It was deja vu all over again. Only instead of talking to a girl dying from NIDS and looking at a city asking what it was like, Shadow was talking to a half-phoenix who had gone through enough shit in her life to have understandable trauma, talking about the next big crime wave. The breakin had been resolved, and an asylum to take in Other criminals, along with several insane criminals, had been erected in the bayou. Fanatics attacking the city was highly likely. The Sapien memory still made him shiver inside. The good news was the Sapien issue was under control and now sold in drug stores for appropriate reasons. Shadow looked at the huge magnolia tree from Yang's backyard, a white flower nodding in the breeze, before answering. "It wouldn't surprise me. But when it comes, I'm not going to back down without a fight. None of us will."

"That's good." And Yang did mean that. While she still worried over the welfare of her Others unit friends sometimes, she wouldn't want anyone else protecting the people in this city. If they didn't succeed at something, they tried their hardest to make sure they didn't fail again. If there was one thing Yang had hope in, it was them. "Just don't...you know...get shot or anything. Otherwise I'll have to work in visiting you guys whenever I go to the hospital," she said jokingly. She knew injuries kind of came with the job, but still. So far, her friends had been lucky and had suffered minor injuries. If any of them got hurt as badly as she had, she didn't know what she'd do.

Yang's faith in the Others Unit put a lot of weight off of Shadow. While the media called them monsters or said they were making unnecessary adjustments for the city, having one person say yes you can was better than nothing. She asked that he not get shot, and he shrugged with a smirk crossing his face. "It'll take more than a gunshot to take me down. But, hey, a hospital visit from someone you worked hard to take care of is all that matters." He never had the "luxury" on an intense injury. Outside of the stab Frollo gave him, he hadn't been burned or, well, amputated.

Yang gave a little laugh. That was true. Visits while in the hospital could make things a little more cheerful. Although, Yang had to admit, she had been a bit beyond consoling when she was there after her arm had been cut off. That was the lowest she had ever been, and she wasn't sure if she had gotten any higher since. Sure, she could put on a happy face and have some okay days. But mental wise, she still felt like she hadn't improved since she had first gotten to the hospital. Her phone buzzed at that moment though, as a reminder went off. She glanced at the screen before saying "Speaking of hospitals, looks like I need to set an appointment," she said. "You can stick around and watch T.V. or something if you want."

Abut the same time Yang's phone buzzed, Shadow's went off. He looked at the number, recognizing it as work. He picked it up, answering her question with. "I might have to take a rain check on that. But next time, yes, a movie night or something is needed." He picked up the phone, answering with his one word answer. 'Griffiths." He listened in carefully to the crime. Apparently a woman had been found with her legs bound by rope and dangled from the ceiling and lacerations were made in vital parts of the body. Despite looking dead, she was alive, having attacked several cops on site. Shadow's brow furrowed; voodoo activity perhaps. It was all he thought of. "Okay, I'll be over." He hung up, giving Yang a genuine smile. Well, duty may have called, but he got to talk to a friend before hand.

Shadow's phone went off soon after. It looked like he was needed, maybe to look over a crime scene or something. Still, a movie night did sound like a good idea. "I should go through the Buddy Cop collection and see if any of them are actually accurate," she said with a laugh. Having a movie night with Shadow sounded like something fun and relaxing. She wasn't sure if their next conversation would actually be perky for once, but at least she could talk to him easily. She gave him a hug before he headed out the door. "You take care, okay?" she said. And she hoped he would. Whether it was his job, or his love problems with Sunshine, Yang hoped Shadow would still get through it all okay. She may not have a whole lot of hope for herself, but she still wished for him to get through his problems.

Shadow punched her playfully in the arm. Cop movies; what better way to tear up a person's creative liberties tan point out what was right and what was wrong when creating that environment. He'd have to pitch the idea to Sunshine provided she wasn't either working Nevermore or going out on a date. In fact, part of him realized maybe he should give Riku the 'wing-man' talk. It would be the only time that elephant in the room could be addressed, and Yang was right; the sooner he got it out, the better. This was followed by a one-arm hug from Yang, that, well, put him off guard. The only other person who hugged him was Sunshine. So, it touched him she Yang would trust him that much. He returned it, nodding at Yang in gratitude before skating off in the vicinity he was asked to check out. ((end thread))
