Yang shrugged. "Hey, we're all gonna get old and gross someday. Might as well embrace it." She paused for a moment before adding "Most of us, anyway." Some citizens of this city had been around for decades, centuries. They weren't about to turn into wrinkly old people anytime soon. For her and Adrien though, they aged just like regular people. She nodded when Adrien commented on her hearing about who Shadow's father was. "Yeah. I just...do people really think he's going to turn out like his father? It's not that simple. Not everyone is a clone of their parents. Just look at you." Adrien's father was a jerk, yet Adrien himself was as sweet as could be. He had decided not to be like his father, and he had succeeded, even if his dad didn't know it yet. Surely, Shadow could do the same, right? However, the gloomy mood that had momentarily settled over the car was washed away for the moment when Adrien pulled up to a fast-food place. Not only were burgers ordered, but Adrien also paid for some fries and two milkshakes. "Man, when you blow your diet, you blow all out," Yang joked as she reached for the vanilla milkshake. It did seem like Adrien's wallet was a bottomless pit, though. Was there anything his money couldn't buy?

"I'm kind of glad I'm not like that. Immortal I mean," he clarified. "I think I'd snap if I had to keep doing this forever."
Now that would make for some interesting headlines. He shook his head. He wouldn't wish a modeling career on anyone for a few centuries, let alone a few decades. He had been at it for a while. He just had to wait for his father to retire, then he could take his turn at running the family business. Things would be different under Adrien's management. He would control so much more, finally have the reigns in his own life. It would be... nice.
"Thanks, Yang."
He was glad he wasn't like his father. His father was so focused on his work, he might as well as have not been living at all. There was no joy to his life. Adrien wanted to stop, enjoy things, experience all that he could experience. What was the point of his wealth, if he couldn't do something worth while with it? Adrien had modeled himself after his mother, but after a while, he started to forget things, like the sound of her voice. He tried to be like her, but most of it was what he thought he remembered her as. He made it up as he went.
"Actually, it's not often I get to treat anyone..." he admitted with a blush. "So... Your place?"
He would need directions, seeing as he had never been to her new home and he doubted she wanted to be dropped off at the Stella Theater.

"Yeah," Yang agreed. Heck, she didn't know how some immortals did anything for decades on end. You'd think with all that time, they'd change things up every once in a while. Then again, Yang had no idea what she wanted to do. For the longest time, the only thing she was sure of was that she liked fighting. But now, she wasn't sure if she could do that anymore. All she knew was that she wanted to talk to Sunshine about possible things she could do at the bakery. Maybe she could be a cashier or something. She could do that with one hand, right? She sipped her milkshake, lost in thought for a moment until she heard Adrien thank her. She had mentioned him not being like his dad pretty casually, but he seemed touched by her words. She gave him a small smile in return, and nodded when he asked if it was time to head to her place. "Yeah. It's not too far away from the Nevermore Coffeehouse. Just go past it for, like, half a mile and you'll see it."

"How's the new house coming along?" Adrien asked. "I've never got to decorate my own place before. It's all yours too!"
She was getting upset again. She wasn't talking much, which was never a good sign when Yang was involved. He bit his lip, trying to think of how to make her laugh again. For the most part, he was focused on driving. She was right, getting to her place seemed easy. He tentatively pulled into a driveway and when Yang didn't protest, he assumed that was her place and he put the car in park. He turned in his seat and looked over at her.
"Chat got your tongue, Princess?" he teased.

Yang nodded. "Mm-hmm. Haven't done a whole lot with it yet. Riku chose most of the interior stuff, really." Yang had had no idea what to even do when it came to interior decorating, so she had let Riku handle most of it. She didn't know jack squat about choosing furniture that matched, or picking something to hang on the wall so there wasn't so much empty space. Although she had picked out her own bedspread, which had a lot of warm colors like red, yellow, and orange. Yang wasn't sure how well she'd sleep, since this was her first time home since her fight with Thrax, but she was at least willing to try. Chat pulled into her driveway, but he didn't immediately get out of the car. Instead, he turned to her and made a joke. Yang wasn't sure how to respond. There were a lot of things swirling around in her head right now. Thoughts of her arm and what had happened with Thrax, what Shadow had implied about Adrien's feelings towards her, the fact that he spent so much money on her without question. She decided to mention the third thought. "A little. I just...I know your wallet seems a little bottomless, but...should you really spend so much on me? I mean, I appreciate you taking care of the hospital bill and stuff. I just...don't want you to feel like I'm taking advantage of you." If it made Adrien happy to spend money on her, she was willing to let him do it to some degree. But she knew he feared about people liking him just for his money, and she didn't want him to think that about her.

"That's okay. You've got plenty of time to decorate." he said.
And she would have some time off after this. They were likely not to send her immediately back to work after the trauma she faced. So she would need something to take her mind off things. He might have suggested pictures but she would have teased him since that was how he made a living. Maybe he would go back to the theater to see if Yang had any old pictures of her and the kids there. She would probably like having those.
"Yang," he said softly. "I'm doing this because I want to. I know you'd never take advantage of me for my money. You're not like most people. But does... the money thing bother you?"
He couldn't help his wealth. It was a situation he was born into, just like Yang's was one she was thrust into. If he could spend a little and make her happy, he would be okay with that. Though, he was quite smitten with her and if she asked for a car, a trip to Paris and an expensive exotic pet, he was likely to get them all and ask what else she wanted. But she wasn't like that. She enjoyed the simple things in life. In a way, he envied her, but he also knew from the workers his father hired for things like gardening and cooking, that bills could lead to financial troubles and unhappy people. He didn't want to put that burden on Yang. Not as long as he could help it. He would likely swing back around to the hospital later to pay for Shadow. Try to do it anonymously.

Yang sighed. "I don't know. I guess...I've never met someone like you, in regards to money. I mean, I could ask you for almost anything and you could get it. It's a little...daunting." Not only could Adrien's money get nearly anything Yang wanted, his generous nature probably allowed him to get it with no regrets. She knew he wanted to be there for her and make her happy. But, there were some things money couldn't buy. As rich as Adrien was, he couldn't fix Yang, no matter how much he wanted. All the money in the world couldn't repair a broken mind, and that was what Yang felt like she had. Not to mention, she was still getting used to seeing Adrien as himself, and not Chat. In a way, the two were different. Chat didn't run around with a nice car and tons of money. She was going to have to get used to that.

"Money... is tough." he decided. "I paid the bill at the hospital so it would be one less thing for you to worry about. And well, lunch was because I promised."
If Yang hadn't had enough money for her stay at the hospital, she would have been in debt, if she was in debt, she couldn't pay other bills. If she couldn't pay other bills, then she lost thing, like food, electric, water. Those were all worst case scenarios but he was just trying to protect her from that. As for their meal, he was fairly certain that the person who suggested the date paid. But it was probably only a date in his head. He didn't want to push her if she wasn't ready for dating. He would be happy enough just being nearby.
"We should probably eat soon. Or the burgers will be greasy messes... Um, greasier messes," he corrected.

Yang sighed again. She just wondered how long Adrien would be willing to pay for all her stuff. His dad was bound to catch on eventually, unless he never paid attention to his son's credit card bill. And what would happen then? But, there wasn't any sense in worrying about something that hadn't happen yet. At least, that was what she told herself. Her brain tended to imagine a lot of bad scenarios these days, and it was hard to get it to calm down and think positively for a change. Adrien mentioned the burgers and Yang glanced down. She had almost forgotten about them. "Right. Let's head inside." She opened the car dor before sticking her milkshake into the crook of her left arm and fishing out her house keys with her left hand. Lucky for her, Omar had dropped them off for her at the hospital. She managed to get out of the car without too much difficulty, managing to shut the door with a push of her foot. It frustrated her a little now that her hands, or hand, could get full so easily now. But at least she could carry something.

Adrien would have gotten the door for her, but Yang was a little faster than he was. Probably determined to do it on her own. Like she usually was. But he wanted her to know it was okay to get help every now and then. No one would blame her for it. She was already out of the car before he could stop her or move to try to help. So he grabbed the bags of food and followed her, almost like a scolded puppy with his tail between his legs. He felt like he had just stuck his foot in his mouth. He didn't want money to come between them.
"So... how are the kids?" he asked.

Yang wasn't sure if Adrien changed the topic because of her response, or his reluctance to talk about money. Either way, he asked about the kids as she unlocked the front door. "Okay, I guess," she replied. "They're worried about me, Penny and Cody especially so since they're farther away. Their grandmother's making plans to bring them down sometime, once I've been home for a while." She avoided talking about Louie directly, only because it made her stomach churn whenever she did. Things were still rough between the two of them. Not because Louie resented Yang for going after him, or because Yang blamed him for the loss of her arm. Nothing could be farther from that. They just didn't know what to say around each other. Louie felt guilty about what had happened, and reading Yang's thoughts didn't necessarily make him feel better. He could see that she didn't blame him, and only blamed herself for what she said and for trying to take on Thrax by herself. That just tended to increase his guilt even more. Jenny, unfortunately, was stuck as a mediator, trying to get the two on the terms they used to be on. But, who knew how long that would take. Yang shook the thoughts away as she flicked on the lights. The entryway was short, but at least there was still one. A living room was right ahead, with a small kitchen on the left and the bedroom further down on the right. It wasn't a whole lot, but it was just right for Yang. Already, she could feel herself glad to be home, and her mood picked up a little bit. "Well, here it is. My bachelor pad," she joked.

"I'm... A visit might do you some good," he said. "Those kids love you so much."
He was trying to make a light spin of it. Trying to cheer her up. Anything to see her smile. Yang gave those kids the world. Now that they were back home with their biological families, or adoptive ones, Adrien was afraid Yang feel like she lost her purpose. He was at a loss for how to help her and it killed him to just be unable to do anything even though he was right there next to her.
"I think it's great," he told her.
It was far more comfortable than his house would ever be. Stiff angles, silver and white and just no. This, even if it had been decorated by someone else, looked far more comfortable and better than his house by leaps and bounds.

Yang just nodded. A visit would probably feel good, although she had an idea of what to expect. Her kids would be worried about her, she would do her best to act like everything was okay. Heck, she did that even back when they were living on the streets. Anytime her kids got anxious or scared, she acted like it would all turn out okay, that she would fix everything. Of course, now, it was harder to pretend though. Acting optimistic when there was a hole in the roof or not enough money was one thing. Acting optimistic when Yang's arm was gone or when the doctors saying she was showing symptoms of PTSD was an entirely different matter. Yang didn't seen the point of burdening her kids with her troubles, though. They were children. They had their own lives to live. Besides, it wasn't like they could do anything about it.
On a different note, Adrien seemed to like the house, despite the fact that it probably looked very different from his. Yang wondered if she would ever see the inside of his mansion someday. Then again, maybe she shouldn't. His dad would probably question why he was bringing somebody like her around, or even get mad. Besides, it wasn't like Adrien particularly liked his home anyway. To him, it was a cage, and his dad was in charge of the door. He could choose whether it open it, close it, lock it up. At least here, the door would always be open for him. She chuckled a little as a thought occurred to her. "Funny. Usually, it's Robin Hood showing Maid Marian his humble abode, not the other way around," she joked as she headed over to the kitchen. The table was small, but still enough to seat her and a few other people if she chose. She sat down, managing to put down her milkshake without dropping it.

"Since when did we ever abide by gender roles, Princess?" Adrien teased.
He set the bagged food down on the kitchen table. He was beyond glad to see her smiling. It was a relief. Even i it wasn't as sincere as they usually were. He didn't expect her to be better overnight. If he could he would have stayed as long as she would let him, but he would stay until his welcome had been worn out. He started to fish through the bag and pulled out the food.
"Besides, isn't it more fun to break the rules?" he asked, with a very Chat Noir-like smile.
Breaking the rules was how Adrien survived his oppressive father with his sanity in tact. Chat Noir, was just his way of helping the city, and well, bringing down the rich fat cats who thought that all they had to do was throw money at a problem to make it go away. They thought enough money and poof. Problem gone. It wasn't so simple. Life wasn't that simple.

"That's true," Yang admitted. Breaking the rules was something she used to do on a frequent basis. Now though, she wasn't sure if she could be so daring anymore. She doubted the police thought she was such a menace to society anymore, especially now that Frollo was gone. Having cops monitor her for a while had been to appease him, and assure him that she wasn't about to start breaking the law again. Now that he was dead, that threat wasn't hanging over her head anymore. Still, she wondered how much rule breaking she could do anymore. She wasn't about to start pick-pocketing again. Underground fighting was out of the question. Maybe her rebellious days were over. She wasn't sure. Regardless, she popped open the little box her burger was in. Somehow was still hot, despite all the talking she and Adrien had been doing. Personally, she was surprised she could hold the thing in one hand. It seemed like whoever made it had tried to cram in as much bacon as possible. "Now this is what I call a lunch," she said before taking a bite. Needless to say, it was a very nice change from the hospital food she had been eating for the past few weeks. Bacon cheeseburgers weren't exactly seen as healthy for patients.
