Even though Yang didn't have a shift at the Nevermore today, she still couldn't resist heading there when she felt like grabbing some lunch. She was still doing the same minor work she'd started back when she'd only had one arm, which meant basic tasks and minimal hours. If she didn't end up passing the police test, she'd take on more. But for now, she was content with what she was doing, because it gave her more time to train. Today had focused less on the physical side and more on the law stuff though. She'd checked out a couple of books from the library, which provided many details on the laws of the city, what a cop could or couldn't do, what rights people had when they were getting arrested, etc. Granted, she'd go into finer detail about this stuff if she became an officer, but she felt like it was still important to know. The bags were tucked neatly inside a bag slung over her shoulder, and she shifted it slightly as she walked into the coffee shop. Within a few minutes, she was settled at a booth, a book plopped in front of her. One held her sandwich while the other flipped the pages. Granted, she didn't have to eat and read at the same time, but she was just glad she could multi-task like she used to. Having two hands again made it so much easier.

Aqua stepped into Nevermore. As luck would have it, she had been working a double shift and had no time to make herself something to eat. So Nevermore it was. The heavenly shop was a godsend after a grueling shift and no food. So she was absolutely delighted when she was given a deli sandwich, a bag of chips and a soda. She was about to carry it out of the shop and eat it on her way home when she spotted a mop of familiar blonde hair. Unruly curls and all waves. She smiled and walked over to the table.
"Yang," she greeted. "It's good to see you!"

Yang looked up at the sound of a familiar voice, and was delighted to see that it was Aqua. "Hey Aqua!" she said with a mouthful of food, which probably wasn't the wisest decision, as her words came out all muffled. She quickly swallowed and coughed twice before saying again "Hey Aqua. Good to see you." The two of them had become pretty fast friends after Yang had decided not to hate cops so much and Aqua apologized for not taking swifter action to save Yang's parents. After getting all that out of the way, becoming friends had been easy. Yang felt like her number of cop friends had grown ever since she'd stopped hating them so much, and to be honest, it was a comforting thought. Having friends who could advise you in all legal matters and knock out anyone who scared you was pretty handy.

"Seems we both had food on the mind," Aqua mused. "Would you mind if I sit with you?"
She figured she ought to ask. She hadn't been the most social of creatures after her spat with Riku. She had to try to get past it though, in case she did lose Riku as a friend forever. She didn't want to think about that. Yang was there after all. The young woman seemed to be doing quite well for herself, despite the ordeals she had been through - first her arm and then the paparazzi. Aqua did read the paper which was why it surprised her to see Yang. But she was bright and smiling. That alone made Aqua smile because it was good to see that someone was doing okay.

"Oh, no, that's fine," Yang said, scooting her stuff over so it didn't take up so much space on the table. It'd been a while since she had some quality girl time with someone. Lately, she'd been hanging out with either Shadow and Ralph while training, or Adrien just because they still couldn't get enough of each other. Yang still felt like part of their euphoria was that they didn't have Adrien's overbearing father hanging over their heads anymore. The only people who probably disagreed with their relationship were some people in Adrien's social circle, and maybe some of his die-hard fans. Either way, they enjoyed the freedom they now had, and Yang felt like she could give more in the relationship now that she was starting to finally feel better.

"Thank you," Aqua said.
She sat down, placing her things in the area Yang cleaned off. Her sandwich tasted like heaven. Perhaps it was having nothing in almost 12 entire hours or that she was so hungry that anything would do at that point. However, the good taste was nothing less to be expected from Nevermore as long as the new employee Matthew wasn't the one behind the oven. Just what she needed to fill a hungry belly after a long grueling shift. A few bites down and she certainly felt better than she had. So she offered Yang a smile.
"How have you been doing?" she asked.

"Better, thanks to this," Yang replied, raising up her metal hand. "It hasn't solved everything, but it is a confidence booster." Any problems she had like anxiety, depression, and nightmares wouldn't go away overnight just because she had a new arm. Heck, she may have to deal with stuff like that forever. But she felt like as long as she could control them, then things would be okay. After all, Sunshine and Shadow certainly carried a lot of emotional baggage, and they were really good cops. If they could do it, so could she.

"We all need to recover at our own pace." Aqua defended.
Yang had gone through quite an ordeal losing her arm the way she had. Aqua had no experiences that could relate, nor did she want to. She could, however, provide a brief distraction and try to cheer Yang up more. Aqua would have visited but the young woman had tons of visitors not to mention, Aqua had her hands full of rabbit cures and family history books for Riku and Sunshine. There was only so much a single faery could do in a town like this.
"It's a nice... arm?" she said before laughing.

Yang laughed along with her. "I guess you could say that," she replied. "Shadow actually suggested I look into becoming a cop, so that's what I'm doing. I was sparring with him and Ralph the other day, and it holds up really well." Shadow had even commented on how much of a punch her new arm packed. Granted, it wasn't indestructible, but it was still pretty decent. "Now I just gotta learn all the law stuff," she continued, holding up her book. Law wasn't exactly the most interesting reads, not to mention that some rules in Bellerouge didn't apply to other areas of the world. But Yang had to know it. Besides, she'd probably get better if she actually became a cop and put this stuff into practice. In a way, it was a bit like fighting. The best way for her to learn a new move was to repeat it over and over again until it stuck in her brain. She just had to do the same thing with the textbook stuff.

"A new officer, huh..." Aqua mused. "Are you excited?"
Seems there were going to be a lot of cops now. But at least Yang was finding a calling that would keep her off the streets and out of trouble. Aqua had worried about the young blonde for a long time, especially after what happened to her parents. The faery was just glad that something finally seemed to be going right for her after all this time. A new arm, a nice friend (who may have been a boyfriend) and good friends who looked out for her. Yang needed this in her life and it was long in coming for her.

"Mostly nervous, I guess," Yang replied. "I mean, there's the whole test I gotta pass. Then there's actually doing the job. I've been getting better and stuff, but...who knows if I'll end up taking a nose dive or something." The main thing Yang was worried about was having a flashback triggered, or having a panic attack in the middle of something important. She just had to trust that Shadow and Ralph would help her get her fears under control. They knew just as much about training the mind as they did the body. "And some of the cops don't exactly have a great history with me," Yang continued. Jim instantly came to mind, and how she had managed to seduce him long enough to make a getaway. He probably hadn't forgotten about that. Also, if she ever had to do any work with Moses, that would be tense. Sure, the guy was just an informant and not a full-fledged officer, but still. She might have to, and she was still feeling conflicted about keeping his whole thing with Vanitas a secret. She still wondered if she had made the right decision, not turning Vanitas in if only because it would sadden Moses beyond belief.

"You aren't going to nose dive." Aqua reassured Yang. "What you're doing is so brave and I couldn't be happier for you."
Aqua was being sincere. She wanted someone's life to go right in this city. There were so many bad things happening that she could often feel overwhelmed. Aqua herself would admit to feeling like she was treading water at this point. If she could help one person be happy, then she could say she had done something right with her life for once. But all she's had since she became a cop was a string of failures. It was weighing heavily on her. She hoped it wouldn't do the same to Yang. A bright and happy girl like her needed to stay that way.
"So? You're turning your life around. If anyone gives you a hard time, you let me know and I'll set things straight." she said.

Yang just nodded. Maybe a nosedive wouldn't happen to her, but there were sure to be down days. Hopefully, she'd never go downhill so much that she'd end up back to where she was. She'd been stuck on a plateau for so long, and now, she was finally moving up for once and making some progress. She didn't want that to stop. The more progress she made, the closest she was to being a functional adult. Not perfect, but functional. At Aqua's words at setting things straight if anyone gave her a hard time, she gave a smile. "Do you set things straight the way Shadow does, or do you have your own method?" she teased. Shadow's way of dealing with people who messed with his friends generally involved glaring at them menacingly or actually punching them in the face. Usually, the glare was enough, but some people just couldn't take the hint sometimes and needed a knuckle sandwich to knock some sense into them.

"My own method." she replied. "I'm afraid we all can't be as forward as Shadow."
She had been told that her expressions alone could give lectures. The ever so expressive 'I'm disappointed in you' or 'Do that again, I dare you'. She could cover a broad spectrum. Not to mention she did verbal lectures as well. She hadn't really been herself though after her falling out with Riku. But being around Yang was helping. One of Aqua's short comings that had worked itself out in the long run. She couldn't be happier for Yang. She had come so far and could only go up from there. Happy and surrounded by people who cared about her, that was what Aqua liked to see in the humans she had taken company with.
"But I doubt you're here for a lecture."

"Eh, I'm used to it," Yang replied. "My friends have been giving me lectures ever since they've known me. 'Yang, that was a dumb move. Don't do it again.' 'Yang, did you really have to do that for money? I could have just given you some.' 'You took on another kid? Are you crazy?'" She gave a laugh. Words like that had been thrown at her for years, mainly from Omar and Moses, since they had known her the longest and knew the details of her dirty work. "I guess they meant well, though. I've got the fire back, but I think my fuse is a bit longer than it used to be, most of the time." She knew she had to keep a level head and not rush into things like she used to. Still, she knew that she'd probably do that in a heartbeat if it meant protecting a friend. She'd probably always be reckless in that way.
