyways I got you the information you wanted." she says with a slight quirk of a smile but still looking exhausted.

Pitch didn't respond to Esme's look in any way, a sure sign that indeed he was beginning to transition back towards his natural Demonic state. Instead, he watched as she continued to struggle with the boy to the point that he ran over to hide behind the legs of a young man who had been standing a short distance away.
Up until that point, he had been listening to Esmeralda and paying attention to little else. However, when his eyes landed on the figure the young child had hidden behind, a slight look of surprise came across his features as he recognized the man.
"Moses. It has been quite some time since we last spoke, if I recall."

Moses twisted around to look at the kid that had run behind his legs and was using him as protection. He chuckled in amusement. "Maybe play in the sandbox. You can't get hurt there" he told the kid and turned to the woman and...it was Pitch. It must have been something to do with Sapien, there could be no other explanation. Moses wondered if Vanitas had hit Pitch with it when they fought, which Pitch also still bore the signs of. Moses felt guilty for being pleased that Vanitas had given almost as good as he got. He waved at Pitch when the demon addressed him. "Hey Pitch. It has been awhile" and a lot had changed. But that was alright, Moses still thought the world of Pitch. "I'm sorry if I'm interrupting something" he hastily added.

Esme blinks before chuckling and smiling at the new comer "Not really it was gonna be a quick conversation but hey my name is Esme." she says with a bright smile as she keeps an eye on Edmund. "Though I gather you two know each other? It saves me doing introduction for mister grumpy over there." she says with a good natured tease towards Pitch with a small smirk. While she knew she was probably playing with fire she enjoyed a little risk.

"No. You aren't interrupting anything."
Pitch kept his eyes on Moses for a few more seconds before giving Esmeralda a somewhat annoyed glance. However, he didn't act on the very human impulse to glare at her and instead focused on the young man in front of him.
"You seem to be doing quite well despite your concerns when we last spoke."
He chose his words carefully, aware that Esmeralda would easily hear anything they discussed and doubting very much that Moses would want a total stranger knowing he was half Demon.

"Um, yes. Pitch and I know each other. And I'm Moses Esme. Nice to meet you" a colleague of Pitch's was surely a friend of Moses'. He smiled at her before nodding to Pitch. "Still get headaches and...some of the other things we spoke about, but I'm managing to keep a lid on it. All in all I'm doing okay" He'd managed to avoid his dad the last couple of weeks and had had a not so bad encounter with Vanitas. He also seemed to be getting through to the other demon about goodness, and Vanitas had even helped wash dishes. Though Vanitas knowing where he lived was a slight problem as it was. Especially after his fight with Pitch. Moses bit his lip as he thought about it, but he didn't want to say anything with Esme right there, plus Pitch might explode in anger or something that Moses had been harboring a criminal in his home.

"Nice to meet you too Moses, I'll let you two chat... I need to keep an eye on Edmund..." she says softly before going to the sandbox to play with the young boy. She was far enough away so they could talk without her over hearing but close enough that if Pitch needed her she'd be able to come. "So Edmund what are we gonna build today?" she asked the toddler as he showed her the sand castle he was building. "Oh a castle hm?..." she says before helping him make one.

Pitch remained silent but watched as Esmeralda took the young boy and went to the sandbox, clearly understanding that this conversation would need to be between himself and Moses. Once she had started to construct a sandcastle with the child, he focused his gaze completely on the half-demon.
"I have heard some rather interesting rumors about the sort of individuals you are associating with of lately. However, I'm not one to believe in such gossip unless I have good reason to think it true."
He didn't say anything else and waited. He wanted to here it directly from Moses' mouth. However, he wasn't upset or even angry about the rumor but felt something almost like contempt.

Moses almost quailed under the calm gaze. "Rumors? There hasn't been anyone around..." But demons controlled darkness and could hide in shadows. Who knew who had been spying on him and Vanitas. Moses rubbed the back of his neck and looked down. "...I've run into the demon that's goaded me into a fight. You know him. Vanitas. He...uh...well... I helped him out once and then he recently broke into my house. I didn't call for help because well...he needed help and I don't hate him so" Moses looked at Pitch with something almost like defiance. "I'm sorry. If it had been you I would have done the same thing. I try not to hate people"

Anger, white-hot and powerful, came into his eyes at Vanitas' name. However, enough of his demonic nature had returned that he managed to calm himself with a few deep breaths before once again fixing his gaze onto the young man.
"If it had been me, I wouldn't have broken into your house in the first place. However, that is not the point of this conversation. I seem to recall you stating upon our first meeting that you desired aid in overcoming the dark influence your father presented. Now I hear that you have freely befriended the very Demon that attacked you."
His voice was soft and held no hint of the anger that had briefly flooded his body only a few moments before. However, the very atmosphere around him gave off a very different feeling.

"Pitch..." he stepped back and bit his lip again. "Maybe not, but if I had found you, I would have helped" Moses defended. Moses frowned. "I still do. But Vanitas hasn't done anything besides the first fight to goad me into the darker aspects of my demonic heritage. Actually he's been rather...subdued. Probably because of the circumstances. And who said I befriended him? an uneasy understanding, but not really friendship" Moses felt profoundly ashamed, like he had done something almost unforgivable and looked down. "Both times he was hurt, what was I supposed to do? And then he's asking if it's possible to be redeemed and-oh Pitch, I don't know how to feel"
