"I think I can handle him. He seems to like me fine so" Moses laughed and shrugged. He was aware he was probably making mountains out of molehills but he just couldn't help it; he was happy. Moses knew he'd probably pay for this later. Either Vanitas would do something stupid or he'd leave or something. But none of that had happened yet. He shook his head ."I don't know why he feels the need to act that way. I hope he sees that he doesn't have to act that way all the time but for now..." he shrugged again.

"There's probably a reason he acts like that," Axel shrugged. "But you can never really tell what someone is thinking."
It didn't sound like Moses knew much about Vanitas personally - like his interests or what he disliked. However, it didn't sound like Vanitas was the type to share that over pillow talk anyways. But those things could be learned later, Axel supposed. It might not have meant much to know about Vanitas personally, but Axel knew it for what it was - an act of trust to let someone know those things. Moses' mystery guy was going to remain a mystery until he opened up. Moses seemed determined enough to try. Axel commended him for it.

"I feel like something bad happened a long time ago. But doesn't pretty much everyone have a bad situation in their past?" he chuckled sadly and shook his head. "I want to get to know him better, if he'll let me. All I know is he's in some shady business and enjoys riling people up. But that doesn't really bother me" his own father was a bit like that, just more dangerous than Vanitas could ever dream of being. While Moses ran from Hexxus, he ran towards Vanitas. It was....interesting. "So, how did you pick up bartending skills?"

"All I can recommend with this guy is patience. If he puts up an act, it sounds like he has some trust issues to work out." Axel said. "Patience and determination."
That and he had seen other patrons come in with similar situations. As long as Moses put up with the guy long enough for him to realize that the other wasn't leaving, things had a chance of working out. Moses seemed like a nice guy. Axel would be rooting for him at least. Everyone deserved a shot at happiness. At least he was acting on his own dreams unlike another patron who had come in, smitten with his partner in the police force but too afraid to tell her. Moses had guts enough to fight for what he wanted out of life. Axel liked that.
"Bartending was... not my first career choice. Had to clean up my act somehow. Took some night classes and a few years later I'm here." he said.

"Patience and determination and kindness" Moses answered with a wink. "He can be quite meek and gentle when presented with kindness. I feel like it'll help in the long run if I show him not everyone's out to get him ya know? I want to be his safe place" this he had just decided for sure he wanted to do. He wanted to be the demon's safe place and his refuge, no matter what anyone else said about it. Moses had seen glimpses of it but he knew there was goodness in Vanitas. It was hidden, but it was there. Moses nodded at the response. "Being a waiter wasn't my first job choice either but I've....haven't had a lot of choice in the matter. I'm a bit of a jack of all trades actually"

"Poor bastard probably doesn't know how to react." Axel responded.
It really did sound like the guy that Moses was pursuing was a broken little toy. Nice guys like him always seemed to fall for the 'bad boy' type. Something like 'I can save him' or 'He's good. Really he is'. It could go either way. But it was on Moses to make those life choices. He seemed pretty pleased with himself thus far so Axel would let him have his little bubble of happiness.
"Jack of all trades, master of none." Axel said. "I know how it is. It's hard finding a job sometimes. Especially one that requires previous work experience. Some of that entry level BS I tried to apply for way back when, asked for a Master's Degree and five years experience. For entry level work."

"I don't know...it just seems like he's forgotten how" Moses responded thoughtfully. "I experienced his cruelty as well as his kindness. He didn't have to save my life, but he did. Didn't have to do the dishes, but he did. Didn't have to stay the night and wake up with me, but he did. I swear there's good in that demon or peacocks can fly farther than a low branch" Moses nodded. "It's tough. I can only get the basic jobs and janitorial work, but I have gotten an apartment and everything, so I'm doing pretty good"

"Has the guy said why?" Axel had to ask.
The hot and cold behavior would have given Axel whiplash for sure but Moses took it in stride. He just accepted the fact that this guy just didn't do this things normally, probably didn't even comment on it. That was probably the best way to go about it. Moses should let the crazy psycho sometimes nice guy go to him. Moses should let his 'bad boy' do the work and then he could reap the benefits. Or positive reinforcement. Reward the guy for good behavior and ignore it when he did something bad. Worked on dogs. Should work on ill behaved boytoys. Axel smirked.
"Let me know if you ever need a change of work." he said. "Tips are pretty good here, but only because people know that if they don't tip well I get pissed off."

Moses shook his head. "No. But maybe one day he'll open up. I can always hope" hope and gently pry and just work on Vanitas's defenses to eventually get him to trust Moses enough to want to spill about some of his life. Moses was all about the motto 'go big or go home' Moses smiled. "I'll keep that in mind, thanks man. I might just take you up on that soon" Moses had noticed more of his dad's goons sniffing around. It was about time he switched jobs again. Though he was loathe to switch apartments. He wanted Van to be able to find him if he needed to.

"You must really like the guy if you're willing to put up with him like this." Axel said. "Either that or it was a really good night."
It wasn't a bad thing. Axel was glad Moses had someone. Or at least had a really good night. The fire demon would be rooting for him at least. If anything it amused Axel. One of the waitresses stepped up, requesting drinks for her table. He began to mix them but he didn't leave Moses too long. The guy was honestly interesting to talk to and Axel didn't feel like talking to his drunker patrons. Moses was sober or at least more so than people on their third or fourth drink.
"Just an offer," Axel said. "With a bit of practice, you might be as good at mixing drinks as me one day."

"...I don't know If I really like him. It was a good night but that's not just it. It's..." he ran a hand through his hair and laughed a little. "Well I guess it's because he can be so kind. And my demonic side likes the challenge. so it all works out really" he shrugged and finished his drink and set it down. "Yea, I bet I will. I'll let you know if I ever need a job" he said with a chuckle.

"You want a challenge, you got it." Axel laughed. "All the other demons I know are a royal pain in the neck."
He had indirectly putted himself to Moses as a demon but Axel was comfortable with his species and his powers. He found he wasn't nearly as high strung as others were. But he also liked to give fair warning so someone didn't complain that it came out of left field. He just kept smiling, pausing only to give the drinks to his waitresses. That alone might make Moses reconsider the offer. It seemed he had his hands full of enough demons.

"Yes" he laughed. "Even I can be a pain in the neck sometimes. But most species can" he didn't mind that this guy had outed himself as a demon. It was fine, he was getting used to being surrounded by demons. It seemed he just couldn't get away from them, though to be fair he wasn't really trying anymore. "I'm fine with training under another demon. So no worries. And I think we could get along fine in the workplace"

"Fair enough." Axel agreed. "I'll try not to be an ass unless absolutely necessary."
Well he hadn't gone running for the hills yet. Only a good sign Axel supposed. If Moses had worked with demons before, it meant he sure knew how to pick his friends. Axel just grinned to keep from laughing at the irony of it. Most people tried to go the opposite direction of demons. Seemed like Moses realized that was easier said than done if he had a history with them.
"Another drink?" He offered.

(I'm trying to roll with what you're typing but Moses never spoke out loud about all the demons he deals with or his own half demon status. I don't even think he mentioned Van was one. It's really starting to bug me)
"Sure I'll have another drink Moses grinned and slid his cup over for the drink to be mixed. He felt pretty good and since he had just been paid could afford to splurge a little on drinks. Maybe he could do one or two more. That would be great.
