"I'm just...surprised is all. No one's brought this up, and you're pretty much open about...well...everything else."
Elsa had grabbed a napkin and was letting it sit. The sting in her hand was going away, and that meant the small pinprick would be healing. She released the napkin just in time to see her thumb was no longer bleeding, and the puncture was gone.
"And like you said, you invite people from the BPD over. This guy is...well," she cleared her throat, "how did you and this gentleman meet?"
That should have been the first question. Elsa kicked herself inwardly. Here she was, a lawyer, forgetting that the most important questions had to be asked first. Anna was a friendly person, which meant many people could have used her genuine kindness to dangerous means.

Anna merely sat in silence as she finished off her second marshmallow, chewing slowly as Elsa took care of her punctured finger and tried to convey the point she was making. After a few false starts, Elsa finally managed to ask the main question she was struggling for.
"Well, I met Axel at the Bourbon Graisse. Popped in one day for a drink and found a new bartender and struck up a conversation. And it just went from there, I guess."
Anna had picked out a strawberry and was slowly swirling it counterclockwise in the fondue pot as she spoke about first meeting Axel. Really it hadn't been much different from the way she approached any new person she met. The only thing that HAD made it any different was the incident with the creeps that had followed her out of the bar and Axel following to make sure she was safe.
"I made him dinner as a thank you for helping me deal with some guys following me one night. That's all."
However, a part of her couldn't help but question this. Was that really all it was?

"Oh, the new bartender who everyone says is really good? I met him once. Same story as you"
Elsa had heard of...no, she had actually met Axel in the flesh, They had bonded over sea salt ice cream. Well, yes. They had just started a conversation about powers, likes and dislikes. He was a friendly, if not mysterius, figure. Anna picked a good man to eat with.
"What'd you charm with? One of Sunshine's recipes?"

"Nope, just some lamb racks and some lava cake. Although the way he thanked me, you'd think Axel thought I was feeding him edible gold or a meal sent from Heaven. Honestly, I just thought I needed to thank him and a homemade dinner seemed like a good way to do it."
Anna finally pulled the strawberry from the chocolate and bit off the entire fruit at its steam before chewing slowly and swallowing. Elsa sure seemed awfully interested in the fact that Axel had come over to her place for dinner and they had spent some time alone together. What exactly did she think they had done? Still, thinking about all of this suddenly made Anna's cheeks feel warm for some reason. Perhaps she was coming down with the flu or something?
"Well, I think I've imposed on you long enough AND inhaled enough of your chocolate to count as grand theft. I should probably get going."

"And if you want to get started studying, maybe dripping chocolate on them isn't exactly the...smartest option. I don't think the professor intended cacao beans as part of the formula."
She didn't need to ask anymore questions in regards to Axel. Anna had made a lovely meal, a meal Elsa herself had eaten when she came over to visit the medical examiner one time...but...wait...was that color forming on Anna's cheeks. Elsa chose pressing the issue would irritate her or end up it comign out in the wrong way. Anna would learn, she was smarter than people rally gave her credit.
"I'm glad I could be of assistance, Anna. Please...don't hesitate if you have questions."
Elsa meant it not in the protective sense, but as a friend. She had someone crush that loneliness, and she was glad to know that, really, it had been another young woman who may been in over her head, but her bubbly, good intentions broke the ice of sadness and despair. ((End thread))
