"Speak to them?" Weiss wondered if Eve could really do that. So far, the shadow spirits hadn't said anything to her. At least, anything that she could understand. Sometimes they hissed like cats or howled like wolves, but there were never any intelligible words. Weiss hadn't even thought about them possibly knowing how to speak. If they did though, she wondered why they hadn't said anything to her yet. Were they just waiting for the right time? Who knew? She glanced back at them, where they were hidden inside a dark alley. It was hard to tell how they were reacting to this conversation. Would they speak to Eve? Or would they just ignore her? It looked like there was only one way to find out. "Let's...go where they are," she said, heading into the alley. The shadow spirits skittered around her feet as she approached, like a dog that was happy that its master had come home.

Lilith waited, her keen instincts telling her that Weiss couldn't resist the opportunity for help in regards to these unknown spirits. And once again her instincts proved accurate when the young woman stated they should go to where the spirits were. Concealing a smirk, she followed the pale girl into the nearby alley, her lavender gaze seeming to take in every inch of the alley in only the briefest of glances.
And there they were, still concealed to the naked human eye in the darker shadows of the alley but easily spotted by a Demon. They moved towards Weiss like she was an old friend, someone they had longed to see and greet. However, they kept a fair distance from Lilith, sensing the energy that lurked within her but uncertain as to how to react.
"They are fond of you. That is good. If they had sinister intentions planned for you, then most likely you would have already gone insane...or be dead."
She regarded the spirits a moment longer. Yes, they were powerful and could even pose a threat to Demons, but they were only as strong as the one who controlled them. And Weiss had no idea how to even use them. It was the perfect kind of situation for Lilith to manipulate to her own advantage if she played her cards right. After a few more moments of carefully observing the dark entities that seemed to almost caress the young girl, Lilith spoke.
"What is it you wish me to ask them?"

Weiss figured that much, although she hadn't been willing to admit it. These spirits liked being around her. They liked being where she was, even if she didn't necessarily want them there. Even now, they curled at her feet or rested on her shoulder. Whenever they touched her, Weiss jumped slightly. They felt cold, and she was still getting used to that. However, as much as they swirled and crawled around her, they didn't go near Eve. It was almost like they were wary of her, like they were keeping an eye on her in case she tried anything. Weiss didn't know why they'd be so paranoid though. What was the worst Eve could do? Weiss thought for a moment before answering her question. "What do they want? That's what I want to know." She felt like that was the best place to start. If it was within her power, maybe she could give them what they wanted so they would leave her alone.

"Very well."
'Eve' nodded as she stepped up next to Weiss and, without hesitating, grabbed a single strand of the girl's white hair before pulling. The strand easily parted with the girl's head.
"My apologies, but I will require this for my spell."
While this was true enough, the strand of hair could also serve other purposes for Lilith. With a secretive smirk, she stepped away from Weiss and towards the spirits as her slender fingers began to weave the piece of hair into a knotted shape. The spirits kept the distance between themselves and 'Eve' until she began to speak.
Slowly, softly, she began to weave her spell as she wove the hair in her palms. Her voice seemed to echo back on itself and the words, belonging to no human language, sounded more like a lullaby then an incantation. Slowly, the spirits stopped in their retreat and remained still as she approached. When she was only a foot away from the first dark shadow, she paused in her singing spell and held up Weiss' hair, now knotted into an usual shape. Taking in a soft breath, she blew through the opening in the knot.
Immediately, a mist-like substance that was pure white shot through with hints of blue appeared and approached the spirits. Still frozen in place, the spirits did nothing as the mist collected around them and seemed to disappear into them. Once the last trace of the mist had disappeared, 'Eve' smiled softly before motioning to Weiss.
"Now they will speak in your own tongue. Ask them your questions."

It didn't really hurt when Eve reached over and plucked a hair from Weiss's head, but she could hear the spirits hissing softly in response. What was with them? They were acting like helicopter parents. Weiss had to admit though, Eve seemed pretty sure what she was doing. It looked like most of her timidness was gone by this point. She cast her spell confidently. Weiss wondered if she could find it in any of her spell books. It might come handy in the future. When Eve said she could ask the spirits her questions, she turned to look at them. "Okay, what do you guys want?" she asked, folding her arms across her chest. "All you do is follow me around all day and hide from everybody else. What's the point in that?"
The spirits were quiet for a moment. Weiss wasn't sure if they were going to answer. But they soon did, which startled Weiss a little. Their voices were like the wind howling at night: a soft sound, but not exactly gentle either.
"We only wish to protect you. You are our mistress. We are here to serve you."
Weiss frowned. "I don't need any protection. I can take care of myself just fine."
"But you're Weiss LaFayette. Anyone could do you harm. Kidnappers, muggers...demons."
They glared at Eve as they said the last word, although Weiss had no idea why. Were they going to be wary of any strangers that crossed her path?

'Eve' stood slightly behind Weiss as she started to ask the spirits her questions and appeared to do nothing more then watch silently and listen. However, in her palm rested the strand of hair from Weiss and the spell she had cast over it. And while the spell did indeed give Weiss the opportunity to speak to the spirits, it did far more then that.
As the spirits spoke, Lilith smiled at them. Yes, they knew what she was but now thanks to the efforts of their own 'mistress' they could do nothing to reveal her true identity or even move against her. Upon first sensing Weiss the She-Demon had known the power of these spirits, could scent the blood of a Demon they had harmed on them and instinctively knew they could posed a real threat to any being that Weiss sent them against.
Now, however, now they could do nothing to her. With the possession of Weiss's hair and her own breath seeped into it, attacking her would now by like attacking Weiss. And even better, she now had a small hold over them because of it. True, she couldn't control them like Weiss, should she ever learn how to use her powers. However, she could manipulate their smaller actions as she did now.
The spirits were on the verge of revealing 'Eve' for what she really was when she simply squeezed the hair within her palm. Immediately, the spirits went from revealing her to simply giving the cryptic warning of demons. It really was such a small thing, but Lilith reveled in it.

Eve was quiet throughout all this. Weiss wasn't sure what she was thinking. Had she seen anything like this before? Either way, the shadow spirits didn't seem entirely fond of her. Weiss hoped they didn't act like that around every person she met, otherwise, she was going to get irritated pretty quickly. "I don't need any protection. You fought off Thrax for me once, but he's not here now. You don't need to stalk me anymore," she said, sending the spirits an annoyed look.
"You think he's the only danger in this city? You're sorely mistaken. Besides, it's not like you have anyone else looking out for you."
Weiss opened her mouth to make an angry retort, but quickly shut it when she realized the spirits had a point. Nobody was really looking out for her, not really. Her parents didn't care too much about her. Her brother had left her behind. And her friends had their own problems to worry about. They couldn't take care of her when they had to look out for themselves. She had even thought about before how the spirits had been around her the most over the past few weeks.
We just want you to be with us. Is that so wrong? We could make you more powerful. You could do things nobody else could, things they wouldn't even dare.
Weiss jumped. Those last few sentences hadn't been spoken aloud. They had been spoken right inside her head. And she was fearful of what these spirits were implying. They couldn't possibly be talking about dark voodoo, could they? Those kinds of witch doctors were always talked about as the bad guys during her childhood. They made deals with the Devil, used voodoo dolls to kill people, and resurrected the dead to do their bidding. She had been told all her life to stay away from things like that, that if she got in too deep, she could never come back out. And yet, the only reason these shadow spirits were here was because she had summoned them. Didn't that mean she was already heading down the wrong path? She wasn't sure.

'Eve' silently watched the whole exchange between Weiss and the spirits, her hand lightly holding the braided hair in case she needed to redirect the spirits in what they might reveal. However, she could sense that the greatest part of their focus was on the young woman standing before her and little more.
What an interesting specimen you're turning out to be, my dear. In fact, if you don't squander the powers you have been given, you might just become one of my new playthings. And I could certainly use some new playthings. All the other ones are dead.
Outwardly, she appeared wary but calm as she listened to the discussion going on before her. Suddenly, she too a small step forward. The spirits immediately focused intensely on her but there was little they could do now so she ignored them and instead spoke to Weiss.
"My dear, I know it is no place of mine but....."
She paused, acting as if she wanted to give Weiss some advice but was afraid she might not want to take it. Honestly, sometimes playing the part in these little charades was almost as good as feasting on innocent souls. Almost...

Weiss could feel the dark spirits coiling around her shoulders like snakes. They seemed entirely focused on Eve. Weiss couldn't tell if they were wary of her or just wondering what she might do. She did wonder what she thought about all this. Had she seen anything like this before? Weiss knew a lot about voodoo, but this was out of her league. This was dark stuff, things her teachers and family had forbidden her to explore. And she was caught in the middle of it all. She didn't know what to do. Having the dark spirits around to make her more powerful...it did sound in line with what she wanted. The main reason she wanted to be the voodoo queen was because of the power. If she had that position, nobody could treat her like a doll anymore. She could be in control for once in her life. If these spirits could help her achieve that goal, then maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to keep them around. She glanced up when Eve spoke. It sounded like she wanted to make a suggestion, but was hesitant. Weiss gave her a nod. "Speak," she said. If Eve had any insight into this, she would appreciate it.

'Eve' waited and watched Weiss until she gave her word of approval for her to continue speaking. She gave a small nod of her head, causing her blindingly white hair to shimmer.
"These spirits....have they brought any harm to you? Have they hurt anyone around you that you did not wish for them to hurt? Or have they simply protected you from these dangers of which they speak?"
She paused here, her large and lovely eyes moving slowly over the shadows as the rested around the young girl. In her palm the strands of spell-cast hair rested comfortably. The shadows did nothing.
"If so, perhaps the wiser course of action is to utilize the powers that you have been given. Control and dominion over such spirits, that is no power to scoff at but neither one to use blindly and without thought."

Weiss shook her head. "No, nothing like that," she replied. "They...they helped me, once. I was fighting off a...pretty powerful demon, and they came to my aide. I don't know what would have happened if they hadn't shown up." Really, that was the truth. As mysterious as these shadows were, and slightly annoying, they had saved Weiss's life. They had given her enough power to go with Thrax head-to-head. She had given him an injury that had matched her own. Thinking back on how she had felt at that moment...it was weird. She had never had that much power coursing through her at once. It had felt like her veins were on fire. And she was so angry. She had matched her shadow spirits' ferocity. Remembering it made her slightly afraid though. Having that much power was daunting. But wasn't power what Weiss wanted? Eve even seemed to think along the same lines, and suggested getting some control over them. Weiss glanced at the shadow spirits, who were still coiled around her shoulders and resting at her feet. When they had fought against Thrax together, she had been in total control over them. It was like they had known exactly how to synchronize their movements, so they could attack as one. Could she attain that same level of control again? "You really think...that's the best option?" she asked Eve. "My family...I don't know what they'd think about them. This kind of stuff has always been labeled dark voodoo."
"Light, dark, why make such a big fuss about them? People fear dark magic because they don't understand it. But you do. And you could use it."
Despite the shadow spirits being wary of Weiss, they seemed to agree with Eve on that much. Weiss still felt unsure. Taking advice from shadow spirits and a stranger she had just met didn't seem like the wisest decision. But who else could understand her? Her family would freak out. So would any of her so-called "friends." She was different, after her fight with Thrax. She felt like she had changed, looked at the world in a new light. And so far, Eve seemed to be the only person who might understand that.

"Light and dark are not the same as good and evil, my dear. Just look at this city."
Here, 'Eve' gestured gracefully at their surroundings and the people that could by seen walking by the alley entrance. Her expression was one of sympathy and her words were soothing, calming in a way that was both sweet and yet slightly unnerving.
"Evil wears many disguises. Why, only just the other day I heard of a dead judge, a man who seemed righteous and good, was discovered to be corrupted. But was that man not human and therefore a creature of the light? As for good, you need glance no further then the Others Unit of the Bellerouge Police Department."
Here, she paused for a moment and a strange look briefly seemed to flash across her face before she continued.
"Many would claim Others are beings of darkness and yet this Unit has worked tirelessly to protect and serve the people of this city."
She looked back at Weiss as she spoke, her words sounding so reasonable and right coming from her lips.

Eve seemed to echo what the shadow spirits said. Light and dark, good and evil, they seemed to be a matter of opinion mostly. And she had a point about Frollo. Weiss had heard Elsa complain about him more than once, how he even though he championed for justice, he was a pretty slimy guy underneath. Her stomach churned at the mention of the police department. She knew they did good there, but there was always a part of her that felt like it had taken Riku away from her. He had left his family behind, and he had found a new one there. It was hard, not to feel like she had been replaced. She gave a sigh. Really, what did she have to lose? If these shadow spirits wanted to stick around, maybe getting to understand them wasn't such a bad thing to do. And if she understood them, she could get them to do her bidding. "I guess I might as well try," she said. It was the closest thing she could give to a "yes," for now. Regardless, her shadow spirits seemed glad at that answer. They gave happy little hisses at her feet and brushed against her head before settling on her shoulder again. For beings of darkness, they sure could express a lot of emotions. Wariness, happiness, protectiveness. It was interesting, in a way.

'Eve' gave a small smile as Weiss agreed to give controlling the spirits a try. Truly, she was pleased with how things were going. If Weiss had been stupid enough to turn the spirits and the power they offered away, her potential usefulness to the She-Demon would have ended then and there. Now, however, the young woman had decided to hold onto the spirits and could become an invaluable piece in the game Lilith was about to play.
Still, it was too early to start quite yet and there was no rush. And besides, there were other pieces to collect first.
"I am glad to see that I was able to help you, Weiss. And I know I might be presuming too much, but should you ever need help with your spirits again...."
Here she paused once more, the smallest of faux blushes appearing on her cheeks.

"Oh, uh, sure. I'll find you if I need help," Weiss promised. The spirits frowned, not seeming too pleased with that. "Don't give me that look," Weiss hissed, not liking how they were acting. Seriously, what was up with them? Maybe they were just a little possessive of her. They probably preferred working with her than another person. That seemed like a reasonable answer. Still, they had to get better around other people if Weiss was ever going to reveal them someday. She figured she'd have to, at some point. She just had to wait for the right time. Then again, would there ever be a right time? She'd probably get disapproval, no matter when she told someone about them. Maybe she was just putting off the inevitable. She'd have to think about it.
