"But you aren't," Adrien insisted. "You took care of four kids on your own, didn't you? They turned out to be really good kids. And... Well, you helped me."
He was trying to give examples of how she had helped people and had been successful. So she had a few fights go bad, you got back up, brushed yourself off and did it again. Maybe losing an arm wasn't the same as brushing it off, but it would just take some adjustment. He smiled sadly and brushed a hand through her hair. He silently realized this was probably the closest he had ever allowed himself to get to her. He was sure there was other instances where Yang had helped but she was just forgetting about them because things were just so bad now.
"Please, Princess, don't quit..." he said softly.

Yang shook her head. "I took care of them with stuff I stole and illegal fights. What kind of life was that for them?" Who knew, if things had stayed the way they were, maybe the kids would have ended up stealing things too. Louie definitely would have. At the time, he was all for the street life and wanted to live it just like Yang. "You still left," she said in reply. Yeah, she might have helped Adrien out, but he had still been gone for so long. She knew it was to protect her, but the feelings of abandonment were still there. "I missed you so much." She held onto him tighter. Or, as tightly as she could manage with just one arm. She didn't want him leaving her again.

"They're alive aren't they?" Adrien pointed out. "Do you know what would have happened to them if you or someone like you didn't pick them up?"
Adrien knew. Horrible things would have happened to Yang's kids. They would have been used for their powers or worse. They certainly wouldn't be the same as they were with Yang. Happy, well fed with a roof over their heads. It was part of the reason he kept going back, because he wanted to see her succeed in the little happy family thing. Well, part of the reason.
"I thought... I was protecting you by leaving." He said, his voice growing weak as he spoke. "But I missed you too. So much."
He could feel relief seeping into his being when she hugged him tighter. He wouldn't take advantage of the situation by being too forward but he did hug her back a little tighter. If he thought about it too much, he would have realized this was probably the first time he had been hugged since his mother vanished during the war. His father wasn't an affectionate person.

Yang just sniffled and wiped her eyes. That was something she hadn't thought about. Her kids had been in pretty bad situations when she had found them. Who knew how long they would have lasted on their own. But, having them live in an abandoned movie theater with a guardian who was a criminal probably wasn't the best solution to the problem. Sunshine, Shadow, and Elsa had helped her find homes for the kids so easily. If she could have just gone to them earlier, maybe things would have turned out better. "I don't want you to leave again," she said, her voice still choked up by her tears. "I don't care about Cinder or the cops that are after you or your dumb dad. I can't..." Her voice trailed off, not sure if she could say what she wanted to. She just couldn't watch Adrien leave her, not again.

"Can't have the nurses catching me. They'd gossip and never leave you alone about it." he said. "But I'll won't leave for good. Not again."
He smiled a little sadly. He would have to go eventually. The nurses would catch him and then they would both really be in trouble. Adrien could already see the headlines if it were to happen. Might actually give the city something to laugh about. Teen supermodel enjoys dressing in leather and visiting young women. His father would probably die of a heart attack. Adrien would probably die of laughter or his father killing him. It was a bit of a toss up.
"You're stuck with this alley cat." he told her. "And I'll come back tomorrow morning. Cleaner this time. Promise."
Since Yang actually wanted him there, he was going to have to see about paying off her hospital stay. He doubted whatever job Sunshine gave her had health insurance that completely and utterly covered demon attacks.

Those words offered the most comfort Yang had had in days. Just knowing that Adrien would come back once he left made her feel a little better. Having him around so much would create some trouble, and that was the last thing she wanted, for her and for him. She wasn't sure what was more risky: spending time with him as Chat, or Adrien. Both sides of him could have consequences, and she wasn't sure what to do about them. But she didn't want to worry about them right now. She just wanted to keep Adrien here as long as possible before he had to go away again. "Don't get yourself hurt out there," she said, looking up at him. "I don't...I don't want anything to happen to you." No doubt Adrien was doing what he could as Chat to help out the big mess that Bellerouge was in. Sure, a lot had been done to catch the criminals that had escaped and rebuild what had been destroyed. But some parts of the city were still dangerous. Heck, they were dangerous even before the jail break. Yang just didn't want Adrien to end up like her. If he got hurt too...she didn't know what she'd do.

"Princess, the first thing on my mind when I get home is to sleep like the dead." he said.
He would eventually get back out there to continue to help the police but at the moment, he was tired, sore, hungry and probably filthy. He didn't know how Yang wanted to sit near him all things considering. But seeing Yang again, talking to her and her knowing well, everything, made it feel like a weight had been taken off his shoulders. It was going to be very hard for him to leave, but he supposed wasn't about to duck out just yet. Yang's nurses weren't due back for a little while longer.
"Besides, nine lives, remember?" he asked.
That and his suit was trash. He was going to have to either repair it or get a new one.

"I wouldn't put much faith in that," Yang said when Adrien made a joke about having nine lives. "I'm part phoenix. Look how much good that did for me." Sure, she hadn't died, but there was no way for her to be reborn from the ashes or anything like that. She couldn't make her arm come back, no matter how much she wanted it to. Adrien might be the same. Maybe he was a tough one to kill, but dying wasn't the worst thing that could happen to him.

"Nope. None of that. Or I'll have to resort to drastic measures." Adrien teased.
He wasn't sure what he would do to make her laugh, but he would figure something out. If there was one thing he knew he was good at, it was making Yang laugh. Even though she probably didn't feel like it, he believed that getting her back to herself was the first step in her moving past this injury of hers. She needed someone to remind her it was okay to laugh and smile. That it was okay despite everything that happened.
"I might have to get pawsy!" he said as he mimed tickling her.

Yang bit her lip. She couldn't tell if Adrien actually wasn't that worried about himself, or if he was just trying to be positive so she wouldn't fret over him. She didn't know which one made her more worried. She just didn't want Adrien to make the same mistakes she did and just rush off into something head-first without considering the danger. She had done that with Thrax, and had ended up in way over her head. And now, she had to deal with the consequences of that. "No, no drastic measures," she said, pushing his hands away. "Just...promise that you'll be careful. Okay?" Really, that was what she wanted. That would make her feel a lot less anxious about Adrien when he left again.

"You have my word." Adrien vowed. "That from now on, I'll always come back. I'll be careful."
He took her hand in his. At one point he might have kissed it but he figured she had gone through enough without his lousy flirting to get in the way. This had apparently shaken her enough that she no longer found the cat related joke funny. It was a little funny though, just how distracting he found her to be when they were this close. He had to clear his head, but he doubted she would let him move away out of the fear he would literally leap out the window.
"And you promise me that you'll smile again sometime." he told her. "Not until you feel like it, but eventually, okay?"

Yang let out a breath. Adrien's words made her feel a lot better. She didn't know what to do with herself, but at least Adrien would always come back. She could rely on that, even if she couldn't rely on herself. "You coming back...I think that's enough to make me smile a little now," she said. She glanced back up at him, her lips finally curving upward. It was a small smile, but she felt like it was enough to convey how she was feeling. Losing her arm, everything that had happened with Thrax, it had made a hole in her heart. Having Adrien back made it hurt a little less.

"Good to know, Princess," Adrien said softly.
She was smiling. He watched her lips move. That alone was very distracting. But he forced himself to blink and look back up at her eyes. It had been tough when she hadn't known Adrien and Chat were one in the same. Besides, she had freaked out when she had seen him as Adrien. He couldn't say something right now about the crush he had developed for her. She had enough on her mind. That and he was going to have to hold back the 'hand' jokes. Terrible timing for them. Not to mention she was having a hard enough time with that. Complicated. He nearly laughed. The more things changed, the more they stayed the same.
"Let's make a deal, when they cut you lose from the hospital, you let me take care of the bill, yeah? And let me take you to lunch?" he asked.

Yang bit her lip again. The hospital bill was probably going to be a lot. She felt guilty letting Adrien pay for it. But, as she was starting to learn over the past few months, it was okay to ask for help now and again. And now that she only had one arm, she was going to need quite a bit of help. She couldn't expect to do everything on her own like she used to. She took a deep breath before responding with "Okay. You can have the bill." Knowing Adrien's family, it probably wouldn't make much of a dent in his bank account. As for going out to lunch...doing something normal might be good for her. At the very least, it would distract her for a bit. She just wondered if she would be up for it. Her mind sometimes jumped back to what happened with Thrax at the most inopportune moments. What if it happened again when she was out with Adrien? And, as much as she didn't want to admit it, she was afraid of what other people might think when they saw her. Would they stare at her useless right arm? Would they think she was some sort of freak? It was an insecurity that Yang had never had to deal with before, and it made her a little nervous. "You think we could do something like that?" she asked. It was a simple question, but all her worries about it were still swirling in her mind.

"It's a date then," Adrien grinned.
The bill was nothing to Adrien. The money was not a problem, not in the slightest. He would get that money for Yang's hospital stay even if he had to fire the accountant to do it. He would tell his father whatever he had to in order to restore the city. And more importantly, Yang. Heck, he made that and then some at the shoot his father booked him in Italy. And he would make even more when they finally hosted the fashion show next month. He squeezed Yang's hand reassuringly. The things he would do for her and she didn't even know it.
"Should I surprise you or do you have a place in mind?"
