Weiss knew her parents were getting a little short with her lately. In their minds, they had a good reason why. Weiss was spending most of her time shut up in her room, with the door locked. She'd come out any time her parents wanted her to, and she went to any social events they told her to go to. But other than that, she avoided other people. Her mom especially was giving her funny looks lately, and Weiss worried that she knew what was going on. But, she never focused on that for long. She had bigger things on her mind, like learning new voodoo magic so she could protect herself if Thrax ever showed up again. Ever since she'd heard that Adeline and Pitch had spotted him, she'd thrown herself into her magic training, paranoid that he'd come after her. And her shadow spirits were only too happy to help her learn.
In addition to learning elemental magic, she'd also been learning some telekinesis. Moving things around with her power alone was quite handy and she was really starting to like it. Her shadow spirits had also encouraged her to get invested in voodoo dolls. If she had a doll of anyone who she thought might hurt her, she could use it to protect herself. With them, she could make someone do anything: fly through the air, feel sharp pains in their chest, drown them wherever they were. She'd have complete control, and if she practiced with it, not even Thrax would be able to resist her power. However, now she was taking a break from being inside, under orders from her parents. They'd practically kicked her out of the house, telling her that some fresh air and sun would do some good for the pale color her skin was getting. Weiss had complied, but she didn't necessarily like it. Even now, as she sat on a park bench, her mind unconsciously linked to the shadow spirits that lay nearby, she wished she was back in her room. It was the only place she really felt safe anymore. Outside, out in the open, surrounded by strangers, it would be too easy for someone to try and hurt her. She knew her shadow spirits would protect her, but that didn't make her paranoia go away. She still remembered how scared she had been while fighting Thrax, how she could have been killed if the shadow spirits hadn't come to her aid. The experience had changed her, and she refused to come so close to death again.

It was such a nice day in the park today, it felt refreshing compared to the last few days of rain. There was a lot of people in the park probably had the same thought that he did about the weather. He had spent most of the morning running around keeping out for any of the familiar faces and enjoying the breeze. Other people had thought that his quick running was just a rough patch of wind.
As of now though, he needed a break, and a drink. Thankfully, he had bought a drink on his way there. That was the problem with his powers, they made him burn so much metabolism that he was really hungry or thirsty a lot. His brain thought about the other day with Elsa and the assassins. The name Torchwick still stuck in his brain. All of those thoughts however, disappeared when he saw that familiar beautiful face. Weiss.
"I think that fate must be on my side. I was hoping to see you again." he said with a smile.

Weiss jumped when a familiar voice spoke to her. She quickly glanced up to see that it was Wally. She mentally scolded herself for spacing out so bad. She needed to be more aware of her surroundings. Sure, her shadow spirits would step in if anyone tried anything funny, but still. Although, to her surprise, she actually felt a little happy to see Wally right now. Maybe it was because he was one of the few people who hadn't gotten on her nerves lately. Or his lack of knowledge about her and her family made their conversations actually interesting. He was one of the few people she knew of that had run into her and had no idea who she was. It had been refreshing. "Is that a line you use on all the girls or am I just special?" she replied. She gave a tired smile, although it was still a smile nevertheless, and not just anyone could bring it out.

Wally's eyes twinkled a bit. "That depends, did it work?" he asked jokingly, taking a bit of a sip from his drink. He looked at her a little closer. She seemed a bit happy but something else was going on, he just didn't know what. He didn't want to bring it up if it meant putting her back in the quiet shell that he had met only awhile ago. It must involve her family though.
"How is the studying going?" he asked.

"Might have to practice a little bit. I'm not about to go out on a coffee date with you," Weiss replied. Cliche flirting was something she was used to, although she didn't mind it from Wally so much. She had no idea why. Maybe she was getting soft. It took her a moment to remember what he meant by "studying" and she recalled that she had told him she was working on some new voodoo techniques. "Alright, I guess. Some spells still need a lot of work. But I'll get the hang of them, in due time." Weiss had the ability to master almost any voodoo spell that came her way, if she had enough time to dedicate some practice to it. She was making a little progress on things like telekinesis. Give her a few more months and she'd probably be a pro at it. At the rate she was going, she'd never be hurt again. By her parents, by Thrax, anyone. She'd be able to take control of everything in her life for once, and that thought pleased her greatly.

Wally's eyes twinkled with a bit of mischief. So there could be a chance for a date. Though that would have to wait. At least she was smiling, that was enough for her. "Well, hey, practice makes perfect, no one be that good in a night right?" he asked. He knew that from experience. Like Weiss, he was struggling to get a hold of his powers, it still took awhile for him to stop when he really needed it. It wasn't like he had a family to help in the matter like Weiss did though.
"What brings you to the park then? Study break?" he asked

"Yeah, I guess you could call it that," Weiss replied. Calling "my parents are tired of me being antisocial so they kicked me out of the house for a few hours" a study break was a nice way of putting it. Weiss supposed she had gotten a little paler, but that wasn't very important to her. She didn't care if every other girl was getting a tan right now in preparation for summer. Her work was more important to her right now. After months of getting to know her shadow spirits and bonding with them, she was finally doing some work with them. And she was learning things her teachers had never mentioned before, things her parents didn't even talk about. She was delving into magic they didn't dare touch, because they were too afraid of it. Weiss wasn't though. She may be afraid of many things, but dark voodoo magic wasn't one of them.

"Well, I am certainly glad you decided to come here for it." He didn't catch the little bit of sarcastic overtone if there was one. He had actually been wondering about a few things, not just talking to Weiss but there were a few things that he did want to know. Should he warn her about Evie or whatever her name was? She had enough problems. "I actually wanted to ask you something."

Weiss glanced up when Wally asked if he could talk to her about something. He seemed oddly serious for once. Most of the time, he seemed light-hearted. Then again, this was only the second time she had spoken to him. What did she know? She wasn't exactly showing her genuine personality either. But pretending she was okay was a skill Weiss had perfected over the years. Even before she had gotten involved with things like Thrax and shadow spirits and Riku leaving the family, she'd nailed down how to act like everything was fine. Just smile, sound light-hearted, just focus on the now and don't worry about the past or present. It seemed Wally was a little more genuine than she was. "Sure. Ask away," she replied casually.

"Well, its kind of an odd question but do you know anything about a man named Torchwick?" he asked, his gaze serious. "See I helped this woman out at the cemetary the other day, some thugs were trying to kill her, i mean luckily that didn't happen because well..I'm awesome." he smirked for a moment. "Anyways, they mentioned his name, and it just kind of struck me as familiar."
He still couldn't place it, none of the group that he had met that first day before he had gotten his powers had mentioned it, or maybe they did and he wasn't paying attention but it never hurt to have someone else give him information.

Torchwick...the name sounded vaguely familiar. Weiss felt like she had seen his name once or twice in the news concerning some crimes. But she couldn't remember what exactly he had done. Heck, for a while, she tended to avoid any news like that because it mentioned the Others Unit, and she had been paranoid about seeing Riku's name. And now that she was so consumed with her voodoo, she didn't put too much time into leisure activities. "I know he's a criminal. Couldn't tell you what kind though. It gets hard to keep track of them all sometimes." She gave a weary sigh. "We've got gangsters, drug dealers, thieves, all that stuff. Kind of a field day for reporters. They seem to love posting stuff like that." She was quiet for a moment before asking "How'd you take out those thugs anyway? Do you know kung fu or something?" Wally didn't seem like the type of kid that could take on several people at once. Maybe he was stronger than he looked? Or maybe he wasn't entirely human. Weiss wouldn't be surprised about that, but honestly, Wally looked pretty human. Then again, so did she and a lot of other people around here. Her, Elsa, her brother, they looked like regular human beings until their powers kicked in.

Wally nodded, Elsa had mentioned a smuggler. Obviously that meant he was a criminal. This might mean more hunting for answers and it didn't mean that he wanted to get into trouble along the way. "I wouldn't say kung-fu but I can do some pretty cool things that make people blink twice at." He glanced around, thankfully there was not a lot of people around. This would prove to at least provide cover. He didn't want people to find out about his alter ego.
"Here, I'll show you. Don't move okay. Gotta go throw this away. You want anything?" he asked holding out his empty drink cup as he stood up.

Weiss blinked. What was Wally hinting at? Was he about to show some freaky power like turning inside out or something gross like that? He did seem to check around him to see if anyone was around. "You're acting weird, you know that?" she said with a raised eyebrow. "And no, I don't want anything. I'm fine." Still, she had to admit that she felt curious about what Wally was going to do. And she could sense the same feeling from her shadow spirits. Despite being powerful dark creatures, they couldn't tell exactly what powers Wally had, if that was what he was about to show off. She simply crossed her arms over her chest and waited.

Wally couldn't help but give a small smirk. He actually was excited to see the look on her face with his powers. It was all about timing though. "Don't worry, I''ll be right back." He took a small look about to be sure there wasn't anyone watching and then took off in a small blur. No doubt making a small breeze, if only to rustle Weiss's hair a bit. It wasn't even a second before he returned.
"It's not much but most of the time people don't even get a good look at me before I down them."

When Wally took off running, the last thing Weiss expected was to see him pass by in a blur. By the time she turned her head in the direction he had run, he was already gone. And he returned before she could even face forward again. She could see why he had been able to take on a couple of thugs by himself. Not only could his attacks be fast, nobody would be able to hit him in return. "I gotta admit, I've seen a lot of interesting powers in this city, but super speed isn't a very common one," she said. She'd heard rumors that a officer in the Others Unit could run pretty fast too, but Weiss wasn't sure if they meant super-sonic speed like this. Either way, it was interesting to her. "Has anyone ever timed you to get your top speed?" she asked.
