Adeline gave a little chuckle. "Thanks," she said. She appreciated the gesture, even if Axel couldn't legally serve her an alcoholic beverage right now. At the mention of an exorcism, she shook her head. "I don't know if something like that would work. Thrax is, like, up at the top when it comes to demon power. To cancel out whatever he did to me would take magic as strong as his." She took a sip of her tea. "Besides, it's...kind of different, from typical possession stuff. Like, in that Exorcist movie, the Devil talks through that girl. Thrax can't do that with me. It's like...he just took this part of me, and he changed it from a witch to a demon. He's hoping that eventually, it'll consume me completely and then we'll be frolicking through the fields of destruction. Or, something like that." She put it lightly, but it was a pretty serious matter. To have a witch like her succumb completely to her demon side, she could do so much damage. And if she was at Thrax's side, they'd be a threat to the entire city. That was the only thing Thrax cared about: her power. He wanted to use it for his own selfish needs.

"That is pretty serious." Axel agreed. "I'd say that would have warranted two drinks."
The more she spoke the more Axel wanted to flambé Thrax. She didn't deserve this. No. Thrax needed to be taught a lesson on how to treat those deemed 'inferior' to him. But the kid needed hope. That things could change. That she didn't have to be the demonic creature that Thrax wanted her to be. If Axel and her other friend were 'good demons' than she could be too. He supposed he ought to try to keep her spirits up. At least until Thrax was gone.

"Yup, that's me, little Miss Serious," Adeline said with a little nod of her head. The whole thing had left her pretty melancholy and down, at least for a while. Now, she just had periods of ups and downs. Some days, she could actually be a little perky and upbeat. Then, if something bad happened, or she just started feeling depressed again, then she withdrew from everybody like a turtle hiding in its shell. Her life was unpredictable nowadays, which made it hard to form a connection with anyone. Being pulled out of school certainly hadn't helped. Of course, there was no way she could handle regular class work and this demon problem. It would be too much. Besides, she'd probably just be labeled as a freak anyway. High schools were notorious for that, even magical ones.

"If you want, you can always hideout here." Axel said. "Break room isn't much but it's cozy."
It might do her good to spend more time with demons in general - the good kind at least. See that demons could be good, plus, there was literally a wall of Others (albeit drunken ones) that either 'bad' demon had to get through to get to her here. His patrons were known for bar fights once things got rowdy. The former barkeeper kept hiring out some band that was headed by some guy named Omar. Axel reasoned that he could do the same since the guy brought in crowds, even if he occasionally fought. The police had gotten quite good at responding quickly too. He grinned a bit ruefully over that. The kid was too sullen for his tastes. She was too young to be acting like the world was against her already and that she was alone in her cause against the 'evil demons'. It just didn't sit well with him.
"Nothing's more relaxing than a drink with a stranger," he chuckled.

To be honest, Adeline was thinking about maybe coming to this place every so often right before Axel suggested it. It was rather nice. She could sit by herself if she wanted, or socialize a bit. And she was willing to bet that Thrax and Vanitas wouldn't try to get her if she was out in public like this. With so many people around, it would be hard for them to try anything without getting caught. Besides, Axel was being awfully nice to her. Maybe she couldn't take him up on his offer to follow her around all the time, but maybe she could hang out here every once in a while so he could keep an eye on her and make sure she was doing okay. "I'd like that," she said, smiling a little.

"What even brought you to a bar if you couldn't drink?" Axel asked.
That was a loaded question. Had she been chased in here? Just trying to get away from the cold? Maybe she didn't want to talk about it. He was a stranger who literally just volunteered to be her bodyguard if she wanted him to. Any normal girl would have run for the hills because he was just being a bit too nice. They would have thought he wanted something for his help, but really, Axel just hated seeing others taken advantage of. He knew what it was like to be on the receiving end of abuse just because of his species but instead of letting that get him down, he just developed a twisted sense of humor, a terrible temper, a dependence on alcohol and a hero complex.

"Just wanted a warm drink, really," Adeline said. "I was heading home, and I passed by this place. I figured you probably had at least something hot, like coffee or tea or something." She lifted up her mug. "I guess I was right." She glanced out the window. "It is getting a little late though," she said, more to herself than Axel. Her whole plan had been to just get a quick drink before heading home so she could avoid being out after dark. It looked like that plan was out the window. Maybe she could take the bus or something instead of walking. That was probably safe, right?

"Finish your drink and we can get ready to go." Axel said. "Least I can do is get you home."
He leaned back in his chair. He was off shift anyways. Hence him actually being at a table and not behind the bar. She might have said she didn't want an escort but she was in a bar. He might have had control over his patrons inside the confines of those four walls, but they were out of his control otherwise. He knew that people could act one way in person and another entirely behind closed doors. But the kid was still sweet. A bit timid but with good reason. She had just been dealt a bad hand of cards.

Adeline blinked in surprise. That was an awfully generous offer. She just hoped her parents didn't freak out about her getting a ride from a man she had just met, and by a demon no less. Maybe she could just keep this to herself, for now at least. Once she got to know Axel more, she could tell her parents about him. Heck, maybe she could even introduce him to Pitch. If Pitch felt like he was a good guy, then she knew her parents would take his word for it. They trusted Pitch when it came to things like this. "Thanks," she said, finishing the last of her tea with a few sips. She was about to stand up when she realized that she was still wearing Axel's jacket. "I guess you'll be wanting this back," she said, slipping it off as she held it out to him.

Axel got to his feet when she was finished. He chuckled when she tried to give him back his jacket. He shook his head. He certainly didn't need it. He didn't feel the cold like she did. Not unless temperatures dropped astronomically, like snow cold. Then he would be an unhappy fire demon. Until then, this weather might as well as be considered spring for him. She had certainly warmed up a bit more and that didn't mean just temperature wise. He didn't take the jacket back.
"Trust me kid, keep the jacket." he said.
He motioned for him to follow her out the back door of the bar. Outside his motorcycle sat. After fishing his keys out of his pocket he got on. The helmet which had been sitting on the seat was then held out for her. Axel wouldn't need it. He didn't particularly like helmets but it was the law. If he got pulled over he would just say that he only had the one anyways.

"Oh, okay. Thanks." Adeline slipped the jacket back on as she followed Axel outside, where his motorcycle lay. In all honesty, Adeline wasn't surprised he had one. Sure, Axel was a nice guy, but he did seem to fit the stereotypical look of a bad boy, and guys like that tended to have motorcycles that could go faster than any car around here. She just hoped the jacket didn't fall off. There was only one helmet to go around, but Axel handed it to her anyway. "So, how long have you had a motorcycle?" she asked as she put on the helmet. Most people around her tended to get cars, or use public transportation to get around.

"Since I was your age." Axel responded.
He had found his first motorcycle at a junk yard, worked and worked on it until it was operational. This one was far newer. Ran much better than his first hunk of junk ever did. He wondered if the motorcycle freaked her out. She had put on the helmet at least but she hadn't gotten on. Maybe it was because she would have to hold onto him? It was asking for a lot of trust. Plus she would have to tell him where she lived. She might not want that.
"If you want I could order you a cab?" he offered.

Axel had been driving motorcycles that long? Jeez, Adeline thought. She hadn't even started learning how to drive yet. Sure, she had taken one spin in an empty parking lot with her dad once, but that was about it. Getting a license wasn't really a priority for her at this point. Besides, most of the places she wanted to get to were either within walking distance or she could take one of the many city buses that ran around this place. "Oh, no, this is fine," she said, declining Axel's offer to get her a cab. She felt like it'd be kind of wimpy to back down now. Although, the motorcycle did seem a bit big compared to her. But she wasn't about to let that intimidate her. She carefully swung one leg over, making sure Axel's jacket didn't get caught in anything. The helmet felt slightly too big for her head, but it wasn't about to slip off anytime soon. "Okay, I'm ready," she said, hoping she looked confident. Axel had already fretted over a lot this evening. She didn't want to make him worry anymore than she already had.

Adeline had guts. Axel had to give her that. She got onto the back of the motorcycle and he chuckled to himself. Definitely like a little kid playing dress up. She was too small for his jacket and too small for his helmet. Good news was, by wearing those things, not only was she safer and warmer, but it would confuse other demons with the strange scent. He turned the key and revved the engine. He brushed off the kickstand and they started to move along, nothing too fast, just out of the alley. He wasn't going to do anything crazy with a passenger. In his younger days he had a penchant for street racing. He shook his head. The girl made him feel old.
"Okay. Hold on," he told her. "So where are we going?"

The engine roared beneath Adeline's feet. It almost reminded her of a snarling animal. But, it didn't feel that threatening. The sudden movement forward jostled her slightly and her arms went around Axel to keep her balance. "Oh, uh, the Riverfront area," she said. "There's an entrance to my neighborhood, like, five minutes after you get there."
