So this is Bellerouge.
Large lavender eyes took in the surroundings of the French Quarter, taking in each face that passed by, every restaurant and shop that was within view. A small wind picked up, blowing hair as white as snow about the slender frame of the woman who stood demurely against one of the old-fashioned light posts that dominated the streets. Most of the people who strolled by didn't even notice the woman but the few who did, mostly men, couldn't help but stare at the beautiful figure as they continued on their way.
An angel. To everyone who spotted her, they couldn't all help but think the same thing. The woman looked like an angel.
How very, very wrong they were.
Lilith smiled softly as her eyes searched the streets, looking for prey. She had arrived in Bellerouge only a day before and was quite famished. For so long she had waited to enter the world of Mortal things and upon her arrival she had been pleased to discover the rampant corruption that ran through the city like an infection through a body. Yet there was still enough innocence and good present to offer her a challenge.
Good. It was no fun at all if the fight had already died out in those she sought to corrupt and consume.

Weiss frowned. It was getting dark out. She hadn't expected to stay out for so long. But, wandering around the city could make somebody lose track of time, and Weiss was no exception. Of course, now that it was wasn't so bright out, her little shadow spirits loved to move about when they thought she wasn't looking. She could see them skittering along the sidewalk, popping out of an alleyway, peering out at her from the side of a building. Weiss bit her lip. She didn't know how they did it. Somehow, they always knew how to move so she could see them, but others couldn't. The closest anyone had gotten to seeing them was just spotting a bit of movement out of the corner of their eye. But, by the time they turned around, the spirits had found a hiding place. Weiss wasn't sure if they were doing it on purpose or not, but either way, it was annoying. It even made her feel a little crazy.
If she was the only one who could see these guys, what did it say about her mental health? But she pushed that thought aside. She wasn't imagining things. These guys were real. She could see them now, using her own shadow as a hiding place. She glared at them, but they didn't respond. They usually didn't. They were awfully silent, for spirits. Weiss wasn't sure how to get them to tell her what they wanted, or why they were following her around. Stuff like this was usually reserved for experienced witch doctors, or those who strayed to the dark side. Weiss was paranoid that people would judge her if they found out she had summoned them. She let out a sigh. She could fix this. She was smart enough. There was no other option.

Suddenly, Lilith sensed something unusual approaching at a slow pace. She turned her head and immediately set eyes upon a young woman walking only a few yards away. To the naked human eye the woman appeared no different from anyone else strolling along the French Quarter, perhaps better dressed but nothing more.
To Lilith, however, she looked far from ordinary. Indeed, she could sense the spirits that hid in the girl's shadow, could practically taste the restless energy and malignant potential they exuded. And it intrigued her. Perhaps this one pale girl was worth a closer look.
With that, she stepped away from her place beneath the streetlamp and made her way gracefully around the other bodies that blocked the way. She paused for only a moment in her movement, waiting until the clearly distracted girl was only a few steps away before moving forward into her path. Immediately the woman bumped into her and she staggered slightly, as if the push had unbalanced her, before turning to face the girl.
"Oh, please do forgive me! I hope I didn't harm you!"

Weiss didn't even notice that somebody was in her way until it was too late. She bumped into them, her feet scrabbling backwards in the hopes of staying upright. She looked up to see that it was a woman, with pale blonde hair and big doe eyes. Her temper got the better of her and she snapped "Why don't you watch where you're-" She suddenly stopped, realizing how much of a bitch she sounded like. She had responded to a similar way to Sunshine the other day, and that had gotten things off with a rocky start between them. Yelling wasn't going to solve anything. She wasn't really mad. She was just under a lot of stress at the moment. Besides, the woman did look like she was sorry. Weiss let out a breath, and responded more calmly this time. "I'm sorry, I'm fine. Are you okay?"

Lilith let her eyes grow wide at the woman's aggressive response and allowed false tears to threaten, as if what the girl had said truly had hurt her. When the girl then asked if she was okay, she lightly nodded her head but let the hurt expression linger on her delicate features.
"I...I think so. I didn't mean to run into you. It's just so distracting here, what with everything going on and all..."
She let her gaze fall to the ground and lightly played with a length of her silvery hair, the picture of shyness.

Crap, Weiss thought. The woman seemed to be the sensitive type. Weiss saw the way she shrank back at her angry words. That seemed to be the typical reaction when people activated Weiss's bitchy mode. Or, they just got angry and yelled back at her. The woman said she had just gotten distracted by everything around her. "Looks like we're in the same boat in that retrospect," Weiss said. She had been distracted as well, more with her thoughts than her surroundings though. Then again, when was she ever not distracted by her thoughts? It seemed like more and more kept swirling around her head and she didn't know how to just make them stop for a little while. At least her shadow spirits were hiding away and not clinging to her anymore. Still, Weiss could feel them watching her. It was almost like they were waiting for something to happen. Weiss couldn't imagine what though. The only thing going on was this conversation between her and... Weiss blinked, realizing she didn't know the woman's name. She figured she might as well make an introduction. Maybe that would make things a little better between them. "I'm Weiss, Weiss LaFayette," she said, holding out her hand for the woman to shake.

The young woman's response couldn't have been more perfect or more predictable. It was amazing how easily a sad face and a few false tears could fool the people of this world, but Lilith kept these thoughts carefully concealed while her face merely registered hesitance as the woman extended her hand and introduced herself as Weiss.
The Demonn allowed a timid smile to appear on her lips as she reached forward to take the girl's hand into her own.
"Hello, I'm Eve. It's a pleasure to meet...."
However, she paused as she spoke and allowed her expression to change from a soft happiness to a look of fear and concern. Her hand clenched sharply around Weiss' for a moment before releasing it almost as if it burned. It was all part of the show of course, as she glanced towards where the shadow figures were hiding as if she had only just realized they were there.
"Oh my..... those shadows...."

Eve. It seemed fitting, for a woman as delicate and soft-spoken as this one. She didn't seem quite as upset as before. Maybe Weiss was getting better at coming back from social blunders. However, her next comment made her blood run cold. She whipped around, like a mother that could hear their child doing something bad. Her shadow spirits were out of sight, but she could still sense them. Had Eve actually seen them? Could she sense them nearby? Weiss wasn't sure what to say and all that came out was a confused "Um...what?" If Eve could spot these spirits now, others might too. And then questions would be asked. And Weiss would probably get into deep trouble, even more than she already was. Her parents had been pissed off enough that she had tried to take on Thrax by herself. If they found out she had ended up summoning those spirits too, they'd probably explode. If Weiss played dumb, would Eve be convinced that she had just imagined them?

Lilith could practically taste the fear and worry coming off the young woman, Weiss, as she whipped around and searched for the shadows. She tried to play dumb but her emotions read like an amateur poker player and the demon knew she had unnerved the girl. She was clearly uncertain and that would make her easy to manipulate.
"Those shadows, I saw one clinging to your own shadow and.....and I felt something..."
She let her words grow softer, as if speaking of these shadows would bring them forward. A hint of fear seemed to flash deep within her purple eyes, but it was as real as the name she had given Weiss.

Weiss's stomach churned. Could anybody else see the shadow spirits? Was it just Eve? What the heck should she do? She wasn't even sure what the spirits wanted, or how they had been clumsy enough to reveal themselves to Eve. It was almost as if they wanted her to know she was there. Weiss decided that the next best thing was to assure Eve. The woman still seemed a little scared of them, but Weiss was sure that they wouldn't do anything to her. The only person they had ever attacked was Thrax, and that was practically because Weiss had ordered them to. She had been in danger, the shadow spirits had come to her aide, so she used them. Of course, it was hard to remember what exactly the thought process had been at the time. Weiss had lost so much control, she acted more on how she felt than what was logical. "Look, they're harmless, okay? They don't bite. I promise," Weiss said.

'Eve' shook her head at Weiss' words, her hand clutching at the front of her dress as she spoke to the young woman.
"They are harmless now, yes, but I can sense the danger they pose. You are in danger......"
She suddenly closed her mouth as if she felt she had said too much. Inwardly, however, she could only smirk at these spirits that clung to the woman. What had she gotten up to that would cause such beings to latch onto her? Clearly she was powerful without realizing it.

This wasn't good. Eve seemed really worried, almost on the verge of panicking. What if she told somebody? Weiss had no idea what to do. "Look, I'm still figuring out what they want, okay? I just need some time. Once I do that, I can figure out how to get them to leave. Everything will be fine." Weiss wondered if she was really saying this to assure Eve, or to assure herself. She was still trying to figure out how to make the shadow spirits go away, but at the same time, she was almost getting used to them. Sure, they irritated her every once in a while, but other than that, she hardly batted an eye whenever she spotted them. They were just a constant presence now. Weiss wasn't sure what that said about her.

'Eve' paused at Weiss's response and stared at her intently for so long that the atmosphere between them seemed to fill with restless energy. The expression on her lovely face was one of uncertainty, of someone weighing the pros and cons of their next action.
At long last she close her violet eyes and let out a deep sigh. When she next spoke it was slowly as if the words we're being pulled out of her against her will.
"Perhaps..... perhaps I could help you discover what it is these spirits want."
Silently, Lilith waited to see if this young pale girl would turn her offer away.... or fall prey to her bait.

Weiss could fee the shadow spirits watching her, intent on seeing which decision she made. Weiss wasn't sure what they wanted. Did they want to get somebody involved? Would Eve even be able to help that much? She seemed so delicate, not the type of person at all who would know much about creatures like these. But, Weiss had been coming up on empty for a while now, and she wanted some answers. Sure, she had made plans to seek out some ancient voodoo texts, but here was Eve right here, right now, making an offer to help. "I guess it couldn't hurt for you to try," she said. "Do you know much about voodoo?" Weiss wasn't sure if Eve was a witch doctor or not. Maybe she was just a regular witch? That was better than nothing.

"Yes, a little bit."
In truth, Lilith did possess some knowledge of the practice of voodoo along with several other 'branches' that fell under the extremely broad term of witchcraft. As long as it involved summoning a Demon or similar being, she knew a bit about it. And part of her was indeed curious as to why these spirits lingered about this girl. She didn't appear to be anything special but Lilith was a creature who practically embodied the saying that 'things are rarely what they appear to be.'
"You see, I'm a witch and I've dabbled a bit in certain voodoo rituals. Maybe...maybe I could be a neutral party and speak to those shadow spirits?"
She lowered her gaze to the ground as if nervous at the admission she was a witch. However, her eyes darted up briefly to look into the blue orbs of the woman to show she was sincere in her offer.
