Yang had to admit, there was more to working at this bakery than she had thought. Sunshine had made it seem so easy, but there was always tons of stuff to do. All the sweets had to be mixed, baked, and decorated, if need be. That alone took up a lot of time. Then, there were all the different types of coffee, regular and iced. Yang didn't know how anyone kept it all straight. But, she felt like she was slowly getting the hang of things. Her fire powers certainly came in handy if something needed to be toasted or heated up quickly. At the moment though, she was on her lunch break, enjoying a turkey sandwich and cafe latte. It had taken a little while, but she was feeling more and more confident in her decision. She wasn't getting into any trouble, and her kids were happy with their new guardians. Well, Louie was still a bit sour, but Yang was sure he would come around. He just needed time.

Moses was feeling pretty bad. He was the only one in the entire town it felt like that didn't want Vanitas too badly punished for what he'd done. Sure, kidnapping two girls was deplorable but he felt that maybe there could have been some other way to take care of things instead of toss Vanitas away. Maybe not let him go scott free and take a plane out of here but something that was in the middle. Community service maybe?
Moses decided to go to the coffee shop to unwind. He needed a good almond latte to calm himself down and let himself stop thinking about things for a little while. When he got there, he saw someone he hadn't seen in a long while and he smiled. "Yang!" he called out happily. "Long time no see!" he made his way over to her and stood there grinning. "How you been?"

Yang looked up when she heard her name, and smiled. "Moses, hey!" She immediately jumped up to give him a hug. "It's been forever. We gotta meet more often or we'll start becoming strangers." She gave a little laugh. Truth be told though, Moses had kind of fallen onto the back burner for a while when it came to Yang spending time with friends. She made a mental note to change that. After all, Moses was one of her oldest friends. "I'm doing okay. Just taking a break before heading back to work. Who knew there was so much to do at a bakery?"

"Heh, yea" he agreed but couldn't help but feel that maybe he'd become a stranger already. After all, she had no idea his dealings with Vanitas. And he had no idea why she was suddenly working where he worked. Did some people finally catch her in her theater? Possibly. He'd have to ask for the full story later. "Yea, I know right? It's my day off but I work here as a waiter" he said with a smile. "You settling in alright though, right? Everyone treating you nice and stuff?" he hoped so. Last thing he needed was her getting frustrated, and giving up and going back to a life on the streets. At least here she was safe.

"Oh yeah, Sunshine mentioned that," Yang said. Sometimes, she forgot that Moses had a life outside of being an informant for the police. But with him and Sunshine here, she was sure things would be okay here. Sure, she didn't want to work at a bakery forever, but for the moment, it was enough to get her some cash while she worked on getting a GED. "Yup, everything's fine," she replied. "Having fire powers and working with an oven just kind of go hand in hand, you know?" She gave a laugh.

"We're work buddies now" He said happily and smiled at her. "Oh yea, I bet. If it ever has problems starting you can take over and heat the things up too" which was pretty handy, especially when things were really busy and they depended on the oven. He sat down across from her, thoughts for a coffee at the back of his mind right now. Right now he just wanted to catch up with an old friend.

"True," Yang agreed. "Not sure if I could keep it up for a long shift, though." She gave a laugh as she tossed her hair back. "So, what's new with you?" she asked. "Anything interesting happening in the life of Moses Gradely?" Usually, she had more stories to tell when they met up because she did things that were crazier, but still. That didn't mean Moses didn't have some cool stuff to talk about.

"Well..." he rubbed his neck as he debated exactly how much to tell her. "....I helped negotiate a hostage situation recently" he decided on with a smile. "Pitch trusted me because I knew the perp. I calmed him down and got the girls out safely. Other than that though, my life has been...boring" far from the truth but he'd already revealed too much about his life already. He didn't need Yang lecturing him for getting involved in demon business. He had a right to be involved if he wanted to, being half demon and all.

"Damn. Sounds intense." Of course, Yang had heard about how Vanitas had finally gotten put behind bars, a decision that she was all for. As for who was involved though, she wasn't sure. She figured at least some of her cop friends were present for the arrest, but she hadn't really asked them about it. She didn't see the point. The important thing was that Vanitas was finally going to get his ass dragged through court. "I guess that is a bit more exciting than baking cookies around here," she said jokingly. "Although Sunshine's been saying that this place can be like a madhouse on holidays. That's probably as close to action as this place is going to get." Yang didn't mind the calm environment though. Sure, she liked a thrill every now and then, but she also liked to slow down every once in a while, and the bakery was a nice place to do that.

He nodded. He had conflicting feelings about Vanitas giving up like that. It bothered him that Vanitas would probably see it as a betrayal for Moses even helping the police, and it bothered Moses that Vanitas was just going to up and leave without even saying goodbye. Logically he knew that there was nothing between them to warrant a goodbye. He'd just had his house broken into and let the other demon stay. And that one act of kindness that one time, but other than that, there was nothing to keep Vanitas in town. Didn't mean the abandonment didn't hurt though. "Oh believe me, you can kiss your holidays goodbye" he said with a laugh. "It's as hectic as it can possibly get, and crowded with all types. But it's also a friendly environment so you can't complain too much"

Yang laughed. "Well, it's not like I have a full nest to return to now," she said. With her kids being taken care of by other people, she really only had herself to worry about now. Still, she was sure that she had made a good decision. Jenny, Cody, and Penny seemed really happy. And she was sure Louie would be too. He probably still needed time to adjust. After all, living in an abandoned movie theater was very different than living in a regular house, with parents, and a schedule that was fairly normal. "Guess we're both living the bachelor life now, huh?" she joked.

He looked at her. Something had happened, then. She'd never give up her kids under normal circumstances. Or have a normal job. He'd have to ask later what happened to make her change her mind. Probably something pretty drastic. His smile became slightly strained when she said they were both bachelors. His thoughts went to Vanitas and his strange relationship with the demon. But Van was in prison. That had to end a relationship cold, right? "Yea, both bachelors" he finally agreed.

Yang saw the confusion on Moses's face for a moment, and she suddenly realized why he would react that way. "Oh, that's right. You haven't heard about what happened, have you?" she asked. She felt dumb for not realizing that Moses wouldn't have known. Sure, he was an informant and stuff, but it wasn't like he hung around the station 24/7. He probably wasn't around to hear all about Frollo and her kids and how Shadow, Sunshine, and Elsa had helped her.

"I'm sorry Yang, I really haven't" he smiled apologetically at her and shrugged. "Sounds like something drastic if it got you a proper job instead of underground fight rings though" he commented with a smile. It was a nice change. He'd been telling her for forever she needed to get a proper job, and it looked like she finally had. This made him happy. "Do you want to tell me now or later when you aren't taking a lunch break?" he asked with a small smile.

"I can give you the short version," Yang replied, taking a bite of her sandwich before continuing. "Basically, Frollo decided to be a dick and try to take my kids away while sticking me in a cell. Needless to say, I kicked the butts of any cops he brought with me. But, I decided that living on the streets wasn't the best thing for me and the kids. I mean, they deserve to have a real childhood, you know? So, Shadow, Sunshine, and Elsa helped me out. Jenny, Penny, and Cody are with relatives. Louie finally got a foster family. And Sunshine got me a job here." Granted, there was a whole lot more for the story, but all the details would have to be saved for another time.
